CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT
LUCIAN'S P.O.V
The tension in the room was thick as we both stared at each other. His eyes were shining as they stared into mine. How could he suggest something like this? That I choose between Aurora or the alpha title. He knows I've been preparing for the alpha title all my life. And I'm sure he also sure he knows can't leave without her.
"Lucian."
Aurora's voice cut through my thoughts, my eyes strayed away from him and went to her. The corners of my lips went low, she looked eager, almost happy.
"I think its time that you let me go."
"Aurora..." I began, she shook her head fiercely.
"Its for the best. Besides, I have been bugging you to reject me. This is just a nudge in the right direction. Right?" She grinned, clapping her hands together.
My teeth grinded against each other at her words. Did she know what she just said? I should reject her? Never. I snapped my gaze away from her and glared at dad.
"I'm waiting." He taunted.
I stepped into his space and growled, my voice laced with hate.
"You're not going to get the answer you are looking for dad. I'm not going to give you that satisfaction you crave."
The light dimmed from his eyes, he stepped back as he glared daggers at me.
"You will have to choose eventually, or I will."
He left the office without closing the door. As soon as he was gone, a sigh of relief escaped me.
"Whew! Damn that was intense." Griffin shuddered as he rested his back against the wall.
"Damn, I hate him." I bit out as I rounded on Aurora. "How could you say that? Why on earth...did you say that?"
She blinked fast, her head rearing back a little while crossing her hands protectively around her chest.
"Wat...what?"
My eyebrows rose.
"What? You just gave him a leverage to use on me. He's going to use what you said to try to get me to give you up or my alpha title."
She shrugged.
"I can't see what I did wrong. We are not, definitely not going to be together so why go through all this mess. Just reject me and accept the title so that I finally accept go..." She quickly caught herself and stopped talking.
I frowned and narrowed my eyes.
"Finally accept what?"
She looked away, "Nothing. Just rejected me already."
"No. No. Its not nothing. You have to say it." I growled as I got closer to her.
"Um. You know, guys, I will be...no, we, will be taking our leaves now. Come Alpha Kieran. This is between couples."
Griffin spoke while dragging Kieran away, we barely noticed their movement until the door had been shut.
"What were you going to say?"
She sighed and threw her hands up while rolling her eyes.
"Fine, I do t care if you find out anyway. Alpha Kieran asked me to move to his pack and live there."
"What?"
"Yes, he told me while I was still working for Clara. He has a job opportunity there waiting for me and I will be treated well...unlike here."
I deflated.
"And...you want to go?"
She shrugged.
"I'm still thinking about it. Which is why I want to be done with this so that I can focus and think about it."
Something in my heart hurt, I winced as I slowly took her face in my hands, she frowned but made no move to push me away.
"Why? Aurora, why do you keep doing this to me?"
I felt tears filling in my eyes, she gasped as she saw them, I didn't care that I looked like a fool right now.
"Why do you...why you keep making me feel like I am nothing to you. Like I am nothing but a pest in your life?"
"But you're...a pest...kinda" She bit her lips.
"Do you know what I feel when I look at you? Do you...do you know how badly I want to hold you in my arms and kiss you, touch you?"
Her face went red and her lips parted, she had no idea. Because I was an alpha, the feeling of the mate bond were more intense on my side. It takes a lot of control to stop myself from doing what I wanted to do to her.
I leaned closer to her ear and slowly licked her earlobe, she shuddered as a tiny yelp escape her lips.
"Can you tell me that you don't feel anything for me when I hold you? Tell me you don't feel anything just by being in my presence?"
I buried my nose in the crook of her neck and inhaled deeply, I let out a growl at the delicious smell wafting from her. Her shoulders trembled again as I let my tongue graze her neck, the exact point where I'm supposed to make a mate bite.
"Lucian!"
She called out, fear in her voice as her legs buckled, I used my legs to trap her under me.
"You can't escape me until you give me an answer. Aurora."
I whispered as my lips trailed to her forehead, her nose, her cheeks and finally settled on her lips. The both of us emitted a groan as we swallowed each other's tongues. My hands kept exploring her body as I plundered her mouth. I trailed her waist, spanning her slim waist, my hands reached out to cup her ample buttocks. She gasped at my touch, finally freeing her mouth from mine. Her eyes were heavy lidded as she stared up at me while biting her lips.
"I beg you, please don't do that." I groaned in a strangled voice.
"Don't do what?" She whispered softly.
"That thing you do with your lips...That...biting."
She grinned, her eyes bright, looking everything but mischievous.
"Is it weird that I just want to spend the whole day biting them?" I asked her while pulling her face to look at me.
"I don't know... No one ever said that about my lips. Maybe."
I growled, "I can say them over and over, just for you."
She swallowed then closed her eyes, I could tell she was in thoughts.
"Why are you making this hard? Lucian, about this...mate thing. Between us..."
