CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN
LUCIAN'S P.O.V
Luckily, the men my dad kept at the cave were not as strong as I had hoped. So it had been easy to take them down and locate Mirabel's family.
"Who...who are you?"
A middle aged woman with a tired face asked as she reared back in fright.
"Its okay." I raised my hands. "I'm here to help, Mirabel sent us."
"Us?" She frowned looking behind me.
"You can't see them now but two other guys are here with me. Come, let's go get your sons."
With hesitation, she looked into my eyes, fear and hope were mingled in them.
"Okay."
I led her to her sons who were about my age, they watched me with caution at first but after I explained, they looked at me gratefully.
"Let's go."
I yelled, running past Kieran and Griffin as they took care of the guards, I nodded as I passed, giving them the okay sign.
As we raced to the pack border, I pulled out my phone and dialed Aurora's number.
"Hey, yeah its me. I have them, come meet us at the pack border. Hurry."
I looked at the three people with me, they looked exhausted and their clothes were already tattered in some places, hatred for my father surged in me once more.
"I am truly sorry about this. I'm ashamed to say that the man responsible for this happens to be my father. On his behalf, I ask for your forgiveness."
I bowed my head low in front of them. I felt hands on my back raising me up.
"Its okay, he did this not you. You had no idea he was such a monster...no offense." The eldest son quipped with a wry smile.
I smiled back at him.
"None taken."
"If you ever need someone to help you take him out, just come to us. We'll repay the favor."
The second son told me as he clasped my shoulder.
"I appreciate."
They nodded in return while their mother smiled softly at me, her smile reminded me of mom's smile. Now I want to see her, why haven't I seen her since anyway.
"Mom! Jake! Eli!" A shrill voice screamed out.
The family of three turned immediately, their eyes bright and teary as they ran to meet Mirabel. They pulled her into a hug as they sobbed.
"Mirabel!!"
"Oh, we are so happy to see you."
"I'm happy too! I thought I would never see you guys again. I'm so happy."
Aurora came to stand beside me, a smile on her lips.
"You did it." She looked at me, "Any injuries?"
I shook my head, a relieved smile on my face.
"None that I know of."
"I'm glad."
We let them have their moment for a while as we said nothing, just watched. Few minutes later, they disengaged and looked towards us, their eyes all shone with joy and relief.
"Thank you very much. We will always remember what you did for us." Mirabel spoke, then she winked at Aurora, "And I hope you eventually do what you said you will do, Aurora."
Aurora grinned and nodded.
"I promise I will."
They all waved at us then shifted, we watched as they ran off into the distance until they had vanished.
I held out my hand to her.
"Should we leave now?"
Slowly, she took my hand.
"Sure."
We got back to the pack house in about ten minutes. Griffin and Kieran were waiting in my study, they looked exhausted but clean.
"Seems like you guys had a bath."
"Were you expecting us to come back looking like pigs?" Griffin growled.
"And let your father suspect everything?" Kieran grunted as he folded his arms.
I shrugged.
"Who cares, he's going to find out anyway. So what's it to me if he sees you guys. He should have known better than to use an innocent family to achieve his own selfish goal."
"Are you guys alright?" Aurora asked.
"As you can see, yes. Thanks for asking." Griffin answered with a smile.
"How did it go? With her family?" Kieran asked as he stared at her.
Her face bloomed into a soft smile.
"Oh it went well, almost magical. You could see the way they were so happy to see each other. Its nice to have kind of a family." She sighed, a bit forlorn.
I was about to say something when, the door was suddenly pushed open. An already healed but furious dad stormed in, with clenched fists and burning eyes.
"Lucian!!! What did I just hear?"
Aurora stiffened as soon as she saw him, I pulled her behind me as I asked him casually.
"What did you hear?"
"That Mirabel is gone? And you helped her family whom I had locked in a secret place, escape? How could you?"
His face was red and streaked with veins.
"Why wouldn't I? So I should have watched as you tried to ruin my life and the lives of innocent people?"
"How did you find out about it?" His nostrils flared as he asked.
"Not everyone is a coward alright, she was brave enough to choose the right side and save her family. Do you know she already had a mate? I'm sure even if you did you wouldn't have cared. Hell, you might have even gotten him killed for all I know."
"You..." He stalked closer, his eyes jet black, I braced myself as he neared.
"I was thinking about you when I did what I did. Why do you always make it difficult?".
"Difficult? Are you sure you care about me and its not about you?"
He stayed silent, his hands trembling as he clenched his fists.
"Because everything has always been about you, your pain, how you feel. You don't fucking care about me. Its my life and my happiness."
"Its my choice and my pack!"
He roared, his hand reached out to punch me but I stopped him, Griffin walked to stand by my side.
"Alpha Desmond." He said.
Dad stared at him then looked back at me, his eyes widened a bit.
"I see. You choose to stand with him than with me, your current alpha?"
Griffin said nothing, his face showed no expression.
"Fine then." He chuckled and looked behind me, I moved to block his line of sight.
"Then you better choose now. You either listen to me as your father and your alpha or..." He smirked as he looked back at me. "You keep her and lose your alpha title."
"You can't be serious." I growled.
He smirked, "Do I look like I'm joking? What do you choose, Lucian?"
