CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX
AURORA'S P.O.V
"So let me get this straight, you want me to help you help her save her parents. And you totally believe her story about being blackmailed by your dad?"
Alpha Kieran asked with a skeptical look on his face.
The three of us, Lucian, Mirabel and I nodded.
He scoffed and turned his head away.
"I never pegged you for someone who can go against their own dad in a situation that could benefit them."
"How the hell is this situation going to benefit me? You know It's only going to benefit you, stop lying." Lucian growled without glancing at him.
"And you need my help for what exactly? I understand you guys needing him because he's an alpha...but why me?" Griffin asked with a scowl on his face.
We were all gathered in Lucian's study, I never knew he had one. It looked clean and organized with books stacked cleanly on shelves. He had a map open on his large mahogany desk.
"Griffin, you are my beta and my best friend, I don't think I need any other explanation."
Without looking up from the map, he replied to Griffin's question.
Griffin grunted in response but I could tell by the tilt of his lips that he liked the answer.
"Okay, we know Mirabel's family are being held in one of these caves."
He pointed to an area on the map which I couldn't understand.
"Can you show us exactly where it is?"
He asked Mirabel, she nodded as she came forward, she was now dressed in a pair of jeans and a black shirt.
"Its right here..." She pointed at a spot on the map, "...just behind this huge boulder, its a landmark for the cave. He also has about twenty men standing guard at various places."
"Okay." Griffin clapped, "We know the location, what's the plan?"
"We go in, get them out. Finish." Lucian answered.
"And you think its as easy as that?" Alpha Kieran asked, his eyebrows raised. "Are you even sure you know what you're doing?"
Lucian raised his head and looked at me as if asking why does he even bother. I winked at him to calm down.
"Alpha Kieran..." I called softly. "We really need your help, so will you help us? Please?"
He sighed looking away for a minute.
Lucian's lips went up in a sneer.
"We are doing this to help someone in trouble. Now I'm not going to force you but you can use this as an opportunity to regain your lost honor after trying to take another person's mate."
"Lucian!" I growled out a warning.
He glanced at me and shrugged.
"Just saying. Is he in or out?"
"I'm in." Alpha Kieran answered, a glare in his eyes as he stared at Lucian, his jaw tight. "No questions asked."
Lucian smirked and rested his jaw on his clasped hands.
"Alright, thank you."
Alpha Kieran nodded. "I'll provide backup, make sure we have an escape route."
Griffin flexed his biceps, "I'll take care of any guards. Lucian you can focus on getting Mirabel's family out."
Lucian nodded and narrowed his eyes.
"Let's do this."
Just before they left, Lucian took my hand in his.
"Keep your phone with you at all time. I'll call you to bring her once we get them out. You can meet us at the pack border, they can leave from there."
I nodded, my mouth felt a little dry at the thought of them heading out into danger.
"Okay, please be careful. Stay safe."
He smiled softly and turned to leave.
"And don't do anything stupid." I yelled.
A bark of laughter escaped his lips as he ran off, I smiled a bit as I watched him.
Even after the door was closed and they had long gone, I was still staring at the door.
"Um..Aurora?"
"Huh? Yes?" I turned as Mirabel called my name.
She smiled softly.
"I think you should sit down, you've been boring invisible holes at the door for quite some time."
"Ah!"
I chuckled nervously, my eyes darting to the door once more.
"I'm just worried that they might not succeed. What if they don't succeed and still get injured? Seriously injured."
She led me gently to sit down on a couch.
"It's ironic that my family is the one about to be saved but instead you're the one that's even more nervous than I am."
"I know. And its strange to me, I can't explain it."
The corner of her lips tilted up as her eyes shone.
"Thats because of your mate."
"Huh? My mate?"
She nodded.
"Yes, your mate. Lucian is your mate, you are feeling like this because you are finally starting to react to the bond."
I blinked furiously as I waved my hands.
"No! I'm not worried about him only, I don't feel anything...yet."
"You do, you just don't understand yourself yet. I know you said you don't want to accept him but a time will come that you can't bear to be apart from him."
A dreamy look settled in her eyes as she smiled.
"You want to see him always, be with him, hold his hands, kiss his lips. Just him."
I swallowed slowly.
"Are you talking from experience? Because of your own mate?"
She nodded.
"Yes. You know, I refuse to accept or even acknowledge him because I felt that as the alpha's daughter, I should have been mated with an alpha. He's a beta you see, so I refused. I kept on refusing and he kept on coming closer until one day I couldn't resist anymore. Its my cowardice that made me not to tell my parents about him."
She sighed and lowered her head.
"But I promise to do that once I'm out of this mess.".
I placed my hands on hers.
"I support you for that, one hundred percent. Though I'm not going to change my mind easily, I'll see if he's actually worth it for me."
She grinned and nudged my shoulder.
"You do that, and you'll see."
We stayed silent for a while until my phone rang. The both of us looked at each other at the same time.
"Could it be him?" I whispered
She answered back in a whisper.
"Why don't you check."
I brought the phone in front of me and opened it.V..
