CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-FOUR
LUCIAN'S P.O.V
FIVE MONTHS LATER!!!
"Ahh! I am so excited for the baby's arrival. And I am so going to be all over the baby! Oh, did I forget to say congratulations? Congratulations!" Mirabel squealed as she hugged Aurora tightly, it took my self control to pry her out, considering her stomach was almost as big as a watermelon now.
She was eight months gone and would soon deliver, that's why I'm even more anxious to leave her alone. But she will hate me if I don't give her some privacy, so...
"Thank you so much, I'm happy you're finally here." Aurora smiled brightly at her, then she made space for Talia to hug her.
"I'm happy to see you back, Mirabel. You missed Kieran, or he would have been here to fight you for the baby."
Kieran and Kale had left about two months ago, turns out his pack really needs him. But I have a feeling he will be here before the baby is born.
Mirabel frowned, her eyes narrowed.
"He's still on that? Are we still on that?" Then she looked at me accusingly, "I thought you already settled this. I be the godmother and he the godfather."
I winced and scratched my head.
"Yeah, that's the thing, he wants to have the baby all to himself."
"And you let him?"
"I've tried my best...", then I turned away and muttered. "...he was here before you anyway."
"What did you just say?" She snapped, giving me a look.
I clapped my hands.
"Well, that's my cue to leave. Aurora?"
"Yes dear."
"If you need me, I'll be with Griffin and Auron, okay?"
"Okay, go on." She smiled at me.
"Great, now Aurora, its time for you to sit down, your feet are all swollen." Talia chided her.
I smiled gently as she grumbled.
"I'm perfectly fine."
Yes, I agreed, perfectly radiant and beautiful with my baby. It won't be long now.
"Quick! The baby is coming!"
"Should we come with you?" Mirabel wrung her haves with sorry as I rushed her to the car.
"Its alright, just stay here."
"Okay, I'll let Griffin and Auron know, they can meet you at the hospital." Talia yelled.
"Hurry...it hurts..." Aurora groaned, sweat beading her forehead.
"Aurora, you're brave and strong, we'll be waiting for you and the baby, okay." Mom yelled with a wave, her eyes watery with unshed tears as well drove off.
I thought I understood fear, having faced some enemies, fought and survived. But none of that had prepared me for this.
Aurora was gripping my hand tightly, almost to the point of bones cracking.
"Aurora come on. Just breathe. Breathe." I tried soothing.
"Lucian," she breathed through clenched teeth, "...if you tell me to breathe one more time..."
"I won't say it again."
"You better not." She groaned out.
An older woman, the pack doctor rushed out with her attendings, behind them, they pulled a wheelchair.
"Alpha, you can let her go now."
"Really? O..okay." Gently, I placed her on the chair and was about to follow them when she pushed me back.
"Alpha, I'm sorry but you can't come."
"But I need to..." I couldn't finish because they rushed back into the theater.
I raked my hands through my hair and turned at the sounds of heavy footsteps.
"Hey. How is she? I came as fast as I could." Kieran panted, his face pale, Kale wasn't with him this time. He must have rushed straight from his pack.
Auron stomped impatiently, his red eyes glowing with worry.
"What's going on in there, tell me?"
"You guys should calm the fuck down okay? She's going to be alright." I swallowed, staring at the doors.
Auron let out a shaky breath and leaned against the wall, while Kieran paced up and down. I shot him a look and growled.
"Stop pacing, you're making me nervous. I wonder who is supposed to be more worried, you or me?"
"Sorry." He pushed out a breath, his voice tense and his eyes wide as they constantly moved to the theater door. "I'm just nervous, how long is this going to take. Its excruciating."
"Tell me about it. And she's my mate." I mumbled. Please moon goddess, give her a safe delivery, I love my baby it I also want my mate to be okay. Protect the both of them.
It must have been minutes but it felt like hours, the doors opened and immediately we ran to the doctor, she had on a face mask so we couldn't see her expression.
"How is she? How is the baby?" I asked.
"Did the delivery go well?" Kieran almost yelled.
"For fucks sake, speak!" Auron growled.
Her eyes crinkled at the corner as she held out her hands in a placating manner.
"Its alright, Alpha. The Luna is perfectly healthy."
"Oh thank goodness. Then...then what about the baby?"
"Yeah the baby?"
"The baby is fine too."
We all let out breaths of relief, a smile came onto my lips. Thank the goddess. They are okay. Then I noticed she was still there.
"Is there any other thing?" I asked, my voice apprehensive.
"Yes...well..."
Every instinct in my body sharpened, I stepped closer.
"Well what?" I growled, lacking my voice with my alpha aura.
Her eyes widened and she spoke.
"It's not actually a baby...its babies."
I blinked at her, then at Kieran, then at Auron, then back at her.
"I'm sorry you said what?"
She pulled off her face mask and all out grinned.
"The luna gave birth to twins!"
"Twins." I dumbly repeated.
“Twins?” Auron repeated.
“Two?” Kieran echoed.
“Yes, two. Twins. Congratulations, Alpha." She smiled..
Then at just that moment, two different sound of crying rang out from the theater room. My heart suddenly filled to the point of nursing. My babies. My children. We never knew they were two. Aurora, thank you so much.
I immediately looked at her, swallowing the lump in my throat.
"Can I see her now...them...now...please?"
She nodded and shifted from the way.
"Right this way, alpha."
I don't even remember walking, all I know was that I was suddenly at her side.
"Aurora. My love." I whispered.
She was exhausted, but glowing and smiling in that soft way that steals the air from my lungs. In her arms, she cradled two tiny bundles. A boy and a girl.
"Lucian. Our babies." She whispered softly.
"Oh gosh. I'm so happy, I could cry." Auron choked out as he stared at them with love in his eyes. Kieran stood staring at the babies like this was the first time getting was seeing a baby.
"You guys go...tell everyone, our babies have arrived."
