CHAPTER FOURTEEN
AURORA'S P.O.V
'Crash'
The crazed man raised the knife to slash at me, I screamed, ducking in time before he could touch me. I crawled away from him as fast as I could, my heart thundering in my chest. fast on the floor away from him. He growled, his teeth flashing at me as he lunged at me again. But just before he could reach me, the door slammed open and something tackled him to the floor.
"Don't you dare touch her, ever again!!"
Lucian roared with anger as he slammed into the man. The man landed on the floor, the knife slipping out of his gasp.
"Get away from me!" His voice was almost non-human as he struggled to push him away.
"No way! Why are you doing this? You don't even know her."
"He's crazy...he tried to kill me!" I screamed with chattering teeth and I crouched away from them.
Lucian growled then leaned to the man's ears.
"You better snap out of it, what would the pack say when they find out that their alpha is trying to kill a young girl."
"What! A...alpha?", I squeezed, my eyes wide as I stared at him. "Why is the alpha trying to kill me."
He ducked his head, looking frustrated and confused.
"I'm sorry Aurora. I have no idea...too."
Suddenly, the alpha pushed Lucian off him and faced me, his eyes narrowed in a glare. I flinched from the hate directed at me.
"If you knew what she was, you would let me kill her."
A panicked sound escape me, I slapped my mouth with my trembling hands.
"Its okay Aurora, I'm not going to let him hurt you, I promise."
I stared into his eyes for a while then nodded. He was my best shot right now.
Lucian glared at him again, his hands clenching by his sides.
"What do you mean by what she is? You have never even met her before."
A chuckle rumbled from the alpha's throat, his adam's apple bobbing up and down. He looked at Lucian, a smirk on his lips.
"Is that what you think?"
"Huh?"
He slowly turned his face to look at me again, our eyes met. I stiffened as I stared at him.
"What do you think...Aurora Steel?"
I hiccupped.
My eyes went wide as he said my name with those eerily cold eyes.
I summed up courage, stood up and blew away the hair covering my face.
"How...how do you know my name?"
A cold chuckle escaped his lips, gently,
"How could I not know you?"
He began as he made a step towards me, I braced myself, ready to run if he moved any closer but thankfully he stayed where he was, a grin on his face. I noticed Lucian clenching his hands as he watched his dad with a hawks' gaze.
"I am the alpha of this pack, it is my duty to know who my pack members are. Now you..."
He glared at me, his voice turning into a growl, suddenly I felt the tension in the room go high. It became difficult to breath.
"You are a stain in my pack."
I could only choke while struggling to breath.
"Dad stop. You're hurting her." Lucian roared.
So its his father.
I suddenly felt even weaker.
"Very weak."
He clicked his tongue and turned away, immediately I felt relief and sucked in a huge gulp of air.
"An orphan like you and a weak Omega at that. Having something like you in my pack just irritates me."
My wolf whimpered at the harsh words coming out from our alpha. I swallowed and bowed my head low.
"I'm...sorry...alpha, if you dislike my presence. It wasn't my choice to be here. I promise you won't see me near you or this pack house again. Just...just let me go."
My hands were trembling as I tried to stop myself from crying. It hurt, my chest hurt from the smack reality of being hated even by the alpha.
"That's better, if you want to live."
He brushed his clothes, gave Lucien one last glance then left.
"Aurora, are you okay, I'm really sorry about what he..."
"Don't touch me!"
I screamed just as his hands made to touch me. He stopped and stared at me, concern in his eyes.
"Isn't it funny?"
I laughed, my whole body shaking.
"I detest the high and powerful. I don't even care anymore when they insult me but..." The tears finally burst out, "...I can't even bear the fact that the alpha also hates me, just because I'm an Omega. I hate that I care but I do and I know that nothing can change it."
Because he is the alpha. I broke down in sobs, hugging my body.
"Aurora, please I'm begging you. Others might think worse of you because of your status but I promise, I'm not like that." His earnest voice pleaded.
"Because I'm your mate, if I wasn't, trust me, you would have been such worse than them."
"Aurora..."
"Enough. I want to go home."
His face squeezed, he shook his head.
"No, you can't, its still nighttime."
"I don't..." I took a deep breath and continued slowly. "I don't care...I want to go, I can't stay in this place anymore."
"Why don't you wait until tomorrow morning..."
My eyes flashed and I roared at him.
"No!"
He blinked, shocked at my outburst but I didn't care.
"I don't want you. You know that. You're only a play boy who grew up having everything in your grasp. Stop bugging me. I want to leave here without you on my neck. So I'm begging you...please...leave me alone...just leave me alone."
He shook his head slowly.
"Aurora...you know I can't. Why do you keep making this hard for me?"
"This is hard for you?"
I glared at him though angry eyes pointing at my chest.
"Then what about me? You are trying to force yourself on me against my choice."
"The moon goddess chose us for each other..."
"I don't bloody care about that. She should have given me a different guy if she really cared about me." I yelled and moved away from him. "Do you know how much you annoy me? How much your presence in my life frustrates me? I...I hate you."
"Aurora!" His voice was a mix of shock and disbelief.
I felt something stabbing my chest, like a blunt nail but I continued.
"I hate you so much, so much that I wish I never saw you that day at the bar."
I stayed silent after that, taking in deep breaths to calm myself.
"You know, sometimes I ask myself if all this is worth it."
He exhaled deeply.
"If you are worth it? Every time I tell myself yes, that you're worth it. Its everybody's dream to find their mate, the one who was chosen specially for them by the goddess. Now you keep on saying my presence in your life has brought you pain. I'm sorry about that."
His face hardened. "But I can't give you up because...there is someone I know, who has become a shell of himself and almost a monster just because he lost his mate. And I have sworn to hold you tight even if you will hate me, because eventually, you'll see that we were meant for each other. If I have to change my whole self just to make you see that, I will."
I gasped softly, where did all that come from?
"Anyway...I can't be your mate. Our world's too wide apart. This mate thing was doomed from the start, I didn't want this. I have no choice."
'Stop this, its enough.' My wolf pleaded.
I'm sorry, Lucian. I'm going to try again.
"I, Aurora Steel..."
His eyes widened in realization
"Aurora!"
The pain in my chest came again, sharp and quick, I felt something wet from my nose. When I touched it, I saw it was blood, my breath became shaky. With eyes still on his face, I continued.
"I, Aurora Steel, hereby reject you..."
