Chapter 137 137
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-SEVEN
AURORA'S P.O.V.
The pack link cut off again, leaving me in silence, at least I was glad everyone now knew that I was safe. From what I heard from Kieran, it seems like Lucian was about to come find me. Good thing I was able to contact him before he did.
I sighed and sank onto the plush velvet bed in this groomed guest room that I had been kept in. Soft moonlight streamed through barred windows, casting patterns on creamy marble floors. The walls were adorned with paintings of daisies and sunflowers dancing under the sun, ironic, considering that I loved daises. It was like his room had been made specially for me, it wasn't bad. I leaned against the wall, my mind once again gong over the fact that I had a twin brother who hates me because of a huge misunderstanding which he won't let me correct. If only he would just shut up and let me speak, I have a lot of questions.
Why didn't I know he existed? Who took him and left only me? What if he was the one they had been intending to save and I was meant to die? Who received the letters and who sent them back? And why was he so bent on taking something from me, which I don't even know about? Goddess, help me. I have so many questions.
I heard the sound of footsteps approaching. The door creaked open, and Auron walked in, carrying a tray of food. The aroma wafted up, making my stomach growl with hunger. I eyed the food, soup, bread, fruit. My stomach growled loudly, as if to remind me that I hadn't eaten all day, not I wanted answers more. I needed answers.
"Auron..." I began but he stopped me with a glare.
"Eat," he said gruffly, setting the tray down on the small table in the corner of the room.
"Thanks," I said finally, taking a seat at the table.
He leaned against the wall, watching me as I took a bite. The flavors exploded on my tongue, and I couldn't help the moan that escaped my lips. I ate some more, then I looked up at him, my heart pounding in my chest. This was my chance to get some answers.
"Auron, please… tell me," I started, my voice soft. "What happened? Why were we separated?"
He turned to look at me, his eyes hardening like stone and his face set in a scowl.
"Don't talk to me like you're not guilty. Do not act so innocent when you aren't. All these questions you keep asking...when are you going to stop your stupid game? I'm getting tired."
I flared up, throwing my hands in the air.
"I'm not! Why do you keep saying that. I keep trying to tell you. I had no idea you existed until today. I had no fucking..."
"Language!" He blurted.
I was a bit taken aback, but I continued,
more calmly.
"...I had no idea that I had a sibling, much more, a twin for that matter. You can't just spring something like this on me, then accuse me of all these things when you don't even know the truth."
"And what is the truth then?" He growled.
"The truth is..."
"Silence," he cut me off, his hand slicing through air, get walked towards me, his eyes glinting red in the darkness.
"The truth is you lived, you smiled, you had a family, friends, people who loved you. The truth is you found out about me and even when I reached out to you, you didn't do anthing. The truth is that you abandoned me, just so you could keep on with your happy life. Being the wide of an alpha and being the Luna of a bloody pack that doesn't actually belong to you."
"Thats not true!!! That's not true, you hace to believe me. Please." I screamed, tears streaming down my cheeks. I wished I could move to him but my legs were chained to tve bedpost with another of that iron thing that made me weak.
I lowered my head as I pleaded.
"Okay, fine. How did you survive? Who raised you, who found you? Your story is clearly different from mine. How did you find me? When did you find out about me? Please...all I need are just answers. If you can just answer them...then I can tell you mine."
His face twitched and I saw his hard facaded slipping. Lots of emotions, anger, hurt, vulnerability all mixed together as he gritted out.
"Don't pretend to care. You never cared, if you had cared, you would have reached out. You would have replied those letters and not send that thing that you sent.
I held up the envelopes he gave me earlier they were still bundled up neatly. "I swear, I never got them! I don't even think would have have been able to get them considering where I lived at that time." I was referring to my pity excuse of a house, that rundown shed. "Maybe...maybe someone intercepted the messages and wrote those words."
"Lies," he snarled making me flinch, his voice low and dangerous. "Spare me the tales. I know a very trustworthy person that made sure the letters reached you. He told me he delivered them, he saw you pick them up. You laughed immediately you took one look at it and gave someone else to send it back. He saw all of it."
I stared at him in shock, my eyes narrowed in disbelief.
"Me? No...no...no way. There is no way I could have...it wasn't me..." I sobbed.
His eyes took in my tears eyes and tear stained cheeks, he took a step back, looking shocked. Pain and regret flickered in his eyes, but I wondered who it was for. Certainly not me.
"Stop it. Stop these tears. I don't like to see them. Clean them now!" He roared, his voice sounding broken as tears of is own streamed down his cheeks. "Damn this blasted twin bond." He furiously wiped at his face. "Let the elders be through with their research, then once I'm done with you, I'll make sure I never see you again."
He twirled and made for the door.
No! Don't leave. I screaned internally. As if he heard me, he stopped just as he reached the doir. I watched as he panted, breathing harshly, his back straight and stiff, shoulders moving with every breath intake.
"Auron....please..." My voice came out a broken whisper, my hands claspung at the air towars him. "I always wanted a sibling. Don't leave me when I just found you."
His back shuddered, he took a deep breath, then opened the door and left. I let myself fall limply on the bed, the food and my hunger now forgotten. Was he ever going to listen to me?
