CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-FOUR
AURORA'S P.O.V
We arrived at the school, and I was greeted by a group of enthusiastic women and a bunch of excited kids. The kids were all cute and happy tp see me. They gushed about the color of my hair and my eyes. I let them touch my hair for some time, letting them indulge their curiosity. The teachers had planned a fun day of activities and begged me to join and I couldn't say no to them.
As we were playing a game of catch, the ball flew off into the woods. I chased after it, laughing.
I sighted the ball after walking a few distances away from the kids.
"There you are."
I bent down and picked it up, but as I stood straight, my skin suddenly prickled. The hairs on the back of my neck raised high, it felt like I was being watched. I looked forward and flinched, gasping in terror, the ball in my hand falling limply to the ground. Ahead of me, in the shadows of the trees which blocked the sunlight, stood a man. He was dressed head to toes in black, a black cloak, black pants, similar to those strangers that delivered the letter to me. But he was a bit different, he stood much straighter and taller, his build bulkier and intimidating. His cloak was a lot elegant compared to those plain ones they wore. The cloak was decorated with embroidered fangs at the hem and roses along the flaps, all in black. The eerie black mask on his face was also not plain, instead it was the face of a wolf barring its teeth out, ready to attack. The more I stared at him, the more stranger I felt, like there was something resonating with him in me. I felt a shiver run down my spine.
I took one step backwards.
"Who are you?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.
He didn't answer. Instead, he slowly began to make his way across to me. I began moving back, my feet heavy as they dragged across the bushy ground.
"Stay back. Who are you?"
He kept on walking, not faltering, his eyes trained on me like a predator. I kept moving back until I felt something hard and rough against my back. Panicking, I looked back only to see that I was backing a huge boulder, there was no more pace to keep moving. I looked front and gasped loudly, rearing backward so fast that almost hit my head.
He was now standing directly in front of me, towering over me like a mountain. Lucian was tall and huge, maybe even taller but the oppressive energy around this guy made him seem much bigger.
"Who are you?" I asked again, barely keeping the trembling from my voice.
His eyes were a light shade of red as they stared at me, unblinking, unmoving. I stood still, frozen, not moving because for some reason, my body seemed to have gone still, not obeying my wishes. I startled when he raised a gloved hand and brought it close to my face, I tried to move my head away but like I said, I was frozen, so unable to avoid him. I closed my eyes tightly, expecting maybe a slap or a punch, but then none of those things happened. I pried my eyes open slowly and saw that his hand was hanging just a few inches away from my cheeks. His eyes were slightly wide, they held a mixture of emotions that made it hard for me to decipher. But the more I stared, I could recognize shock, surprise...and a longing for something. It didn't feel sexual but it felt like an intimate longing that made my heart ache for him. What was wrong with me? Why was I feeling sad for him?
Licking my lips, I opened my mouth and carefully asked.
"Can you tell me your name?".
He blinked, then slowly, like a feather's caress, he touched my cheek, both sides. The both of us flinched, me staring at him and him staring at me.
"Auron." A deep voice sounded behind the masks.
"Auron?" I gasped pointing at him. "Its you."
Something in him shifted immediately, his eyes flashed with anger, he took a sharp step back. He glared at me, his eyes shocked me, they were now a deep, blood red, sending me an astounding amount of hate and accusation.
I took a step forward.
"Can you tell me what you want from me? Why did you send me that letter?"
He didn't answer, his glare still in place as he clenched his fists.
"Luna Aurora! Luna Aurora!"
My name was called out sharply starting me.
I turned to the direction of the voice and called out.
"It's okay, I'll be right there."
Then I faced him again only to see that he was gone.
"Where...where did he go to?"
I moved further, looking around, hoping to get a glimpse of him or the road he might have taken. But all I saw were trees and bushes, and different sizes of rocks and boulders.
"Where did you go to Auron?" I whispered into the breeze.
I decided searching for him was fruitless, I would just have to wait for him to come. I have a feeling I'm going to see him again.
"Luna, Luna! Where did you go? What happened? We were so scared."
"We almost called the alpha to tell him you were missing."
The women crowded me as soon as I got back, their faces pak with sorry.
I smiled to reassure them.
"It's alright, I'm sorry for making you worry. I was just...caught up in something. But as you can see I'm fine."
They let out relieved sighs. One of the women looked at my hands.
"But Luna, where is the ball?"
I looked at my empty hands along with them. Damn it. I must forgotten to carry it up after it fell from my grasps.
I laughed nervously.
"Haha haha! Seems I must have gotten carried away and left the ball. Let me go get it now."
I made to turn back but was stopped when the very same ball rolled to my feet.
"No need for that."
