CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY
LUCIAN'S P.O.V
She asked calmly, I knew it was the calm before the storm, safe was just getting started.
"You come here, walk into my pack without any prior notice and try to use your fake-ass apologies as an excuse to tie your people to my mate? My husband? And you say its beyond me?"
The two alphas stared at each other with confusion and shock, glancing at me. I said nothing, because all I could think about was the fact that she said 'My husband.'
"She called me her husband." I couldn't help chuckling, discreetly trying to hide my blushing face with my hand.
She placed her hands on her hips, eyes dating and hair flying.
"I am his fucking mate, his Luna and I clearly heard him say he already has a mate. Me!" She pointed to herself with a grin. "So listen to me when I say, as for your apologies, we accept them even if we know they are not coming from your heart but what can we do. We don't want to make you out enemies right, honey?" She turned to me, I blinked, shocked by the sudden name.
I stumbled to sit straight.
"Ahem! Y...yes...no...I don't care if they are our enemies but we don't also want enemies...honey." I hoped what I said made sense but it seems it did.
Because she nodded and smiled, pointing at me.
"See? What he said. Now please take your females and beautiful women back to your pack. I am not interested in sharing my mate."
The alphas blinked, not moving.
"But we can..." Victor tried to protest.
"You bring nothing but disrespect to me and him. Get out! Now!" She roared
They flinched, their faces growing paler, knowing better than to push further.
"Good day...next time."
"Sorry for...everything."
They turned, their entourages following, muttering their apologies under their breath. We watched them leave until the doors closed behind them. I stood up and walked to her, placing a hand gently on her waist as I turned her to face me.
"Are you okay?"
She nodded, her jaw clenched. “Yeah. Just a bit pissed at them, offering you women even after telling them you had a mate. I was ready to tear them apart with my teeth." I nodded, glad I wasn't the only person who felt that way.
I lifted her face with a finger, to meet my eyes, caressing her cheeks softly.
"Its alright, no matter what they would have said, I wouldn't leave you and take another woman or women for anything in the world."
She smiled, her eyes crinkling at the edges as she rose on her toes and gave me a kiss, when I moved to try to depend the kiss, she stopped me by pushing my shoulders back and giving me a chiding look.
"Remember we still have the envelope to look at.”
I raised my head, rolling my eyes.
"Right, the envelope."
"I hope I came in time, what did the envelope say? And what did the alphas want?" Griffin walked in, glancing curiously.
"You're here just in time." I answered. "As for the alphas, nothing serious. Just some apologies and a peace treaty."
"Okay, so what about the envelope."
Aurora brought it out from her pocket.
"That's what I'm about to see."
Griffin and I crowded behind her, looking intently as she opened the envelope. A single piece of paper was found, folded in it. She opened it slowly for us to read, it said.
"THE PAST IS ALIVE! I KNOW YOU THINK YOU DESERVE WHAT YOU HAVE NOW. BUT IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME AND I WILL MAKE SURE YOU LOSE EVERYTHING. I WILL GET BACK WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN MINE!!!"
The words were written in bold letters with red ink, at least I hoped it was red ink.
"Oh no!" Aurora gasped, throwing the paper to the ground and covering her mouth with trembling hands. Her eyes were wide and her face pale as she stared at the paper like it was going to rise and attack her.
"Could it...could be Desmond? Is...is he alive? Do you think its him that sent this?" She asked with trembling voice.
I unconsciously placed my hand snug around her to calm her down even though my eyes never left the paper and my mind ran at a fast race. There is mine way it could be Desmond, this time when we killed him, I made sure he had been real enough to die. We even burnt his body, there is no way it could be him. I hugged her trembling body close to mine, she rested her nose in the crook of my neck, taking in deep whiffs of my scent. My scent could help calm her down so it was a good thing she was doing.
"It's alright, Aurora. I don't know who sent this nor do I have any idea but I can assure you that there is no way the sense is Desmond."
She shook her head, inhaling and exhaling.
"How can you be so sure? The person clearly knows me, he targeted me, no one else. Who else could it be if not Desmond."
"Because we killed Desmond. You, killed Desmond, you burnt him to a crisp and made sure he was nothing but ashes."
"Yes." Griffin nodded, though he had a furrow on his brow. "We were all there when you killed him, putting an end to that bastard's life. He's not the one doing this, it has to be someone else."
She was silent for a while, then in a softer and calmer voice.
"What if that was a clone like the last time?"
I shook my head, placing a kiss on the top of her head, rubbing her back in soothing motions.
"There is no way it could have been a clone, he didn't have enough time to prepare that, I'm sure. So don't worry, he's dead."
"You are right in that aspect, it's definitely not Desmond." A voice called out softly.
"Mom!"
