Chapter 136: The Ten Billion Dollar Contract

Chapter 136: The Ten Billion Dollar Contract

After hanging up on Dominic, Catherine's mini computer beside her made a crisp sound.

She sat down and started the computer, plugged in her custom-made network card, and connected directly to the dark web through a network line with a completely obscured IP address.

Even the Windsor family couldn't trace her late-night network activity.

Jared sent a message: "Boss, I've figured it out. Lila called you insisting you go to the hospital, most likely because Oliver called her this morning."

"Oliver?"

"Yeah, Oliver seems to want you to marry Brent, that gambling addict who owes a ton of money. Should we take care of him?"

"No need to take care of it ourselves and get our hands dirty. Just let Brent's creditors come knocking."

Brent owed a mountain of debt, and those underground casinos in Osflow all had some connection to the Galactic Aurora Collective.

Back when Catherine was learning about gambling stones with Oscar, she dominated the underground casinos with a deck of cards and accidentally ended up with some shady businesses.

Fortunately, they'd all been obedient over the years and stayed out of trouble.

Jared laughed when he heard this. "Good. You've been too merciful before. Mercury and the others worked overnight to get Elodie's DNA that was sealed away. Now we just need Oliver's. How about I go deal with Oliver?"

Jared had been wanting to teach Oliver a lesson for ages!

This Oliver kept doing bad things, not realizing that without Catherine secretly supporting him from behind, making the kind of money he has now would be just a pipe dream.

But Catherine's kindness was completely mistaken by Oliver as his own business talent.

A guy like him should be a homeless bum!

Catherine said calmly, "I'll go myself. Where are they now?"

"They're about to arrive at Bright Heal Hospital. I'll be waiting outside for you."

Catherine agreed, closed the palm-sized computer, and quickly disassembled it, reassembling it into an inconspicuous ornament that she placed on the desk.

After finishing all this, she quietly left the Windsor Villa without anyone noticing.

Late at night, at Bright Heal Hospital.

Oliver sat in a wheelchair, being pushed by Celeste into the hospital, followed by several shady-looking people from the Brown family.

Declan stopped a nurse and asked with a forced smile, "Excuse me, we're looking for Lila. Which room is she in?"

"Lila is in the ICU. It's not visiting hours now. Come back tomorrow morning at eight."

Oliver was stunned!

How did Lila end up in the ICU?

When he called her during the day, she sounded fine!

If Lila was sick, where were they going to find Catherine?

Declan got anxious. "Oliver, where are we supposed to find Catherine now? I don't care, she has to marry our Brent!"

Oliver was also annoyed.

His eyes scanned around the hospital corridor and suddenly spotted a familiar figure at the end of the hallway.

"Quick, quick, quick, push me over there!"

Celeste pushed Oliver straight toward the person at the end of the corridor. "You're Catherine's father, right? You came to our house to pick up Catherine last time. Do you remember me?"

Dylan, the driver who was handling some hospital procedures for Marcus, looked at Oliver with confusion.

Who's this?

Looks kind of familiar.

Oliver quickly tried to jog Dylan's memory: "Last time you were working as a gatekeeper at the Windsor Villa for Ms. Windsor, and we met then too!"

Come to think of it, Catherine's father was probably a security guard for the Windsor family, which is how Catherine got the chance to meet people from the Windsor family.

Dylan frowned. "You're Catherine's former adoptive father? I have things to do. Move aside."

This family treated Catherine terribly—everyone in the Windsor family knew that!

If they weren't in a hospital with cameras everywhere, Dylan would want to slap them around.

Catherine is such a gentle and understanding person—they must have had something wrong with their brains to treat her so badly!

Oliver was still thinking about the subsidies from Tranquil County and wasn't about to let Dylan go.

"We're both Catherine's fathers, we're all family."

"Who's family with you people? I'm not Catherine's father. What exactly do you want?"

Oliver rubbed his hands together. "Well, I heard you get some subsidies from Tranquil County? Since we raised Catherine for so many years, shouldn't we get some money too?"

Dylan finally understood—they came specifically to ask for money!

"Since you didn't want the 10 billion dollar contract we offered you before, now you want benefits? Too late!"

Oliver was shocked on the spot!

10 billion dollars!

How much did you say? Are you sure it's 10 billion dollars? When was this?

"When I picked up Catherine, according to her biological parents' wishes, I brought you a thank-you gift worth 10 billion dollars, but you had the nanny destroy that contract. Now you want benefits? Dream on!"

Oliver's voice was trembling.

"Can you tell me, what exactly is the status of Catherine's biological parents?"

How could ordinary people come up with a 10 billion dollar contract?

Dylan waved over some special forces soldiers. "Throw them out. They're an eyesore."

He didn't want to waste another word on them!

They mistreated Catherine before, and now that they know they can get benefits from Catherine, they come crawling back?

Absolutely shameless!

"No! Don't throw me out! Tell me clearly, who are Catherine's parents!"

Dylan looked disgusted!

"Haven't seen someone this shameless in a long time. Get lost!"

Watching them being thrown out, Dylan finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Oliver's head was spinning!

"Celeste, do you think Catherine's family really could come up with a 10 billion dollar contract?"

And that Dylan just now could actually command special forces soldiers. Oliver suddenly had an ominous feeling.

Could it be that Catherine's family weren't poor farmers working the land in the mountains?

Celeste was also puzzled.

"That can't be right. If Catherine's family was really rich, why would she work as a caregiver? The clothes she wears aren't expensive either."

Those clothes didn't even have logos—definitely not designer brands.

Oliver nodded.

"That makes sense. That guy just now might really be Catherine's father, just putting on airs. Whatever, once we find Catherine, we'll ask her directly."

As Oliver was thinking, he looked up and suddenly saw Dubhe standing not far away!

His eyes lit up, and he quickly had Celeste push him over.

"You're Catherine's friend? I saw you before in Serenitia City!"

Dubhe looked expressionlessly at Oliver in front of him.

He had accompanied Catherine to handle some business in Serenitia City before—Oliver must have seen him then.

"You're Catherine's classmate, right? Our whole family came to the hospital, and suddenly we can't reach Catherine. Can you help me contact her? Look at how sick I am, and Catherine won't even come see me. Even if Catherine is heartless toward me, I can't blame her!"

Dubhe felt his fists itching just looking at him.

Dubhe had the least threatening appearance in the Galactic Aurora Collective—friendly smile, round face that looked a bit easy to bully.

Oliver could tell at a glance that this was definitely an honest person who'd be easy to fool!

Sure enough, he just shed two tears and Dubhe pushed his wheelchair toward the hospital exit.

"I'll take you to find her."

Oliver was overjoyed! He quickly told everyone behind him to follow!

They had six people total this time. Even if he had to tie Catherine up, he'd bring her back. Once Catherine went back with him, everything else would be up to him.
