Chapter 135 Shocked the Entire Windsor Family
What do you think of Lila?
Charles didn't expect her to ask this, but since she brought it up, he started thinking about it.
He touched his strong jawline and let out a sigh.
"To be honest, it's complicated."
"When we were kids, none of us actually had a good relationship with grandma. She didn't like mom, and she wasn't very fond of us either. You probably won't even believe this, but when we were little, we had it worse than Esme."
"That's also why Richard and Philip don't like Esme - because Lila always favored her."
"She said Esme was a child sent to her by God, and that mom would lose you because of sin and lack of devotion. She said you had bad luck and that mom was cursed."
"When Esme was little, she got whatever she wanted. Even if she took Juniper's things, Lila would blame Juniper."
With such extreme favoritism, plus Lila constantly being harsh on Aurora, it would be strange if the Windsor family kids had any feelings for Lila!
"When I was really young, Lila said kids shouldn't eat too much at night so they could grow taller. I always thought it was true, until Esme came to our house and I realized she could eat her fill!"
Talking about these things made Charles feel a bit embarrassed.
It was like even now, at his age, as the head of the Windsor family, he still remembered that food he didn't get to eat as a child!
"As for Esme, one time we found out she secretly took Juniper's things and broke them. Juniper and Philip beat her up pretty badly, but Lila still made Juniper apologize and wouldn't let Juniper eat."
"So dad moved us out to live separately. About grandma, on one hand I feel she's an elder and should be respected, but on the other hand, it's really hard to respect her."
He originally wanted to put it more tactfully, but somehow, around Catherine he always wanted to say more, to share everything with her!
He never had these feelings with Juniper.
Maybe it was because this was his sister!
Catherine nodded. "I understand."
The fact that Charles could say this much meant they had no real feelings for Lila.
Catherine took out the paternity test report and handed it to Charles.
"Charles, this is for you."
Charles looked puzzled, but after seeing what was on it, he suddenly stood up, his eyes wide!
"Catherine, where did this come from?"
"I was curious, so I asked Gavin to do it."
Although Gavin didn't know about this, she promised him he could see the latest pharmaceutical research report, so Gavin would definitely admit to it reluctantly.
Charles looked at the contents, completely shocked!
Since Lila and Bethany weren't direct relatives, that meant they had no blood relation to Lila at all!
So that's why Catherine asked so many questions and cared about how they viewed Lila?
She must have been worried they had good feelings for Lila and would be upset after finding out!
Catherine was really so kind and thoughtful!
Charles almost cried on the spot.
He forced himself to calm down and reached out to touch Catherine's face. "Thank you for your hard work, Catherine. Who else knows about this?"
"I only told you. You can decide when to tell dad."
Charles knew the Windsor family members' temperaments best, so letting him decide was the best choice.
"You did great. We really need to think carefully about this. Grandpa's health isn't good - if we tell him directly, he might not be able to handle it."
"Grandpa probably already guessed."
After all, Marcus had come through the gunfire and battles of the military district back in the day.
Catherine had asked Ethan why someone would want to harm Marcus. Ethan's answer was that Marcus had been active at the border when he was young and offended many people - people whose names Ethan didn't even dare mention now.
You could imagine how mighty and commanding Marcus was in his youth!
Felix and Samuel had hinted at it so many times - how could Marcus not know?
Charles was still shocked.
"How would grandpa know?"
At the door, there was a knock. Marcus stood outside, being pushed by Bethany.
Marcus looked composed, his white hair still showing a sharp and spirited look in his eyes.
"Catherine, let me see it."
Catherine handed the report to Marcus.
It was written clearly, enough to prove many things.
Marcus looked at it for a long time, then suddenly laughed!
"Good! Good! This settles one of my concerns. When Lila's mental state is better, we'll ask her clearly whose child Bethany really is."
Bethany never expected that Lila wasn't his biological mother, and that Esme was actually Lila's real granddaughter.
He became a motherless child overnight?
What a shock!
"Is this real or fake? Then who's my mom? Is she still alive?"
"We'll have to ask Lila about that! But I doubt she'll tell the truth."
"Wait, dad, you don't even know who you had a child with back then? I'm your biological son, and you don't know who my real mom is. Where am I supposed to find her?"
Marcus kicked Bethany without mercy!
"Get lost! It's not your turn to talk to me like that!"
Bethany didn't dare say more.
Marcus said slowly, "If Esme is Lila's real granddaughter, then who is her biological son? It's probably not that simple. Charles, I trust you to handle things - go investigate and tell me what you find."
"Okay."
Marcus looked at Catherine again. "Did Lila's episode happen because of those Vitality Pills?"
Catherine nodded.
"Yes, she took too many Vitality Pills. Esme must have forcibly triggered the drug residue in her body, causing her mental breakdown."
Bethany looked at Marcus, then at Catherine.
"Dad, Catherine, what are you talking about? I don't understand any of this. What are Vitality Pills?"
Marcus glared at him and ignored Bethany's questions.
Thank goodness his grandchildren were all smart enough - Bethany was completely useless.
Marcus looked at Catherine and Charles with satisfaction, and gave Bethany, who was still asking questions, another kick!
Annoying!
By the time the whole family returned to their rooms to rest, it was already late at night.
Catherine lay in bed, answering a call from Dominic.
"Catherine, I'm already at the airport. See you tomorrow."
"Okay, I'll pick you up tomorrow."
Dominic smiled. "No need, just wait for me at your gallery. I want to see who dares to go against you!"
What kind of people dare to bully Catherine?
Thinking about seeing Catherine and the Galactic Aurora Collective soon, Dominic felt energized!
"See you tomorrow - let me see what kind of people are in Imperia City!"
Catherine smiled gently, feeling warm inside.
"Okay, see you tomorrow."
