Chapter 115 Grievance

"You're a girl. It's normal to cry when someone you love deceive you." Suddenly, Lorenzo's voice came from behind.

Daphne started in surprise but quickly steadied herself, brows furrowing into a deep frown as she whirled around.

"What do you want now?" she snorted.

Lorenzo's face changed at her harsh attitude, and he finally spoke with a hint of helplessness, "I was manipulated by Lewis too. At least I was honest with you. I didn't deceive you or use you. Why take it out on me?"

As he spoke, Lorenzo's expression grew more aggrieved.

Daphne finally realized she was indeed misdirecting her anger.

The Anderson family's internal conflict was their own business, and everyone had different stances, making it hard to say who was right or wrong.

But in dealing with her, Lorenzo was indeed more genuine than Lewis.

Calming down, Daphne looked at him apologetically, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to."

"I get it. After this mess, I definitely can't stay at the Anderson Group. I'll probably be sent to some remote place. So... would you consider coming with me? We could work together. Without the Anderson Group, we shouldn't do too badly, right?"

Lorenzo crossed his arms and smiled at Daphne, clearly extending an invitation to collaborate.

Hearing this, Daphne was momentarily taken aback.

Seeing her stunned expression, Lorenzo was shocked, "You...you wouldn't want to stay here, would you?"

"I won't stay here," Daphne took a deep breath and then slumped her shoulders, "But I don't know what I'll do next. Sorry, I can't reply you right now."

After saying this, Daphne walked past Lorenzo and headed outside.

Her mind was a mess, and she didn't want to stay at the company any longer. She hailed a cab and went back to the orphanage.

Moira's health had mostly recovered. She didn't like the hospital atmosphere and couldn't stop worrying about the children at the orphanage, so she had returned.

Seeing Daphne come back, Moira immediately greeted her. Noticing her pale face, she didn't ask much but made her a bowl of ravioli.

The orphanage's conditions weren't great, and resources were scarce, so meals were usually simple. When Daphne was a child, she only got to eat something good during holidays or when she scored perfectly on exams, and ravioli was one of those treats.

Even though Daphne no longer lacked money for food, the Ravioli was the taste of her childhood and her comfort.

After taking a bite of the Ravioli, Daphne's grievances peaked, and tears uncontrollably streamed down her face. She ate two bowls of Ravioli mixed with her tears.

"Slow down. There's plenty of ravioli now. What's wrong? Why are you crying?"

Moira looked at her tear-streaked face with a pang of heartache, then took a tissue and wiped her tears.

Daphne was an orphan and didn't know who her parents were. Moira had taken care of her since she was little, so Daphne always considered Moira her mom.

"Moira, I... I was used by someone. He not only used me but also lied to me." The more Daphne spoke, the more aggrieved she felt, and her tears flowed even harder.

Although she didn't say who the despicable person was, Moira could roughly guess.

She gently patted Daphne's head. "I know it's tough out there on your own, but remember, you can always come back here. This is your home, okay?"

"Moira, I hate him. I hate this place. Let's leave, okay?" Daphne looked up, her eyes brimming with tears, at Moira.

Moira was already at retirement age and it was time for her to relax.

Hearing this, Moira sighed helplessly, took a tissue, carefully wiped away Daphne's tears, and tidied her hair.

"You've always been strong and resilient since you were a child. You never minded when other kids bullied you. Now, you must be really hurt to want to leave."

"I'm old now and don't want to run around anymore. You're still young and can go wherever you want. I'll stay here. If you get tired of traveling, come back. This place will always welcome you and be your home, okay?"

Moira's voice was very gentle.

But her attitude was clear. She couldn't bear to leave and didn't want to abandon the children.

She was Daphne's caretaker, but she was also the caretaker of all the children.

Daphne had grown up, but the other children were still very young and needed her the most.

Daphne hesitated, "Moira, but your health isn't good..."

"Don't worry. I'll just live here and won't overwork myself." Moira smiled lightly.

She knew that if she left with Daphne, she would be a burden, and she didn't want to trouble her.

"Moira, I want to stay here tonight, okay?"

Daphne knew that many things couldn't be forced. Since Moira didn't want to leave, she wouldn't insist. She just wanted to stay for one night.

Seeing Daphne like this, Moira's heart softened. She gently pinched her cheek. "This is your home. You can do whatever you want."

The Anderson Mansion.

The atmosphere in the house was very tense.

Vernon saw Lewis walk in as if nothing had happened, and his face turned very ugly.

He picked up a teacup from the table and threw it, but he controlled his strength well. The teacup shattered at Lewis's feet without hurting him.

"Dad, what are you doing?" Gloria stood up, displeased. "This isn't Lewis's fault. It's your illegitimate son causing trouble, isn't it? Lewis is protecting the Anderson Group's interests. How can you blame him?"

Vernon glared at her, his tone fierce. "Shut up!"

Although Gloria was assertive in front of Daphne, she didn't have much say at home.

Facing Vernon's rage, she had no choice but to keep quiet.

Lewis glanced at the shattered teacup at his feet and spoke calmly, "Isn't Gloria right?"

"You!" Vernon was furious. He stood up and rushed to Lewis. "You are brothers, and now you're causing such a scene at the company. Isn't it embarrassing? The impact is terrible!"

Lewis found this laughable. "He struck first."

Indeed, Lorenzo was at fault, so even though Vernon was upset, he couldn't go too far.

"I'll talk to Lorenzo, but you are brothers after all." Vernon's main concern was family unity.
