Chapter 394
Chapter 394
"So, she came to me and said all that. Her motives could be anything, like hoping you'd give her money? Or maybe just to show off that she's more important than me? Or maybe just to stroke her own ego."
I had to admit, Raymond's analysis was spot on. It sounded pretty plausible.
Emily furrowed her brows, thinking for a moment before she said, "I agree more with the last two reasons. Brynn probably wants to be with you openly. I don't think she'd risk getting beaten up by me just for some money."
Raymond's eyebrows twitched slightly before he relaxed and a playful smile appeared on his lips. "So, what do you want me to do? I don't want to be liked by such a fool. Are college students really this naive nowadays?"
"I guess Brynn hasn't had much experience with relationships, so she fantasizes about being the heroine in a novel who meets a CEO. She probably holds you in high regard, and at night, she might even be dreaming about romantic scenes with you," Emily analyzed sincerely.
Raymond's expression shifted slightly, and a faint, mocking smile appeared. "Seems like you know a lot about this. Do you often do the same?"
Emily smirked. "Do I need to fantasize? To be honest, I used to write novels online when I was in high school, and they were pretty good. But I stopped when I had to prepare for college and never wrote again."
"Really? Emily, you keep surprising me. What other skills do you have that I don't know about?" Raymond looked at her with admiration.
Emily smiled slightly. "There's a lot you don't know. Just based on what Brynn told me last night, if it were any other woman, do you think they wouldn't have killed her on the spot?"
"I believe it, but you wouldn't," Raymond said.
"Thank you."
Raymond thought for a moment before saying, "I'll handle Brynn. Either I'll fire her, or I'll find her a job at another company."
But Emily felt that firing Brynn directly wasn't appropriate. After thinking it over, she said, "Firing her outright would make me look petty. I have another way to make her leave on her own. If she continues to daydream, it will prove she's not mentally fit for the job at the Carter Group. We can fire her then."
Raymond was puzzled. "What do you plan to do?"
"Let her see that our relationship is strong and unbreakable, that no one can come between us. I also want to make her realize that she's not even close to being my rival. My rivals are either more talented or more beautiful than me, and Brynn is neither, right?" Emily lifted her head proudly, full of confidence.
It wasn't arrogance; Emily truly had the credentials to back it up.
Raymond raised an eyebrow at her plan. "What do you mean by 'let her see our relationship is strong'? Our relationship is already strong."
With that, Raymond cupped the back of her head and kissed her again, this time with a dominating intensity, as if to release all the frustration from the previous night.
Emily didn't bother to resist and responded with a hint of mischief, occasionally biting Raymond's lips with enough force to punish him.
Feeling Emily's actions, Raymond didn't rush. He continued to kiss her deeply, enduring the pain with warmth in his heart.
After a while, Raymond finally let go, looking at her with affection. "Go freshen up and then come down for breakfast. After a night of hunger, I'm sure you'll have a good appetite this morning."
Suddenly, Emily covered her mouth in horror, realizing she hadn't brushed her teeth since waking up.
Did that mean her mouth...
Thinking of this, Emily felt embarrassed and mortified, wanting to find a place to hide.
Raymond, knowing what she was thinking, added fuel to the fire. "Don't worry, your mouth doesn't smell bad at all."
Emily's heart sank completely. She blushed, gritted her teeth, and pushed Raymond out of the room. "Get out! I need to freshen up and change!"
"Okay, sweetheart." Raymond left with a mischievous smile.
About ten minutes later, Emily reluctantly came downstairs, her face still flushed. Raymond, unfazed by the earlier incident, pulled out a chair for her to sit.
When Emily saw the delicious spread on the table, her eyes lit up.
She hadn't expected Raymond to bring back so much Mexican food last night. It was enough for four people, and all her favorites.
Her previously gloomy mood instantly brightened.
No matter what, good food could always heal everything.
"Why did you buy so much last night? Were you planning to let Brynn eat with us?" Emily couldn't help but voice her suspicion.
Raymond smirked. "Is that possible? I told you last night, this is our private residence. Outsiders aren't allowed. After she entered your room, I took her home and scolded her, telling her she wasn't needed anymore."
"Really? Did she cry in the car?"
"Yes, she did. But so what? Wrong is wrong, and her actions last night were just one mistake after another," Raymond said calmly.
Emily nodded thoughtfully. "I didn't understand before, but now I do. Brynn barging into the hospital room twice and insisting on taking care of me was to prevent us from being alone. She wanted to disrupt what she imagined as our private world. Following us back to Serenity Estates was to satisfy her own desires, or maybe to see what her fantasy future home looked like."
Raymond's eyes deepened, and he pursed his lips. "Emily, you really have a novelist's imagination. But you might be right."
"More or less. I bet she'll find an excuse to contact you today."
