✨Chapter 17✨
Dylan woke up the next morning to see himself in a hospital.
"How are you feeling now?" a nurse asked him.
"What happened?" Dylan asked instead.
"You were brought in yesterday after losing consciousness. We expected you to wake up after just a few minutes, but you are just waking up now," the nurse explained.
"Can I get discharged now?" Dylan asked.
"Sure, but you need to pay for treatment, so you can go and fill in the necessary documents and make payment," the nurse said and left.
After filling in the necessary things, Dylan have his credit card to the cashier for payment.
"It says there is insufficient fund in your account," the cashier said.
"Insufficient fund? What do you mean?" Dylan laughed dryly.
"I guess we should try it again," the cashier suggested.
Dylan put his pin many times, but the card was still saying the same thing. A lady who was also about to make payment heard of it and paid for him.
"Thank you so much, I don't know how to repay you for this" Dylan said in embarrassment.
"It's fine. I know you are a billionaire, so I guess you got caught up in a situation. I only did what anyone would have done," the woman concluded and left.
Dylan couldn't help but sigh nonstop. He thought about what to do and decided to check his house once again. He didn't have money to board a cab, but fortunately, the hospital was not too far from his house, so he got there after walking for about an hour.
When he got there, he noticed a lot of things had changed about the house.
"I guess the house was really sold," he mumbled to himself.
He took out his phone and called his secretary. That was the only thing he had with him apart from the clothes he was wearing.
"Lisa, I'm in a bit of a situation right now, so can you send some money into my account from the company money? I will return it back soon" he said.
"You fired me, sir, or have you forgotten?" Lisa asked.
"Fire you? Why will I do that?" Dylan asked.
"Well, all the workers in the company were fired, and I heard it was bought by someone else already," Lisa explained.
Dylan couldn't say a word, and the phone slowly dropped from his ear. Lisa ended the call when she didn't hear him say anything again.
"What is going on? It was only yesterday that I didn't go to work, right? How did all these happen in less than twenty-four hours?" he asked himself.
Meanwhile, Julia was at work that day when she heard her workers talking about Dylan's company. She pretended to be uninterested in their discussion, but she was actually trying to hear what they were saying.
"What are they talking about again?" she decided to ask Mia to satisfy her curiosity.
"They are talking about Dylan's company that was sold," Mia said.
"Dylan sold his company?" Julia scoffed.
"We also don't understand that part yet, but the company was sold, and the name is going to be changed soon," Mia explained.
"Alright, you can go" Julia dismissed.
She kept thinking about what Mia had told her throughout the day and couldn't understand why Dylan would sell his company that was doing well.
The workers started checking out for the day, but Julia just sat in her office, lost in thought.
"I'm leaving now ma'am" Mia said.
"Alright, I'm going to leave too," Julia said and took her bag.
"I didn't know if I should tell you this or not since you didn't ask me but Dylan's mansion was sold too and the people moved in today" Mia said.
"What?! Even his mansion was sold?" Julia exclaimed.
"Yes. I'm leaving now," Mia said and left.
"Something is definitely fishy here. It doesn't make sense that he will sell his mansion and company for no reason," Julia mumbled to herself and left.
After thinking and thinking about where to spend the night, Dylan decided to go to Julia's house. He knew it was shameless to do that but he was sure that Julia wouldn't kick him out into the streets knowing he had nowhere to go.
He has been trying to reach Nicole for a while, but her number is not reachable. He found out from some workers in the company that she sold his company and house. Even the other branches of his company don't belong to him anymore, and there's no money in his account. She really sucked him dry.
Dylan began to walk again to Julia's house, which was quite far compared to the distance he walked before.
He walked for over two hours and finally got to her house. He decided to just sit outside for a while before knocking on the gate, and he didn't know when he slept.
When he woke up, Julia was right in front of him and he quickly stood up in embarrassment.
"I'm sorry, I was going to knock, but I fell asleep," he apologized.
"It's fine. What are you doing here?" Julia asked.
"I don't have anywhere else to go. I know I shouldn't be here, but if I don't come here, I will sleep on the street," Dylan said.
"So? After looking through your list of friends, I was the only one you could come to. What makes you think I will let you in? I'm no longer the Julia you married. I was too gullible back then, and I didn't realize I was being used. I won't repeat the same mistake, so just leave before I make you leave," Julia said and got into her car.
Peterson heard the honk and came to open the gate for her, and he also noticed Dylan after Julia drove in.
"Mis Julia told me not to let you in again, so please leave," Peterson said and locked the gate.
"Why do you look pale? Let me guess since only one person can make you like this. It's Dylan, right?" Andrea teased.
Julia didn't get to answer because her triplets came to hug her tight.
"We really missed you Mommy. Where did you go today? You are always at home whenever we return from school," Hayden asked.
"Mommy went to work. I'm sure you don't know, but Mommy has a fashion company, and I will take you there soon." Julia smiled at them.
"Really mommy? You also have a company like those people we used to see on TV?" Kayden exclaimed.
"Your mommy is rich too, so don't look down on her. With her wealth, she can take care of you till you grow up, so I hope you don't keep asking for your dad and just make your mom happy instead," Andrea said.
"Yes, second, Mommy" the three boys chorused.
"What?! You just called me mommy," Andrea screamed and hugged them tight.
"Don't be too excited. You should get married and also have your own children. I want to hear someone call me Aunt," Julia said.
"Excuse me," Peterson said as he walked in.
"Yes, what is it?" Andrea asked.
"Mr Dylan refused to leave. He has been sitting outside since, and it's a bit cold outside. What should I do?" he asked Julia.
"What?! Dylan is here? No wonder you looked pale when you came in." Andrea rolled her eyes.
"Let him in since it's cold outside, and he refused to leave," Andrea said.
"I don't want him here. He said he had nowhere to go, and my house was the only place he could think of," Julia said.
"You are joking, right?" Why won't Dylan have a place to go? He's one of the top five richest men in the USA," Andrea said.
"I don't know the full details too, but that's what he said, and it didn't seem like he was lying. How can I live with someone I was once married to?" Julia asked.
"We will deal with that later. First, let him in," Andrea said to Peterson.
