✨Chapter 16✨

"I'm sorry, I don't think we should be doing this so soon," Julia said and pulled away just as Jerry was about to take off her clothes.

"I'm sorry, I'm really sorry for not controlling myself," Jerry apologized.

"It's okay, it's not entirely your fault anyway" Julia said.

"I should take my leave now, and I hope you will eat something before going to bed," Jerry said and stood up.

"Jerry" Julia called and also stood up.

"This is like the first time I've heard you call my name. What is it?" Jerry asked.

"I just want to let you know that I don't really have feelings for you right now. I only agreed to be your girlfriend because of my ex-husband, but I hope to develop feelings for you as we go on," she confessed.

"It's okay, there's no problem with that. The fact that you agreed to be my girlfriend is already enough for me, so you don't need to feel pressured. Like I said, I'm ready to take things slow with you" Jerry smiled.

"Thank you." Julia hugged him and saw him off.

"What is this? Is it just me or does it seem like something is going on between both of you?" Andrea teased as soon as Julia returned inside.

"You are free to think whatever you want. Is there something for me to eat?" Julia asked.

"I thought you weren't going to eat this night" Andrea rolled her eyes.

"So, is there food or not?" Julia demanded.

"There is food, but I guess you will have to microwave it first since it has gotten cold. I'm going to bed now. Make sure you don't stay up late. Goodnight," Andrea concluded and left.

*Next morning*

Dylan took his bath and left the house as early as possible. He asked his driver to take him to Julia's mansion, and he was there in no time.

Julia was just about to take the kids to school when she heard a honk at the gate and Peterson went to check it out.

"It's Mr. Dylan. Should I open the gate for him?" Peterson asked.

"We are going to open the gate since we are going out anyway, but just drive past him and don't stop. After today, make sure you don't open the gate for him again," Julia said.

Just like she said, Peterson opened the gate, but she and the triplets were in the car already, and the windows were tinted, so Dylan couldn't see who was in it even though they drove past him.

He got down from his car and rang the doorbell only to meet Andrea.

"What are you doing here?" Andrea folded her arms.

"I'm here to see Julia, is she in?" he asked anxiously.

"She drove past you just now, didn't you see her?" Andrea asked.

"I couldn't see who was in the car, so I didn't know. She will be back soon, right? I will wait for her here," Dylan said.

"You will wait for her? Didn't I tell you that she moved on? There is no need to come and see her after so many years," Andrea scoffed.

"I told you I lost my memory. I've been regaining them bit by bit for close to a year now, but I couldn't understand it because there was no one to explain it to me. After you came yesterday, I was finally able to remember everything. I know I've wronged her, and I know it's probably too late, but I still want to try to right my wrongs," Dylan said.

"Whatever! You can try as much as you want, I won't stop you. If you want to wait for her, wait outside," Andrea said and shut the door.

Dylan stood outside until Julia returned about thirty minutes later. She purposely stayed that long so that Dylan would have left before she came back, but she was surprised to still see him.

"I don't want to hear anything so you can leave," Julia said before he could say anything.

"Julia, I know I've wronged you. I don't have any excuse because my stupidity caused all this, but can you please forgive me? For the love we share, please have pity on me and forgive me. I promise never to repeat the same mistake," Dylan pleaded.

"You won't even be able to repeat the same mistake because we can't be together anymore. And did you say love? I'm sorry, but I don't love you anymore. If there's something I feel for you, then it's pure hatred for all the things you made me go through. Leave now while I'm being nice, and don't ever come here again." Julia concluded and went in.

Dylan tried following after her, but Peterson blocked his way.

"Can you please let me go in? If Julia doesn't forgive me, I can't go on living," Dylan said.

"She also almost ended her life because of you, so I don't blame her for this. If she forgives you, then I will quit working for her. She had to endure so much all alone, so you don't deserve any pity whether you lost your memory or not," Peterson said.

"I know I don't deserve any pity, but I'm really sorry. I wasn't thinking straight, and I've realized my mistake now. Can you please tell her that?" Dylan begged.

"I don't want to be rude to you, so leave now unless you want me to throw you out. I'm dead serious!" Peterson stated.

"Please, just once. I just want to talk to her," Dylan pleaded.

"Leave now, I'm not joking" Peterson warned.

Dylan refused to listen until Peterson wanted to throw him out for real, and his driver intervened.

"I think we should leave now. We can come back some other time," the driver said.

Dylan had no choice but to leave with his driver. Instead of heading back home, he went to the beach.

He sat there quietly for hours and just stared at the beautiful view and the people who were playing on the beach.

When it was evening, he finally decided to return home.

Surprisingly, he met some people in the compound and all his workers were outside.

"What is going on here?" Dylan asked and walked up to them.

"What is going on? You sold this mansion to us, but you didn't even prepare to move out. Are we supposed to help you move out after paying for the house?" the lady snapped.

"Sold this mansion? What are you talking about?" Dylan asked.

"Are you trying to feign ignorance after receiving that huge amount of money? I get that you are well-known, but it doesn't mean you can try to cheat people like this. If you want to keep denying it, we can go to court and settle the case," the woman said.

"Is it true that you really sold the house, sir?" one of the workers asked.

"We know you are paying us a lot, but you should have at least informed us before doing this to us," another worker said.

All the workers began to complain from left and right, and it sounded distant and distant to Dylan until he lost consciousness.
