her sarcastic remark
her sarcastic remark
Violet’s P.O.V. (Continued)
I glared at Victoria while coughing, but she only grinned mischievously. “Mom, you should be careful while eating. What if you hurt my brother?” Natasha scolded me in her childish wish, sounding so righteous that it surprised me.
Victoria gave me a glass of water while Natasha started rubbing my chest lightly.
I drank some water and gave the glass back to Victoria.
“Shall I feed you now?” Natasha asked me with concern. I smiled and nodded in response.
She started feeding me again. I looked at Victoria, who was now sitting back to the same place.
“So, are you thinking about settling down with Gordon?” I asked her after I gulped down the content of my mouth after a few spoons.
“Not yet. This is too soon for us.” She replied and I scoffed in disdain. “You two have known each other for more than six years and yet it’s too soon?” I mocked but looked at Natasha cautiously. I breathed out in relief when I saw that Natasha was fully concentrated on feeding me.
“But we just fought and hated each other all those years.” She argued and I twitched my upper lip in disdain.
“Or loved each other secretly?” I asked while tilting my head a little but straightened up my head again when Natasha brought another spoonful of soup.
I took the spoon in my mouth. This wasn’t the first time that Natasha fed me. When we were alone together, she used to feed me while I worked late from home.
“You shouldn’t speak while eating, Mom. This is bad manners.” Natasha scolded me again, making me pout this time.
Victoria giggled but I didn’t look at her, as I was looking at my adorable daughter.
“Finish the meal silently, Violet. After that, you need to finish some work.” Victoria said to me while standing up.
Natasha continued feeding me and I drank the soup silently. It was a comfortable silence and for a moment, it gave me a sense of rare peace.
“Can I go to see grandma, Mom?” Natasha asked me after she finished feeding me.
“You can, love.” I replied to her and looked at Victoria.
“They have shifted her next door. Your father-in-law is still there.” Victoria told me and I nodded in response.
“They could have shifted both of us in the same room. This way, it would be easy for them to take care of us.” I muttered and took the glass of water that Victoria gave me.
“They can, but your mother-in-law still needed some machines and it will be a disturbance for you.” She explained and I nodded in understanding.
I drank the water and gave the glass back to Victoria. Natasha also got off and put the bowl on the side stand.
“Now, it’ your turn to have lunch, Nat.” Victoria said to Nat while taking her to the couch.
“What are we eating, Vic?” Nat asked her excitedly while jumping on her feet a little.
I smiled and took my phone from the other side of the bed.
It was the same time when my phone started ringing.
I took the call and put the phone to my ear.
“Good afternoon, Michael.” I greeted him casually while closing my eyes.
“Are you okay? I heard that you are hospitalized again?” he asked in a concerned voice.
“I am okay. Just exhausted myself when I shouldn’t.” I replied to him nonchalantly.
“You know your body better than anyone else, Violet. You should have been cautious.” He scolded me and I just smiled.
I didn’t know why Dominic doubted Michael for having ulterior motives towards me when all Michael did was to help me whenever I was in dire need of help. He was the reason that Natasha was still alive, and I got a footing in society.
“I know but staying idle all the time is also not me.” I almost sang nonchalantly.
“You will never change. You are not a young girl, Violet. You are now a mother of two kids. You need to be cautious about your health.” He still continued scolding me.
I was annoyed by his scolding, but it still felt good.
I had no one to call as family back then. Sara’s friendship brought her family into my life. They also welcomed me with open hearts, not bothered by my status as an orphan.
“I am okay, Michael.” I still comforted him calmly and slowly opened my eyes.
I heard him taking a deep breath. I waited for him to speak again.
“Anyways. I am out of the country for business. I will be back in three days. I hope that you will be back home by then.” He said to me and I sighed.
“Where did you go?” I asked him casually and looked at Victoria and Natasha. They were eating silently but Victoria was looking at me with a blank gaze.
“London. I told you the last time we met about this.” He replied and I just hummed in response, remembering that he told me about this trip.
“I have to go now, Violet. I will call you later some time.” He told me and I replied with an "okay" before hanging up.
“Don’t you feel that he is now talking to you more than he talked in the past?” Victoria asked me while raising her brows and I knitted my brows in confusion.
“Yeah. But this is normal to show concern to the people who matter to you, right?” I asked her while giving her a knowing look and she scoffed while rolling her eyes.
“Yeah, right.” She replied sarcastically.
“Finish your meal, Vic.” I said to her annoyingly and looked for new mails.
I was the vice CEO of the company branch that Dominic acquired from Mr. Moore. I realized that I hadn’t talked with Zade for quite a while.
I smiled when my phone started ringing and it was Zade who was calling me.
Think the devil and here the devil comes.
I picked up the call and put the phone back on my ear.
“I was just thinking about you before your call came.” I told him after picking up the call.
“I told you that our hearts are connected, Violet. It’s you who never listens to me.” He replied playfully, and I laughed.
“How are you feeling now, kiddo? I heard that you are once again hospitalized.” He asked me with concern when I stopped laughing.
“I am pregnant, Zade, and you know how fragile my health has always been.” I told him casually but felt warmth spreading in my chest.
Zade had always been genuinely concerned about my health after I joined him as his executive assistant. He always treated me like a friend and a daughter.
"I talked o Dominic and we agreed to promote you as the Vice-CEO of your current company, Vic." he suddenly told me, and I jerked my head backward in confusion.
"I am thinking about taking a break for my delivery, Zade. I don't think that this promotion is right for me at this time," I told him about my plans truthfully.
