Chapter 70: she is still shaken

Violet’s P.O.V.

“Mom, Vic said that I will soon have a brother or a sister?” Natasha asked me excitedly, looking at me with her innocent and beautiful eyes.

“What do you want, honey? A brother or a sister?” I asked her while stroking her head as she was lying beside me. I can’t sit for a long and that’s why I was lying with Nat in my side embrace.

My daughter was so sensitive that she didn’t even want to put her hand on my stomach, fearing that she would hurt her sibling inside my belly.

“I want a brother.” She replied excitedly and I raised my brows questioningly, intrigued by her answer.

“They said in the dramas that dads love their daughters the most. I don’t want a sister. She will share dad’s love with me.” She pouted while explaining and I raised my brows in surprise.

“Wow! Someone is possessive over her father’s love, huh?” Victoria teased her while going to the other end of the bed.

“Yes, I love my dad so much, and I don’t want him to love anyone else.” Natasha declared proudly, jerking her head a little.

Victoria and I laughed while listening to her sweet declaration.

Victoria once again laughed while raising the head side of the bed.

“Whoah, Mom! Your bed is awesome!” Natasha exclaimed in shock, sounding excited when the bed started rising.

“You also had the same bed when you were admitted, Nat. There is nothing awesome about these hospital beds except for the fact that they give some comfort to a sick patient lying on them.” Victoria was a bit sarcastic in her tone, but Natasha immediately stiffened.

“What’s wrong, honey? What happened?” I asked Nat immediately.

“Nothing, Mom.” She replied in a low voice, but an alarm went off in my head when I felt a shakiness in her voice.

“Hey,” Victoria approached her after she stopped raising the bed.

I was sure that she also sensed the same thing. Natasha’s hand lying on the upper part of my chest shook a little.

I suddenly realized that we never talked about her accident. We comforted her and tried to make her forget the accident, but she almost died in the accident and then there was her grandmother, who was still in the hospital.

“Can we go back, Mom? We were so happy and safe there. We went to the hospital occasionally, b… but not like this.” She asked me in a low and fearful voice.

I understood her fear and immediately tightened my grip on her small body. I was now almost in a sitting position. So, it was easy for me to pull her closer to my chest.

“There is nothing to worry about, honey. Accidents happen, and they can happen anywhere, okay? The best part is that you didn’t give up and see…. Here you are. Back to me.” I comforted her, but I realized that we needed to talk to her.

She was shaken, and now, I was afraid that she was also having nightmares about the accident. She is just a child. Of course, she is still scared.

“Come here, baby. Mom needs to eat now or else your brother will cry from hunger.” Victoria coaxed her, distracting her mind from the accident while mentioning the child in my belly.

“Mom, you need to eat. I want a healthy baby brother just like I saw in the reels.” She demanded innocently, forgetting her fear immediately.

This is the best thing about the children: they forget bad things easily when they see a reason to be happy.

Victoria took her into her embrace. I saw how reluctant she was to leave me, but she was more concerned about her brother. “I will feed my brother.” She demanded excitedly when Victoria put her on the floor.

“Of course, honey. You are now the elder sister. You should take care of your sibling.” Victoria immediately cooed and gave her the soup bowl. Natasha brought the bowl to me with a wide smile on her lips.

“I want to feed you, Mom, just like Dad feeds you.” She asked while looking at me expectantly.

I smiled and took the bowl from her so that she could climb back on the bed.

Victoria helped her climb. I tried to sit up straight when I saw a painful expression on Natasha’s face. That went away immediately but it was enough for me to be worried about her.

“Did you talk to her doctor?” I asked Victoria after Natasha climbed the bed successfully. She stood up in front of me on her knees.

“Yeah…. She said that Nat is recovering well, but it will take some time before she fully recovers.” She told me with a serious expression on her face.

Natasha took a spoonful of soup from the bowl and brought it to my lips. I felt stiffness in my chest while watching her, but I know that she would be okay.

I took the spoon in my mouth and gulped down the contents.

“Although everything is okay in the company, I think you should hire someone to take care of your work temporarily, Violet. I guess, for the next six or seven months, you should stay away from the company to avoid any stress.” She suggested it with a serious expression while sitting beside my leg, putting her hand on the other side of my legs.

I nodded and took another spoonful of soup. My daughter was so concentrated on feeding me that she didn’t pay attention to our conversation.

She was biting her lower lip while scooping the soup with a steady hand. My daughter is a sensible soul. She always took care of me whenever I fell sick in the past. At that time, we two were the only ones with each other, and she never let me feel alone.

“You are doing a good job taking care of everything, Vic. Why don’t you take over my work temporarily?” I asked her calmly and took the spoon in my mouth while looking at Victoria questioningly.

She immediately shook her head, refusing my suggestion.

“Nah… that will be more hassle for me. My priority is you and Natasha, Violet. You two have always been. In fact, I am thinking of resigning so that I can take care of you two during your pregnancy, and Gordon and I are also planning our future. We are getting old too.” She replied and I raised my brows in surprise.

“But I thought that you two were only testing the waters with each other before committing yourselves to each other?” I asked her and she smiled widely.

“After hating each other for so long, do we still need to test the waters?” she asked and I almost choked on the soup.

I coughed a little, making Natasha worried immediately. “Are you okay, Mom? Am I feeding too fast?” she asked me worriedly and I shook my head while coughing a little.

“Your mom is okay, love. She tried to speak while having food in her mouth. Bad manners, right?” Victoria comforted her while teasing me a little.
