Chapter 47 Congratulatory Party

Chapter 47 Congratulatory Party
JESSICA

"Place the age gap and my relationship with your father aside, I will rather kiss female frogs than a clumsy filthy kid like you."

"You are such a filthy kid and I see now why your father hates you so much."

My heart tightened for the umpteenth time as the harsh words repeated in my head nonstop.

A tear rolled down my face, making me wipe it off as a splash of water hit my leg instantly.

"Weeee!!!!" David sang as he turned himself in the soapy bathtub happily, making more water splash on my leg and the floor from where I am seated on the toilet seat.

I am currently in his bathroom, waiting for him to bathe so I can tug him in.

But he is playing with the water as always.

I don't blame him. I gave him the leverage thanks to my relentless thoughts.

Sighing, I brushed my hair to the back with my hand, moved closer to the tub, and crouched down.

"Let me bathe you," I said, reaching for his body scrub.

"No! I want to bathe myself!" he blurted, moving his body away.

"David, come closer."

"No!" He snapped.

I let out a tired sigh.

"I am exhausted, David. I haven't had any sleep since I left the hospital. So could you please bring yourself close so I can bathe you and tug you in?"

He shook his head.

"No."

"David...."

"I don't want you to bathe me. I want Mom!"

"Mom is...."

"Mom!" he yelled.

"Mom is busy, David. Stop yelling already."

"You shouldn't be in my bathroom watching me." He said with a low tone but dramatically.

"You are a girl," he added.

I raised my brows.

"Ms Monica said it is inappropriate to look at others' naked bodies."

I nodded but furrowed my brows at the name.

"Ms Monica is your teacher?" I asked.

"Yes, she is."

"I thought it was Ms Janet."

"Ms Janet had a baby. "

"Oh.... "

"So Ms Monica is our substitute teacher. "

I nodded. "Right."

"I like her. She is nicer than Ms Janet. She brings chocolates for us every day. "

"Hmm, chocolates?" I hummed.

"Yes, very delicious chocolates. Better than the ones you used to get for me. "

"Really?" I asked, reaching for him.

"Yes. "

"Tell me more about Ms Monica and the chocolates she gives you guys," I asked, turning him around slowly.

"There are two kinds of chocolates."

"Hmm, " I scrubbed his back gently as he went on.

"Dark and white. I like the white ones."

"Me too," I said, moving the scrub on his short dark hair.

"They are very delicious and I think they are pretty expensive. No wonder you don't buy them for me." he mocked.

I huffed. "I can buy them for you, silly. Stop mocking your sister."

"I want a big box of white chocolates then."

I rolled my eyes as I continued bathing him.

"I want them tomorrow."

"Fine. I will get them for you." I said, making him turn around instantly.

"Really?" he asked, exposing his cute tiny set of teeth.

I nodded, taking his hand and began scrubbing.

"Yes!"

"But you can't eat them alone," I said as I focused on his hand. "You will take it to school and share it with your classmates."

He withdrew his hand from my hold instantly, catching me off guard.

"What the...."

"I am not sharing!"

I sucked my teeth and reached for his hand.

"No!" he snapped, moving his body again.

"David!"

"Say I won't share!"

"Sharing is a very good thing."

"I don't want to share!" he yelled, folding his arms and making an angry face.

I heaved a sigh.

I raised my hands slightly in surrender.

"Yes, sir. You can eat an entire box of white chocolates all by yourself, almighty King David." I gave him a slight dramatic bow.

"Thank you," he said proudly, extending his hand to me.

I shook my head as I took his hand and picked up from where I stopped scrubbing.

He hummed the SpongeBob song while playing with the foamy water with his other hand as I scrubbed him.

"You know David in the holy book was a kind-hearted and generous man. You should be like him." I said.

He looked at me.

I raised my brows.

"And I believe he shared his chocolates with his classmates and friends during his day."

"I don't want to share mine."

I heaved a sigh. "Okay then. Suit yourself. You can have a whole box of chocolate all to yourself. While I will be waiting to use a sharp syringe on you when you fall sick."

His face twitched.

I nodded. "I will inject it through your butt like I did the last time you were sick."

He gasped.

I smiled.

"Mom!" he yelled, catching me off guard.

"Shh, David."

"Mom!!!!!!!!!"

Oh boy.

"David!" I heard Mom's voice from a distance.

She is literally busy in the kitchen, baking a client's birthday cake.

"Jessica wants to inject me again!" David cried.

"What the....did you see me with a syringe?" I whispered.

"What?!" Mom's voice came again.

"Jessica wants to inject me! She is an evil nurse!"

I lowered my shoulders in disbelief.

"Really, David?" I asked.

"Mom!"

"What's going on up there?!" Mom's voice again.

"Nothing, mom. You know how he is!" I said aloud.

"Evil nurse," David said.

I dimmed my eyes at him.

He stuck out his tongue.

"Evil nurse's tiny brother." I backfired.

He poked out his tongue again.

I smiled.

THIRTY FRUSTRATING MINUTES LATER........

"And Prince Arthur married the love of his life, Gwen and they lived happily ever after in their kingdom, Camelot. The end." I lowered the thick book.

And I saw a sleeping David with his mouth open.

I let out a tiny scoff.

He let out a snore.

I shook my head, smiling and leaning close to him.

I covered him properly with his SpongeBob SquarePants-designed duvet.

I leaned back on my seat, staring at him he let out more snores.

He might be a handful. I mean a very stubborn handful but he is my only sibling.

And I love him.

I love everything about him. The way he gives me a hard time and makes my life a living hell.

I smiled at my thoughts.

I love it.

But I am definitely getting him the box of chocolate before he murders me.

He doesn't joke with promises made to him.

Thanks to him, I was able to forget all the harsh things that were said to me earlier today by you know who.

My heart tightened again.

That night filled my head slowly.

His possessive hands around me and the.....

The kiss.

Not one.

Twice.

Could it be he doesn't remember? I mean he was kinda drunk back then.

I rested my gaze on the book, rubbing my thumb on it as that moment replayed in my head.

I guess he didn't remember.

Cause the way he sounded wasn't pretentious.

He really doesn't remember.

But why was he so mean to me?

Why?

What did I do to him?

His energy towards is always harsh. I don't understand why.

He......he even called me filthy.

I let out a breath, looking away as a tear rolled down my face.

I felt the urge to cry out.

I covered my mouth with my palm as more tears flowed.

I can't stop thinking about the disgusted look in his green eyes when he was saying those things to me.

I suppressed my emotions, wiping my tears and sniffling.

I should stop thinking about this.

I need to go to sleep.

I have an early morning shift tomorrow.

Standing on my feet, I picked up the chair and moved to the desk where I had taken it from.

I moved towards David, leaned down, and placed a kiss on his temples.

"Good night, little brother."

He turned to the side.

I smiled slightly.

I headed towards the door. I grabbed the doorknob and turned off the lights before walking out the door.

I closed the door quietly and was about to walk to my room when....

"Honey," Mom's voice took my attention.

She is approaching from the stairs, still dressed in her clothes from earlier and an apron filled with icing sugar.

"Mom."

"Hey, sweetie, is your brother asleep?"  she asked as she stood in front of me.

I nodded. "Mm hmm."

"Okay. I want to get something from my room. Are you okay?" she asked, cupping my left cheek.

"Huh?"

"Your eyes, look like you have been crying."

Oh boy.

"What is wrong, sweetie?"

Another thing my mom is great at is reading facial expressions.

"No, nothing is wrong, Mom. I am just tired. David gave me a hard time as always."

She huffed. "We all know your brother."

I smiled.

"I need to hurry. I am almost done with the cake. You should see it. It is beautiful."

"I trust your hands." I complimented.

She chuckled. "Alright, go to sleep, baby. You will see the cake tomorrow."

I nodded.

She kissed my temples and hurried past me.

"Good night, princess." she sang as she walked ahead.

"Good night," I said a bit aloud.

The house was slightly silent.

I heaved a sigh as Uncle Xavier filled my head again.

"You are such a filthy tiny and I see now why your father hates you so much."

My heart tightened.

I shook my head, suppressing another incoming tear.

I headed towards my room. I got to the door and grabbed the knob.

I walked into my room, closed the door, and rested my back against it.

I stared at nowhere in particular, resting my head on the door as well.

I closed my eyes.

His lips touching mine still feels like it just happened.

I can still feel them.

Kissing me possessively.

He wrapped his hands around my waist.

His ungodly grip on my butt.

I licked my lips as his hold grew priceless.

I want him to hold me again.

I was him to......

I opened my eyes instantly as guilt filled me.

God, Jessica, what are you thinking? What are these thoughts?

You are adding to your sins!

What is wrong with me?

Gosh!

SATURDAY MORNING......

I descended the stairs leading to our entrance door with a glass jug of orange juice.

I headed towards the long buffet table that is set and decorated at the spot under the tree where the party will be happening.

And mom is crouched down in front of the table, still adding more ribbons and balloons.

Yep.

It is finally my congratulatory party day.

Yay.

Ish.

I do love home parties. Especially the ones planned by my mom. She fills it with a lot of cakes.

Different kinds.

And other pastries as well.

I love it so much.

But today......today feels different.

Not exciting like I used to feel.

Maybe because I am not sure of the guests who would come. I barely invited any friends.

Just Michael.

I am not entirely sure if he would make it. I mean he is a doctor.

He might be busy with his shift.

I guess just Uncle Brad and Alex.

"Oh, the orange juice," Mom said the minute I got closer and she noticed me.

She got on her feet and took the jug from me.

I placed my hands on my knees as she moved the juice close to the other drinks.

We have cocktails.

Non alcoholic though.

Yoghurt, soda, and wine.

And there is the orange juice.

God, why do I feel unhappy today?

"Okay," Mom said, turning to me. "The drinks are complete. Let's go get the cakes," she said, smiling.

I smiled as well, not wanting to make her suspect my negative feelings.

She is a very good detective.

"Come on, sweetie," she said, walking past me.

I followed her behind, moving the strands of my hair behind my ear.

Getting closer to the stairs, the door opened and Dad walked out with David.

They are both dressed up already.

Wow. They are ready for my party even before me.

This is a good boost for my day.

"Leo," Mom called as they descended the stairs.

"Good morning, Dad." I greeted with a smile.

His eyes moved to me but he averted them and moved them to Mom.

I lowered my gaze, fiddling with my fingers.

"Carmen," he called. "We are...."

"Aren't you going to answer your daughter's greeting?" Mom retorted.

Dad scoffed. "We are heading out."

My heart tightened as I looked at him.

"What?"
