Chapter One Hundred and Sixty Two

Maxwell stormed off from the office feeling cold. He couldn’t believe that Turner would dare call Fiona his friend and he did this to her, he fumed.

And when he saw him on the pew with Thompson, he glared at him a bit before schooling his features then he walked up to him and whispered.

We need to talk, he said with a no-nonsense voice making Turner frown. Okay, after this show he answered him.

Thompson watched from the sideline noticing the friction between them but he kept quiet.

They sat as usual and watched the competition unfold.

After being given a hand and some of the kids, Matt had trained and proceeded to the final. The competition was declared close.

Turner and Maxwell drove to Turner’s outhouse near the school to have their discussion away from prying eyes after the day’s program.

But immediately they got inside, Maxwell connected his hand with Turner’s jaw, how dare you call her your friend and still do this to her, he roared.

Turner, who was still trying to figure out what just happened, saw that his hand was coming for another attack and blocked it by an inch.

He was about to retaliate but stopped at his next sentence.

You released Trisha to help you with your game. What are you playing at? Trying to use her sister’s nemesis against me.

Wait what? Turner stopped and Maxwell’s fist was able to hit him again. Please refrain from doing that one more time, he growled at him angrily.

Maxwell huffed and dragged his hands through his hair.

Are you going to pretend you don’t know Gifted Hand is Trisha Black? Maxwell said to him.

See, I know you want to get back at me, I don’t mind that but do not use her like a pawn in your stupid revenge or I don’t mind committing a crime again.

As you know clearly I am a criminal right, so don’t push me to the brim. Fiona Williams is off-limits.

Maxwell turned to leave but was stopped by Fiona who had tears in her eyes. How did she get here, he thought.

Fi… he was saying but she held up her hand.

Is it true, she asked Turner directly, ignoring Maxwell.

You lied to me, used me like some piece of trash and now you are trying to get me using my sister?

Was any of the friendship we shared true or was it just some ruse to gain my trust? She demanded.

Fiona… Turner called her name softly, he hadn’t anticipated her coming here to meet them like that. How did she know where they were? He looked up to Maxwell who looked as shocked as he was.

Fiona, he called her again but she just shook her head.

Answer my question, Turner, she said calmly.

I am sorry, he muttered to see her face crack. I must be such a fool to put my faith in two people who see me as nothing but an amusement to them.

First, he used my feelings for him and now you are using our friendship, am I that gullible to you two? She asked them but all they did was look down.

It's okay, she said, cleaning the tears that streamed down her face. I am so sorry for meddling in your revenge Mr Turner she spoke bitterly putting a distance between them.

And to you too Mr Harold, then she rushed out of there with tears glistening in her eyes.

You had to open your big mouth, Turner growled at Maxwell in annoyance.

Really! I wouldn’t have if you haven’t fucking played dirty in the first place, Maxwell growled back.

I never played dirty, he snapped.

Then to answer this, Maxwell showed him the footage he just got and when Turner saw it, his face was shrouded in mist.

That wasn’t me, the mask looked like mine but that wasn’t me.

I am many things but I would never hurt her like this, I was in love with her before I married my wife and a part of me still feels the tingle.

And I wouldn’t lie, it irks me a bit whenever you were together doing lovey-dovey, but I am a married man and regardless of how I felt I am loyal too.

And I would never mix my grievance with you like this. That woman almost killed her sister and I helped put her there, why would I bring her back up?

Then who could it be if not you? Maxwell asked him.

Someone who wishes death Turner muttered.

I will leave that to your capable hands then, after all, you are well aware of your surroundings, he tutted then left him to find Fiona.

Fiona ran out of the house and ran into Ahn who seemed to be passing by at that moment.

“Fiona!” He exclaimed, surprised at the situation he found her in.

Throwing herself at him Fiona cried for the grievance she suffered. The two men she finds extremely important in her life are the ones turning it upside down.

Never associate yourself with the rich she thought but another rich is the one holding on to her like this.

Fiona didn’t know how long she stood in his embrace before she pried herself away from him.

I am sorry, I cried on you that way, she said to him to see him nod.

It’s okay, he assured her, what are you doing here? He asked her. This place is too quiet for a lady.

Oh, nothing, I needed to just cool off a bit, she said with a smile that didn’t reach her eyes.

You don’t know how to tell lies, Ahn said to her. That is Turner’s out house, he said to her and you just ran from there.

How do you know, it was Turner’s she asked him but Ahn just stared down at her.

The house at the back is mine, he said.

Okay, she said. Were you coming from home just now? She asked.
