Chapter Fifty Eight

Chapter Fifty Eight
Nathan watched Ruby comb her hair in front of the mirror. He kept on looking at the time on his watch. "Sis. The party is going to start any minute now and you're still combing your hair woman?!" He and his sister didn't actually show their closeness to people but they were. Losing their parents at a very young age did that to twins. They learnt how to believe in each other. To rely on each other. They loved each other other dearly. Even though they wouldn't be saying that any time soon. It was like they already knew anyway.

"I want to look beautiful dear brother." Ruby said with her sweet angelic voice.

Nathan leaned to the wall. "And why are you getting yourself beautiful? You know you're gonna get drunk and pass out anyway. Like always"

Ruby turned her swinging chair to look at her brother. Her legs crossed in a proper lady like manner. "Dear brother today is different. Today I feel like my luck is about to change. Today I feel like all my wishes are gonna come true" she smiled a crazy smile with her eyes closed. Which made Nathan fake a yawn.

"Dear sister you are lying to yourself. If you think that Lindani will actually come here for once. He's always with Xolo. And if they actually come here together of course he won't have the time of day for you. Why don't you just give up? It's getting really boring to always tell you that." He turned to the door when he heard the front door open. "Hurry up I think he's here" when he was about to go out of the door Ruby held his hand. She hugged him. "You could stop you know" Nathan smiled waving off his sister's words. "I can't remember? This is for us. I'm fine. I'm always just fine twin sister. Don't worry about me."

Ruby tightened the hug. "But I do worry about you. Dear brother you're the only one I have. I don't want to lose you. We could think of a better way to make money. I can go to work. We're almost twenty three and college this year. Everything will work out" she was trying to convince the unconvinced. "Please Nathan" this wasn't the first time that she had asked this. It was actually one of many times.

None actually worked. But she seemed to always beg.

Nathan kissed her hands. "It will be over soon. Just make sure to make the music loud enough. And drink for the both of us. I'm gonna join the party too in just a little while." He started to leave but Ruby held his hand yet again. "Please" Nathan let his sister's hand drop. With a deep breath he started to walk away.

Ruby held in her tears. She went back to the mirror. Again putting more make-up on her face. And then combing her hair. She tried to become positive again. "Happy thoughts" she said to herself.

"Chommie!" Bedia yelled into the room. "Chommie what's with the creepy guy with my future husband?"

Ruby pulled a smile up her face. " Leave my brother and his weird friends! Tell me how many people have already arrived?"

Bedia counted both her hands. "About double my hands plus my toes and then times my ears"

"That many? But it's only seven pm. What's the rush?"

Bedia massaged her best friend's shoulders. "My friend kalok you and your brother have the coolest parties! I mean nobody throws a party on a Tuesday like you guys. Simply devine."

There was a loud bang of a door. This was a signal Ruby knew so well.

Ruby smiled. Looking at Bedia. "Let's go party!"

Nathan got out from his room after two hours to the party. He had red eyes and an exhausted facial expression. He looked for his sister in the crowd of people in their house but the purple haired girl wasn't anywhere to be found. He guessed it was better this way. She wouldn't see him like this.

He went to sit down one of the barstools in his kitchen. He took a swing of beer. His head was spinning in all sorts of directions. He couldn't seem to get his shit right.

He licked his lips about to go into the party scene to make an appearance but instead he felt a cold hand touch his bare arm. He was only wearing a white vest. He held his breath. "What do you want from me now I already gave you what you came here for. I can't–" he stopped talking when he saw Xolo was the one touching his arm. And he looked pretty wasted. "Oh. What are you doing here dude?"

Xolo blinked. Trying to stand up straight but failing because he was way too drunk to even know his name right now. "You know I just realized something I don't have a friend" Nathan was surprised by this. Xolo never spoke to him. Not to talk of coming to his party. He tried to look around for Lindani. He just knew that Lindani had to be here. Shadowing this drunk one. Xolo drunkly laughed. "Can you be my friend? I think we were friends once. Before. A long time ago. And then things changed. What changed Nat?"

Nathan scoffed. "We were friends in kindergarten. Nothing happened. We just grew up. You found a much more better friend than me. You got Lindani remember?" He hit his lip before saying the next part. "Besides I was never a good friend anyway right?"

Xolo shrugged his arms. "I don't know. At that time I only used to follow one person around. I never got to know anybody else but him."
