Barbed Wire
\[ALICE’s Point of View\]
My eyes locked into his amber, and I couldn’t move. My heart was so fast I thought it was going to explode. My brain told me to push him away, but the bond told me to claim those supple lips and be completely his. Yet I froze, confused about my feelings. I was scared and excited at the same time, and being alone with Bellamy was dangerous.
Very dangerous.
With a heavy breath, I murmured weakly, “L-Let’s go back.”
He gave me a cold look through his nose. I saw hesitation in those darkened eyes for a split second until he averted his eyes on me and growled. “Good. You’re finally listening.”
I wanted to scowl at him when he let go of my arms but I couldn’t. I was afraid this time he would not think twice about kissing me again and if he did, I was worried my heart would admit defeat and make a mistake of saying my feelings out loud to him.
I had a feeling he already knew, yet he chose to ignore it.
Saying how much he was important to me only made me feel like I was the desperate one.
On our way to the resort, Bellamy and I didn’t say a word. The tension was too thick; it was driving me crazy. During twenty minutes of walking, I saw from the corner of my eyes how many times he sighed and swallowed hard. As if being with me was the most difficult thing for him to do. And I wish I could feel what he felt at that moment but he was blocking me from reading what was on his head and it was so unfair I wanted to pick a stone and throw it on his head instead.
So that he knew how annoyed I was.
“Stay here while your fiance hasn’t come back.” He commanded like I was some kind of servant to him. That cold stare and poker face expression on his face only made me question my choices in life. “Don’t come out of your room unless there’s something strange that happened. I’ll stay here until the situation is under control.”
“I will forever hate you, Bellamy McKenzie. You don’t know how much I’m disappointed that you all think I can’t handle myself.”
He scoffed and placed his hand on his hips, tilting his head tauntingly. “The last time you fought with the thugs outside that bar you used to work at, you almost died, Alice Drakon.”
I grimaced, “That’s three versus one.”
He snickered, “That’s what I am saying. What if it’s an ambush? You’ll only distract Zen if you go with them.”
That’s it! I couldn’t take it anymore!
My anger had finally reached its peak. “Why are you so rude to me?! Why do you hate me, Bellamy?! What did I do to you?!”
He sighed and shook his head and looked away from me with his eyes on the ceiling. “Stop it, Alice. We already talked about it…”
Baring my teeth and glaring at him, I closed the gap between us and pushed him against the door. I was baffled by my own strength when the wooden door rattled against Bellamy’s back but I didn’t notice his arm wrapped around my waist and before I knew it, I was the one that was cornered between his arms.
“Don’t test me, Alice…” he breathed. He was so close; his scent was all over me and all I could see was his lips getting so near to me. I felt his hand gently enveloping my throat, slipping up my jaw and lifting my face so he could stare deeply into my blue azure eyes.
Blue and amber. Water and fire.
“What would you do?” I murmured, challenging him. I knew it was a bad idea but my eyes fluttered when he leaned closer and I felt his lips brushing beneath my ears, making me gasp. Desire sang in my veins as I breathed fast and shallow, my heart like thunder inside my heaving chest.
“Something you wouldn’t like,” he whispered back, his breath so hot on my skin.
“What if I do?” I raised an eyebrow at him; my voice was sultry. Intoxicated by his sexy glare.
“Goddess, Alice.” He snarled with both anger and lust.
I didn’t know what happened to me. I didn’t know I let him kiss me. But the feeling was so overwhelming it felt like a tidal wave consuming me whole. His hands were rough and his fingers dug on my skin but I liked it. I liked it so much I wanted more.
Danger. My mind warned me. My heart never listened.
With his warm lips still brushing possessively against my lips, Bellamy carried me on the bed impatiently. He threw me and I bounced on the soft bed, making me gasp for air. He didn’t give me any chance to get away and pinned me against it—his hands on my wrists and his lips pressed against mine so passionately. I couldn't think straight. My heart. My mind. My body. All screaming, I was his.
I moaned when I felt his warm fingers slip under my shirt, making me squirm as I felt that tickling feeling between my legs. I was wet. So wet for him. So ready for him to claim me. To mark me as his mate.
Please make me yours, Bellamy… make me your mate…
As if awakened from a dream, Bellamy’s eyes blinked so fast. Eyes wide with surprise. I frowned, confused about what was happening to him and I thought my heart dropped from my chest when he moved and stood away from the bed. His hand was dragging down his face.
I was hurt and I couldn’t understand what was happening to him. Why? Why did he stop? I wanted him. I wanted him so bad I was willing to—
“I’m sorry, Alice.”
He couldn’t look at me. I wanted him to look at me. But to my disappointment, he murmured, “Fuck!” and then left the room, slamming the door close.
I was left baffled by what happened. I felt it. I felt how badly he wanted me. I felt his heart yearning for me and I shone bright when the bond was about to snap in place—ready for him to mark me as his mate.
But his fear severed all of it. Severed himself from me. The bond was there but it felt like barbed wires around me. Around us.
Tears rolled down my face as I embraced myself.
“D*mn you, Bellamy!” I screamed in anger and threw a pillow at the door.
