Chapter 56 Late
“I know, and it kills me that I hurt you. If I could do it all over again, I would do it differently. I swear, from this point on I will never shut you out again. That we are a team no matter what, if you’ll still have me?” Jared apologized.
“You really hurt me, Jared.” MJ said.
“I know, and I am sorrier than you’ll ever know.” Jared said.
“Baby, please forgive me.” Jared begged.
“You promise we will take care of any problems together as a team?” MJ asked.
“Yes, as a team forever.” Jared responded.
“It feels so good to be back in your arms. I was so lost without you.” MJ said.
“And I was even more lost without you.” Jared said.
“Will you come with me tomorrow for my meeting with the coach?” Jared asked.
“Yes.” MJ replied.
Today is the day they meet with the coach to find out the results of the more advanced drug screen. These results will either prove he was innocent or end his college career.
“Are you nervous?” MJ asked.
“Honestly I don’t know what I am.” Jared said.
“Well, we know the local one was falsified. And from what I’ve heard this lab in California is top notch. It’s got to prove you’re innocent.” MJ said.
“Yes, but it was the local lab that took my hair sample. I’m just worried he messed with it too.” Jared replied.
“Getting someone’s urine is probably easy for those in the lab. But I would think getting hair is more rare and harder to come by.” MJ said.
“I hope so.” Jared responded.
“Look, if this comes back positive, we will go to the police and lab and make them investigate. And make them repeat both tests. Whatever we need to do, we’ll do it together.” MJ explained.
“Have I told you how much I love you today?” Jared asked.
“I think so, but it can never be said enough.” MJ said.
“I love you more than words can say.” Jared said.
“And I love you too.” MJ repeated.
They get ready and leave for the coach’s office. Due to MJ’s kidnapping she decided to take another day off from college.
“Baby I know you’re nervous, but I am here by your side no matter what!” MJ said.
“I know, and in case I forget later, thank you. Thank you for being there for me.” Jared said.
“Jared kisses MJ and then hand in hand they walk to the coach's office.
“Jared please come in and have a seat.” The coach said.
Jared tenses up. He can’t tell if it’s good or bad with how the coach is acting.
“So, I hear you two have been in quite a situation?” The coach asked.
“Yes sir.” Jared replied.
“The university has done its investigating and talked to both the police and the lab. We know all about what Mr. Well’s did.” Coach said.
“And you’ve got the results back from the California lab?” Jared asked.
“We have. And I’m happy to say those results were negative. I need your written permission to submit these results to the police and local lab for their investigation of Mr. Wells falsification.” Coach explained.
“Yes sir! Anything they need. He needs to be behind bars. And anything I can do to make that stay longer I will.” Jared said.
“Glad to hear that. The false positive drug screen we got has been disposed of and will not be listed in your records. As far as the university is concerned, it never happened. Nor did your suspension from the team. You suit up tomorrow.” Coach said.
“Thank you, coach!” Jared said.
“Son, I can't tell you how sorry I am that you went through this. But we have to follow procedures.” Coach apologized.
“I understand sir. Not your fault and who knew what was really going on.” Jared responded.
Jared and the coach shake hands. Him and MJ leave the office. Jared picks MJ up in his arms and holds her tight, spinning her around. Then he stops and kisses her.
“Everything is right now.” MJ said.
“I love you so much!” Jared smiled.
“And I love you!” MJ smiled back.
“Let’s celebrate tonight. Dinner out?” Jared asked.
“How about we order in and watch a movie in our bedroom?” MJ asked.
“Okay, sounds better than my plan!” Jared said.
They go home and wait for Madi and Marty to get home to tell them the good news.
“So does this mean all this crap is finally over?” Madi asked.
“God, I hope so!” MJ replied.
“Congrats man! I knew it was false, but you ever hurt my sister again and we’re going to have a major problem!” Marty said.
“Never again, I promise!” Jared said.
“Well, we’ve got some celebrating to do. See you guys tomorrow.” MJ said.
“Yuck sis! Really!? I don’t want to hear that. And I better not hear it either!” Marty said.
“Ditto.” MJ said.
“Shit!” Marty yelled.
“Got you there babe!” Madi laughed.
“Whatever!” Marty said.
MJ and Jared go to their room. Their clothes are thrown all over the floor the minute the door locks.
“God baby, I’ve missed you so much!” Jared said.
“I’ve ached for you!” MJ said.
They make it to the bed and make love. Afterwards they lay side by side catching their breaths.
“I can never get enough of you. Minutes after you thoroughly exhaust me my body starts wanting you again.” Jared explained.
“I feel the same.” MJ agreed.
A week passes thankfully things are back to normal. MJ and Madi just got home and the boys are at practice.
“Madi, can I talk to you?” MJ asked.
“Of course.” Madi said.
“I’m late.” MJ said.
“Late for what?” Madi asked.
“Late, late.” MJ said.
“Late? … Oh, late, late.” Madi said.
“This can’t be happening!” MJ shouted.
“Let’s calm down. First, have you taken a test?” Madi asked.
“No.” MJ said.
“Let’s go get one or five.” Madi said.
“Okay.” MJ said.
“You need to tell Jared.” Madi said.
“I will. Should I take it then tell him? Or wait and take it with him?” MJ asked.
“What do you think he’d want?” Madi asked.
“No secrets.” MJ said.
“There’s your answer.” Madi said.
They go to the pharmacy and buy a few tests. Madi bought a few extra.
“I don’t think we need 6 tests!” MJ said.
“Ah for the future, save us a trip.” Madi said.
“Okay.” MJ said.
They go back home. It’s Friday night, they are waiting for the boys to get home.
“Jared, we need to talk.” MJ said.
“Ah okay, what’s up?” Jared asked.
“Privately?” MJ said.
“Ok.” He agreed.
