Chapter 55 The Aftermath
The investigator was first to arrive at Greg’s house. He put handcuffs on him and waited for the police to arrive. He had already found Greg’s address and was almost to his house when Talia called to tell him where she was. 

A while later, her family walked into the police station. Addie, Cage, Marty, Madi, and Jared walked into the room MJ was being kept in. MJ looked at each one and then threw herself in her mom’s arms and cried. 

Jared was upset she didn’t come to him for comfort. He wondered how bad he screwed things up between them. He was determined to make it right. Cage glared at Jared. Marty had filled him in on everything.

“Ma’am we need you to be fully checked by the hospital. One of our officers will escort you and collect any evidence medical wise. We’ll need your clothes also. The hospital will give you some scrubs to put on.” Detective said. 

“Actually, I brought her some clothes.” Madi said. 

Cage sent all the brothers that had rode with them home except for a couple that would be his and Addie's escorts home. Hours later MJ was allowed to go to the hospital. Her full statement was given and Greg was in jail. 

“Here’s a gown for you to put on. Put your clothes in this bag. Then get on the table. The doctor will be in a few minutes to examine you.” The nurse explained. 

“Okay, Madi, will you stay with me?” MJ asked. 

“Absolutely.” Madi said. 

The nurse showed everyone else to a waiting room. Then she let the doctor know MJ was ready for her exam, and went back to MJ's room while the doctor examined her.

“Did he force you to have sex?” Doctor asked. 

“Not while I was awake. But I was unconscious for a while.” MJ said. 

“When’s the last time you had sex?” Doctor asked. 

“About 11 days ago.” MJ said. 

“Okay that’s good. Cause if we don’t find condom residue or semen present then it’s good indication that he didn’t rape you while you were unconscious.” Doctor explained. 

The exam was uncomfortable and embarrassing to say the least. She felt so violated. They also did bloodwork to check for what he drugged her with. 

“Well good news is I see no signs of penetration, or anything else. I’m 99.9% sure he didn’t rape you. I’ll send my findings in a report to the Detective. You can get dressed and a nurse will be in with your paperwork. I’m going to prescribe you some sedatives for sleep. Check with your regular doctor in a week.” Doctor replied. 

Cage, Addie, MJ, Marty, Madi, and Jared went to the apartment. They all sat down in the living room. Cage glared at Jared. Addie warned him and calmed him down.

“You know our lifestyle, what would make you think we’d have an issue with any of you living together?” Cage demanded.

MJ and Madi looked at the floor, not answering. Jared and Marty stared straight at Cage not backing down. 

“We’re more upset over you not being honest with us than you living together.” Addie explained.

“I was afraid you wouldn’t approve. I didn’t want you to be disappointed in me.” MJ responded.

“You’re paying the rent, I thought you’d say no.” Marty replied.

“I meant no disrespect. I know MJ told Marty but I didn’t know she hadn’t told ya’ll yet. At first, we wanted to wait to make sure it worked out ok. And then all that stalker stuff happened.” Jared tried to explain.

“No more secrets. And if something happens to my kids, I’m to be told immediately! Yes, you’re over 18, but you know the troubles that go along with the club. Just because you’re not in it, doesn’t mean you’re free and clear. You’re family, always will be. There will always be a target on you to get to us, and for that I am sorry. BUT the club takes care of its own, even if you’re not in the club.” Cage explained.

They all agreed and Marty and Madi went to their room after hugging MJ, Cage, and Addie.

After Jared filled Cage and Addie in on everything, they left and headed for a hotel for the rest of the night. 

“I know we need to talk.” Jared said. 

“Can it wait till after I’ve slept? I’m exhausted and don’t want to think right now. It’s after 2 am.” MJ said. 

“Yes, whatever you need.” Jared said. 

“I think you should sleep on the couch.” MJ said. 

“Okay.” Jared's heart feels like it’s in a vice.

They went to bed. MJ in their bed and Jared on the couch.

MJ wakes up in a cold sweat. “Who’s there?” MJ whispered. 

“Did you think you'd get away that easily?” Greg asked climbing on top of her. 

“No, get off me!” MJ screamed 

MJ kicked and screamed and tried punching with everything she’s got. 

“No!!” MJ screamed. 

MJ sat up in the bed and Jared burst into the room. 

“Where is he? Where’d he go?” MJ asked. 

“Who?” Jared asked. 

“Greg, he was here!” MJ said. 

“Baby, I think it was a nightmare.” Jared answered, 

“Can you call the Detective and check?” MJ asked. 

Jared called and confirmed Greg was still locked up. MJ was shaking. 

“Will you hold me so I can sleep? And lock the door?” MJ said. 

“Yes baby.” Jared said. 

Jared locked the bedroom door and crawled in bed with MJ. He wrapped her tight in his arms and she felt safe. 

“I’ll make you this promise now. As long as you will have me, I will never leave your side again. I will protect you with my life. You are my world; I love you MJ.” Jared said. 

“We’ll talk after I’ve rested.” MJ said. 

MJ drifted off to sleep feeling safe in Jared’s arms. Jared was too busy thinking about how to fix the hurt he caused her. The drug screen was on his mind also. After a while he finally fell asleep too. Everything that had happened had finally caught up to him, and had totally exhausted him mind and body.

The next morning MJ awakes safe in Jared's arms. She hopes that he came back because he decided to and not because she was kidnapped. She turns to watch him sleep for a little while until he wakes up. 

"Good morning." Jared smiled.

"Good morning." MJ replied. 

"How are you feeling?" He asked. 

"Better than I was. But not quite normal." She answered. 

"It will take time." He assured her.

"Have you heard from coach?" She asked. 

"Yes. I meet with him tomorrow." He explained. 

"I'm sure it will be good news. I know you've never done drugs. I didn't mean for you to think I doubted you. I was just totally shocked at the news." MJ explained. 

"I'm sorry I thought you doubted me. I'm sorry I left the way I did. I needed to clear my head yes, but I could have gone about it differently. I only hope you can forgive me for the way I acted." He pleaded.

"It wasn't the fact that you left. It was that you shut me out. You ignored me all week. You didn't allow me to help you through it. I thought we were a team. And that hurt more than anything." MJ replied.
