Chapter 48 Mean Girls
Chapter 48 Mean Girls
"I can't believe that red head is who he's seeing. I mean just look at her." She said with disgust.
"The brunette ain't much better. I mean look at us, we're rich and totally gorgeous. We'd be a total upgrade for two hotties like them." The other one said.
"And hanging with the lesbian! How pathetic. But like company and all." The first one scoffed.
Sam's face turned red. MJ's eyes got big. Madi is looking furious at them like she's going to rip them apart.
"I was going to tell you." Sam whispered.
"Who you are interested in is your business. You're my friend and that has nothing to do with our friendship." MJ replied.
“Exactly!” Madi agreed.
"Sam, we don't care who you like. That's your personal business." Jessi replied.
“Thanks guys.” Sam replied.
Addie and Paris had been calling the girls every day. Sometimes they'd video chat with them at the club so everyone could say hello. Jessi had been sad because Jake her boyfriend stayed at home to go to community college. His grades weren't good enough for a scholarship and his mom couldn't afford to send him to college. His dad passed away a few years ago.
Paris and Addie had the girls on video chat. They were at the club. It was a little loud, until Addie demanded everyone to shut up or go somewhere else. Her mom was not someone the guys wanted to make mad.
"We have a surprise for you Jessi!" Addie replied.
"Yeah, guess who's a new prospect for the club?" Paris asked.
"NO!" Jessi retorted.
"Yep, I got approved today!" Jake replied.
He walked up to the phone and showed his new prospect cut. He was grinning ear to ear. Joker came over and put his arm around his neck grinning also. Jessi was not pleased at all.
"Jake, we talked about this! You said it would be a decision we'd make together! I told you I didn't want you to because of the danger involved. But you just don't care, do you?" Jessi demanded.
"But babe, I'll be a part of the club." Jake replied.
Jessi ran to her room They could hear her cell phone ringing. And saw Jake had walked off. Jessi nor MJ had ever wanted to date a biker.
They loved their family, but it wasn't something either had wanted for themselves as far as having their own kids. They knew they'd always be a part of the club as they were born to it. But belonging, and actually being in it participating was different. They ended the call shortly after.
MJ looked over at Jared sitting on the couch. She was glad he hadn't had any interest in joining the club. Jared wanted to play pro football. And they had to keep their lives respectable and drug free.
Marty had finally decided after college he was going to prospect to the club. Madi was fine with it. She reminded her of her aunt Paris. She'd handle the life no problem.
There had been one too many scares for MJ growing up. She'd never turn her back on the club, they were family. She wanted a normal life that was club drama free.
After the phone call, the guys told the girls about the two girls asking them out. The girls didn't know it was the same two
they had run into. MJ got a note in her mailbox from a secret admirer.
"No one has hit on you at school?" Jared asked.
"No. No one has even talked to me except for Sam. I've not even had a single guy introduce himself to me." MJ explained.
"Well, we'll just ignore it for now." Jared replied.
"You do believe me?" MJ asked.
"Yes." Jared replied.
"Why do I feel like you don't? I swear I don't have any idea who would do this." MJ replied.
A tear slides down one of MJ's cheeks and she turned her back on Jared. He felt like an ass. He wrapped his arms around her and
held her.
"Please don't cry. I believe you." Jared soothed.
"I have never lied to you. If you can't trust me, how can this work?" MJ asked.
"I promise, I do trust you." Jared assured her.
A couple of weeks went by. Everything was back to normal. There hadn't been any other notes or events. Then one morning when MJ came out to her car, there was writing on her window. And a red rose was stuck under her windshield wiper. The writing was in red with hearts drawn. It said "I LOVE YOU".
“What the hell?” Jared asked.
“Do you think they are dangerous? Isn’t this a form of stalking?” MJ said.
“Sis, I think you should contact the police. Just to have it on record for the future.” Marty said.
MJ calls the police. Jared gave them the first letter. They took pictures of her car and the rose. There was nothing they could really do.
No threats were issued and they had little evidence. Another week goes by and MJ gets a brown envelope mailed to her. No return address.
“Let me open it.” Jared said.
Inside were pictures of MJ, at university, the mall, leaving their apartment. Jared was cut out of them. There was no note. Just the pictures. In one picture there was a huge red x marked over Jared’s face. They contacted the police again. They said they’d check into it.
“Jared, I'm scared.” MJ said.
“I will protect you. You don’t go anywhere by yourself, okay?” Jared said.
“Okay.” MJ said.
“Baby, I will not let anyone hurt you.” Jared responded.
MJ quit going anywhere but class and the apartment. Jared was worried but decided to let her do what she felt comfortable with.
Another note was left on her windshield. It read “Lot of Love and Kisses. To my sexy little redhead. From Your Loving secret admirer from afar for now.”
Marty had a security camera put up after this one. Two weeks went by before the next note came in the mail.
It read “I’ll get you; I got you; I know you; I want you; I see you while you sleep, I watch you while you walk. I know your every step; I hear you when you talk. I know you all too well. I know you far too much. I know all you have to tell; I know your smell. And soon I’ll know you even better.”
All the letters were given to the police. MJ started being withdrawn. Jared and Marty were getting very worried about her. She was jumpy at sounds.
She never left the apartment without Jared. She quit cheer. She even would stay home from classes when she could get by with it.
“Baby, I am really worried about you. This isn’t healthy.” Jared said.
“I know, but I’m terrified. How do I get over this? Why can’t he leave me alone?!” MJ asked.
Jared had no idea what to do.
“Okay enough is enough. I’m calling Aunt Talia and getting her to get her private detective to investigate. And MJ you’re going to have to snap out of this slump you’re in.” Marty said.
