Chapter 49 Joker Flashback

Chapter 49 Joker Flashback
“I’m too scared. What if he’s dangerous?” MJ asked.

“We don’t leave you alone. No more skipping class. No more hiding here all the time. This is unhealthy for you.” Marty replied.

“I’ll try. But what if he hurts one of you while you're trying to protect me?” MJ questioned.

"It will be ok. We all will be ok." Marty assured her.

Marty called their Aunt Talia. She was married to Joker who was technically Jessi's real uncle. Their uncle Zeke/Bishop was married to Paris who was Joker's sister. But since he was an MC brother, they all thought of him as an uncle.

Talia assured him she'd get her best investigator on it. Addie and Cage were furious she'd kept it from them. He contacted the police and viewed all the evidence. He also started following MJ.

And when another note was left on her car, he caught them in the act. The police called MJ to the station. Her, Jared, Marty, Jessi, and Madi went to see who it was. They were very shocked to see who it was.

Flashback to when Joker met Talia.

The old sheriff retired. Him and the club had an understanding. They'd keep the drugs and guns out of their town, and he'd overlook their less than legal ways tFlashback to when Joker met Talia.o do so. However, the new sheriff was a young buck trying to make a name for himself. They were constantly having raids at the club businesses and the clubhouse.

Paris had a roommate back in college who became a top-notch lawyer. One night Paris saved her from getting drug raped. She told Paris she was forever in her debt. They kept in touch through social media and texts, but she hadn't seen her friend in person in a few years.

She told Viper she could reach out to her and see if she could help. The club's lawyer should have retired ten years ago. The old guy was almost 78 years old. He didn't have any partners and never had kids to take over his business. Viper didn't trust any of the few other lawyers around.

Paris called Talia and explained what was going on. Talia was furious at the blatant use of the law. She told her she'd have to get her schedule cleared, and she'd come visit and see what she could do.

Talia pulled up to the club. It was about an hour before opening. She was meeting Paris and Addie there, and Viper would be by shortly. She walked in the door and Paris stood up from where she was sitting and called her name.

"Wow you are so not what I remembered." Paris laughed.

"I hope that's a compliment." Talia grinned.

"Oh, it is. The guys are gonna die!" Paris replied. "This is Addie. My best friend and sister-in-law."

"Nice to meet you." Talia replied.

"Yeah, same here. Paris is right, the guys are going to freak!" Addie replied.

Viper, Cage, Steel, Bishop, Joker, Diego, and a couple other brothers pulled into the parking lot of the club. They parked their bikes and got off. Totally shocked at the motorcycle parked there. No one recognized it. The only thing they could tell was it was a woman's bike.

It was a Harley, and it was black and dark purple with chrome. They hadn't seen anything like it. It was obviously a custom job and no doubt a very expensive one. A few of the guys whistled.

"I thought we were meeting Paris's lawyer friend?" Steel asked.

"That's what I was told." Viper replied.

They walked into the club. Half the guy’s jaws dropped when they saw the woman sitting at the table with Paris and Addie. Diego and Joker made a mad dash to get the seat beside her that was empty. Joker got there first. He flipped Diego off behind his back. The rest of the guys sat down.

Talia not only rode her motorcycle, but she was dressed in dark purple leather pants with a matching jacket which was slung over the back of her chair. She had on black biker boots, and a thin black tank type camisole top.

"Viper this is Talia Altizer. She's the attorney I told you about." Paris introduced. "Talia this is Viper the president of the club."

"I'm sorry we have to meet under these circumstances. But I'm not sorry it gave me a chance to catch back up with Paris." Talia explained.

"If we hadn't already looked up your mad attorney skills, I'd say Paris was joking about you being a top-notch lawyer." Viper replied.

"I work very hard. And I play very hard." Talia grinned. "My business and personal life are total opposites, and totally separate."

They talked for a bit. Viper filled her in on all the searches the sheriff had been doing. He explained that there wasn't anything for them to find, and they hadn't found anything to even issue them a ticket for or even arrest anyone for. The doors opened and customers started coming in.

About an hour after the doors opened, the sheriff walked in with three officers. Two were men, and one was a woman. The sheriff had a paper in his hand and was looking around.

"I got this." Talia said as she stood up.

She reached inside her jacket pocket and took out a business card. Then she leaned over and took the writing pad and pen from the waitress's hand. She tore off what the waitress had been writing and gave that sheet back to her. She strolled to the door with a grin on her face.

The guys watched her walk over. They saw the sheriff looking her up and down and grinning. Then she handed him her card and held out her hand for the paper. His smile dropped and he clenched his jaw. But he handed her the paper. She read over it and then had some words.

She held the pad up and started writing on it. They saw her looking at each officer and writing something down. No one had any idea what she was doing. The officers walked around where people were sitting and she watched their every move. The female cop stayed beside the sheriff.

Once they had walked around to all of the customers, the officers went back to the sheriff and a few more words were said but they couldn't hear any of it. Then they all left. Talia walked back over to the table. She tore off the paper she had written on and stuck it in her jacket pocket. Then she gave the pad and pen back to the waitress.

"Damn, that's the fastest I've ever seen them come and leave." Joker retorted.

"So, what was that about?" Viper asked.

"Well, I introduced myself. And I reminded them of several statues they're are breaking by harassing you. I pointed out all the previous searches. Then I got their badge numbers and names for the lawsuit I promised I'd file against the city for the harassment of local business owners." Talia explained.

"Wait, we can do that?" Steel asked.
