Chapter 55 Jealousy
Lydia widened her eyes, taking a moment to process Lambert’s words.
She blushed crimson, but by then, she was already melting under Lambert’s kiss. Her hands clung helplessly to Lambert’s arm, her eyes shimmering with desire.
Her slightly parted lips, flushed from the kiss, looked irresistibly tempting.
Lambert’s gaze fell, catching a glimpse of her delicate skin peeking out from her slightly open neckline,
and the softness of her breaths, quickening, almost teasingly elusive.
A surge of heat rushed through Lambert, his throat tight.
His gaze grew even deeper as he lowered his head, capturing Lydia’s lips in a possessive, dominant kiss.
The fiery sensation from the depths of her being left Lydia feeling utterly defenseless. Her hazy eyes
carried a hint of anticipation, like a fish waiting to be pulled from the grill, yearning for someone to extinguish the flames.
“Mama! Your favorite TV show is starting!”
The sudden sound from outside abruptly snapped the two out of their desire–filled reverie.
Lydia pushed Lambert away, her face burning, and stuttered, “I–I heard! Coming!”
With that, she hurriedly escaped, ignoring Lambert’s disappointed gaze, her steps hastening away.
As for Lambert, he cast a longing glance towards a certain direction, then sighed deeply as he headed for
the bathroom.
There was still a long road ahead, but for now, he would have to make do with some “solo activities.”
When Lambert emerged refreshed from the bathroom, he found Lydia and Wythe sitting on the couch
watching TV.
A concert by a male singer was playing on the television, and Lambert glanced at Lydia, who was
completely engrossed.
His face darkened a shade, unable to tolerate his woman openly admiring another man.
“You really like him?”
Lydia’s excitement was evident, “Yes, he’s my idol. I’ve liked him since his debut. His songs are so good!”
Lambert’s expression grew even darker. He couldn’t stand his woman openly favoring another man right
in front of him!
“More than you like me?”

Lydia’s smile faltered as she turned to look at Lambert, her ears turning slightly red. She lightly tapped his arm, “Don’t talk nonsense! It’s not comparable!”
Lambert’s eyes deepened, “I’m not as good as him?”
Wythe, munching on an apple, glanced between Lambert and Lydia, then exaggeratedly exclaimed,”
Mom, someone’s jealous!”
Lydia lightly tapped Wythe’s head, “You naughty boy, stop teasing us!”
Then she glared at Lambert, “Can’t you understand? He’s my idol, I admire him, buy his albums, support
his concerts, but I don’t want to build a family and live with him. Do you understand now?”
Lambert’s face softened slightly at her cheek, “I just can’t stand you looking at another man longer than
you look at me!”
Lydia blushed, “You possessive brute!”
Lambert didn’t respond, simply tightening his grip on Lydia’s waist, “But your beloved is me.”
“Pffft! Who loves you?” Lydia’s ears burned as she slipped out of Lambert’s embrace, suddenly too
preoccupied to watch the concert of her idol.
“It’s been a busy day. Let’s get some rest!”
With that, Lydia hurried into the bedroom, leaving Lambert and Wythe exchanging a glance before standing up from the couch together.
“Dad, tell me a bedtime story!”
Wythe demanded decisively.
Though he could read on his own now, it was said that a child’s childhood wasn’t complete without
bedtime stories.
Lambert hesitated, his expression slightly embarrassed, “Um, I’m not very good at that…”
“Huh? Is there something Dad doesn’t know?” Wythe’s expression briefly showed disappointment, “Well,
forget it then. You’ve never told me one since I was little.”
”
Those words hit Lambert’s heart, filling him with guilt. He stepped forward to lift Wythe into his arms,
Okay, maybe I’m not great at it, but I can try!”
Ten minutes later, Wythe was wide awake, his eyes fixed on Lambert’s mouth as he listened intently to his “story,”
Though Lambert only recounted various troubles he encountered in business and strategies for dealing with eccentric clients when he took over the company, it unexpectedly won Wythe’s favor.

He was thoroughly enjoying it!
Forgive this dad for not knowing what bedtime stories should entail.
After all, he had fallen asleep to various classic and modern literary works, and personal experiences could be considered a kind of “story,” right?
Twenty minutes later, when Lydia suddenly remembered that she had forgotten to put Wythe to bed while she was busy being shy, she pushed open the door only to find a scene that left her both amused and touched. 1
Lambert had pulled up a small chair and sat by the bedside, while Wythe lay on the pillow, listening avidly to Lambert’s “story” and occasionally interjecting a comment or two.
Lydia couldn’t help but shake her head in disbelief. Why did she feel like Lambert wasn’t telling bedtime stories but giving a business presentation? Well, as long as her son enjoyed it. But it was indeed getting
late!
So, Lydia stepped forward to interrupt Lambert and Wythe’s conversation, “Wythe, it’s past nine. It’s time to sleep. You have kindergarten tomorrow!”
Wythe reluctantly pouted, glancing at the small alarm clock on the bedside table, and reluctantly relented, “Okay, but Dad, your bedtime stories are fascinating! Can we continue tomorrow?”
“Of course!” Lambert bent down to kiss Wythe’s forehead, “Goodnight, sweetheart. We’ll continue
tomorrow!”
With that, Lydia took the lead and walked out of the room, followed closely by Lambert, who casually closed the door behind him. Seeing Lydia heading for their room, he extended his long arm and pulled
her into his embrace.
“Don’t I get a goodnight kiss?”
