“Yeah, anyway, just deal with it for now. I’m worried if you don’t go, he’ll pull some crap tomorrow,” McKayla reminded. “I’ll have my

call him.”
After she hung up the phone, Stephanie saw there was still some time, so she went on to talk with the designer about the stage costumes.
This time the outfit was a bit complicated, a lot of things were in place.
“You’ve worked hard.” They finally reached an agreement, and Stephanie said. “I’ll leave it to you this time.”
“Don’t worry.” The other person replied with a smile.
They already did it 4 times, and both sides were very satisfied with each other.
This was helping each other succeed.
They chatted a bit more, and Stephanie saw it was about time, so she changed her clothes and went to pick up Belinda from school.
Soon, Stephanie’s car pulled up to the kindergarten.
Belinda was waiting inside.
“Auntie Stephanie!” Belinda called out right away.
Stephanie gave her a big hug.
“Belinda, I wanted to ask you something.” Stephanie looked straight at

Belinda and said. “Maxwell invited us to a farewell dinner. Do you want to go?”
If Belinda didn’t want to, then she just said no.
“Auntie Stephanie, what did you mean?” Belinda didn’t say yes or no.
Stephanie looked into Belinda’s eyes and said. “I just wanted to see if you like it. If you don’t, we won’t go.”
“Did he say something to you?” Belinda suddenly asked in a sneaky
way.
It was the first time Stephanie saw that look on Belinda’s face, and she just burst out laughing.
“Yeah.” Stephanie nodded and mentioned Maxwell’s promise not to reach out to them anymore.
Only then did Belinda suddenly realize.
“Then I’ll go over,” Belinda said with a smile, “just think of it as hanging out with the neighbor’s kid for a night.”
“Belinda was so good.” Stephanie kissed Belinda on the forehead.
Belinda also kissed Stephanie on the cheek.
The two were getting close, and suddenly, a big shadow appeared nearby.
The two of them looked up together, and then they saw Maxwell standing next to them.
The smiles on the mother and daughter’s faces slowly faded.
Maxwell was a bit sad.
But he still greeted the little girl gently on the side, “Belinda.”
Belinda thought for a moment, then replied. “Uncle.”
Maxwell nodded slightly.
He stood up straight and looked at Stephanie: “Let’s go.”
Stephanie nodded too, holding Belinda’s hand and walking toward the
car.
“Take my car,” Maxwell said.
Stephanie just gave him a cold look.
She still clearly remembered the scene when Belinda got scared in Maxwell’s car last time.
“Maxwell, I would never let Belinda ride in your car again in my life.”
Maxwell paused for a moment, then nodded and didn’t say anything else.
Drove, hit the road.
Two cars stopped outside the biggest seaside restaurant in Haraville.
Stephanie held Belinda’s hand and got out of the car. then met Maxwell.

A few people walked into the restaurant together, and just then, a soft chime sounded.
It was already 5 p.m.
As soon as I walked into the restaurant, the waiter came right over.
“Mr. Humphrey, Mrs. Humphrey,
“The waiter smiled and was just
about to say Miss Humphrey,
“My name is Belinda.” Belinda already spoke up.
The waiter smiled and nodded, “Miss Belinda,”
“Please follow me, you three.” The waiter walked in front and led the way for them.
We walked through the first floor, passed by a bunch of shiny chandeliers, and got to the second floor.
The waiter opened the door: “Please.”
This was the private room with the best view on the second floor of the seaside restaurant.
Maxwell went ahead and pulled out chairs for Stephanie and Belinda.
But Stephanie didn’t look at him either, she just took Belinda’s backpack down to set it aside,
“Give it to me,” Maxwell said, reaching out to take the backpack and putting it on the shelf next to him.
Stephanie pressed her lips together and didn’t say anything in the end. just sat down next to Belinda.
Poured some warm water for Belinda again.
Maxwell looked at her serious and careful look, and felt strange.
It was
quiet in the private room, only the soft sound of the piano. Outside the big floor–to–ceiling window, the sea tide was moving, like someone’s feelings.
Maxwell watched Stephanie give Belinda some water and then wipe

Belinda’s little hands with a wet wipe. This was the scene he had dreamed of for so many years.
Watching Belinda wipe her hands clean, he handed the menu over.
“Let’s see what Belinda liked to eat,” he said.
Stephanie took it.
The mother and daughter talked it over, and he could only stay silent.
