Maxwell looked away and walked outside.
He thought for a while before he figured it out. Turns out, he came here to see Alfonso just to hear Alfonso say, “She loves you to the bone.”
It seemed like only after hearing this sentence, he could be sure that his heart was at peace.
Maxwell left here.
Later, he went to many other places.
Finally, stopped at the kindergarten gate.
He didn’t come down either, just watched the kids playing in the kindergarten from a distance.
Belinda was quiet, just drawing with her friends on the side.
Looking at it like this, Maxwell just felt really calm inside.

The other side.
Stephanie, wearing a mask, was discussing with the designer about the outfit for “The Ethereal Voice” finals.
At that moment, her phone started ringing.
“Sorry,” Stephanie said, taking out her phone.

It was Maxwell’s call.
Stephanie’s heart was suddenly gripped.
Today was the 30th day of the divorce cooling–off period. If we were. going to get the certificate, it should have been tomorrow. What was he calling for at this time?
Did he… change his mind?
If that was the case, then what would she… do?
Stephanie thought a lot in that moment, and she didn’t touch the answer button until the phone was almost done ringing.
Stephanie walked out of the house and came to the hallway outside.
“What is it?” Stephanie asked.
“Let’s have dinner together tonight.” Maxwell’s voice came. He said. “Bring Belinda too, I’ve booked the restaurant.”
Stephanie frowned a little. She wanted to say no, but then she thought, in the last bit of time, she shouldn’t make things more complicated.
Thinking of this, she said, “Why?”
“Steph.” he suddenly called her, “we’re getting the divorce papers tomorrow. In the next few months, we might not have chances to get together like this again.”
Stephanie looked up at that piece of modern art on the hallway wall.
What he meant was, a breakup dinner?
Stephanie was thinking about whether to go over or not.
Maxwell over there didn’t say anything either, and both sides stayed

quiet.
Finally, Maxwell said, “Last time.”
“Stephanie, after this meal, before we get remarried, if there’s nothing. important, I won’t reach out to you or Belinda again.”
Stephanie’s lips were slightly pursed.
“Maxwell, you kept your word,” she said.
She wasn’t going to remarry Maxwell, so if he could keep his promise, this was a real breakup dinner.
“Do what you say.” Maxwell said softly
As he spoke, Maxwell sent Stephanie the time and place, then hung up the phone.
He looked at the kindergarten not far outside the car window.
Actually, he didn’t know why he did this.
Roxanne died a few months later, and then he got back together with Stephanie.
And he also needed some strength to get through the days ahead.
Maxwell looked up, and Belinda was still drawing inside. She was painting with her good friend, and they looked really happy.
He couldn’t help but give a gentle smile.
On the other side. Stephanie frowned.
She thought about it, then called McKayla and told her about it.
“Who knows him.” McKayla was off today, she was at home munching
on fruit and said. “As long as he’s willing to get the divorce certificate with you tomorrow, that’s fine.”
Stephanie thought that made sense.
“Now I’m just worried that the reason he asked you to come over this time was to make you change your mind, and that’s the real trouble,” McKayla said.
“Change your mind?” Stephanie thought that was just wishful thinking. Roxanne was still waiting.
“But I thought this was pretty unlikely,” McKayla said, putting down. what she was holding and picking up the remote. She said, “If he showed any sign of that, then you just firmly said no.”
“I remembered you had a backup plan before, if he didn’t agree to the divorce, then you’d sue for divorce.”
“If it really didn’t work, use that one.”
Listening to what McKayla said, Stephanie thought it made sense too.
She just didn’t really get what Maxwell did.
“Well, guys probably just wanted to sigh about the past, that’s normal. And didn’t he also want to wait until Roxanne died before getting back together with you? I guess he just wanted to keep you around so you wouldn’t run off.” McKayla analyzed matter–of–factly.
Stephanie nodded and said, That’s true.
“Hey, you’re not getting back together with him, right?” McKayla sat up straight right away
“How could it be.” Stephanie said, looking at the painting nearby, “Kayla, that day in the hospital stairwell, my heart already died.”

McKayla let out a long sigh and quickly said. “It was my fault, I shouldn’t have brought it up again.”
“It’s fine, I had Belinda,” Stephanic answered.
