Chapter 197
Didn’t feel good.
Stephanie picked out things Belinda could eat for her and didn’t really pay much attention to Maxwell the whole time.
She didn’t know what his purpose was for asking her to come over this time, she just wanted to get through today peacefully.
After waiting for a while, the dishes started coming one after another.
After the others left, Stephanie thought for a moment and said, “What do you want?”
Maxwell didn’t look at her face, but looked at his own plate.
“I just wanted to,” he said, “we never had a meal together as a family, so I wanted us to get together.”
Stephanie frowned a little. She wanted to argue and say they weren’t family, but then she thought, forget it. Just a few more hours–she could put up with it.
“I know you’re really mad at me.” Maxwell looked out at the sea.
“A lot of things happened this past year. Some of them weren’t what I wanted, but they really happened, and there was nothing I could do.” Maxwell’s voice was calm, and only his slightly lowered eyes gave away any emotion.
Stephanie looked at his profile. This was the first time in all these days that she really looked at him.

bridge, and those cold, thin lips.
He seemed just like before, but there was something more.
“Are you talking about Roxanne?” Stephanie asked directly.
Maxwell turned his face and looked at Stephanie.
There was a calm look in Stephanie’s eyes.
No anger.
Even the way she brought it up sounded like she was talking about someone else.
“I’ve thought about it these days.” Stephanie considered her words.
Her purpose for coming over for dinner today was so that Maxwell would go get the divorce certificate with her tomorrow, so everything should have centered around that.
Thinking about it, Stephanie said, “I think you’re not wrong. She didn’t have much time left. It’s good for you to spend some time with her.”
Stephanie was talking while handing things to Belinda.
I wanted to feed Belinda first..
She had already made up her mind. Once she got the divorce papers tomorrow, she would be free. So whatever he did with other women had nothing to do with her.
What she wanted was to take back the old members of the Shelton Group from him, find out the truth about her father’s death, bring back the glory of the Shelton Group, and live happily with Belinda.

The room got quiet again.
Only when Stephanie fed Belinda did the utensils make a soft clinking sound.
Maxwell stayed silent.
He watched the woman’s smooth movements and thought about what she meant by her tone just now.
Was it intentional mockery, or real obedience?
There wasn’t any sarcasm in her tone.
But if I obeyed, it was just what he wanted.
So why wasn’t he very happy.
The dishes came one after another. Belinda patted her stomach and said, “Auntie Stephanie, I’m full.
“There’s a little TV over there, let me turn it on for you, okay?” Stephanie picked Belinda up and took her to the bathroom to use the toilet.
This was a suite. Besides the dining room, there were other small
rooms.
Stephanie turned on the TV in the small living room and put on Tom and Jerry for Belinda.
Like that, she came back to her seat.
Silently ate the stuff on my plate.
The sky was getting dark.
“Recently, I often thought of some things from the past.” In the end, it

was Maxwell who spoke first.
Stephanie looked down at her plate and didn’t say anything.
“I remembered we once went to so many countries together, and we used to work hard for our careers and fought together.”
Maxwell took the wine from the table and poured her a glass.
“I’m taking Belinda back later.” Stephanie refused.
“I told Edgar to bring some people over to drive later,” Maxwell said as he poured himself another drink, “It’s not strong, I know you haven’t been well since you got hurt last time.”
Stephanie took a look and said, Yeah, it’s really not much different from a drink.
Stephanie only then took it.
But I just took a sip and put it down.
But Maxwell just held his wine glass and didn’t put it down.
He looked out at the calm sea and said softly, “I thought of our wedding, the meals you made for me, our home, you were always by my side.”
“And also…”
“I didn’t want to think about the past,” Stephanie said.
Not all past was beautiful.
Everything about him had already started to rot the moment he walked toward Roxanne.
