Chapter 106

When Elodre was finally discharged from the hospital, she flew back to California with her son and husband, feeling the joys of spring.

Once they got to the mansion, Cayden fell on his knees and astonishment flashed on her face.

“Once again, my heartbeat,” He said, gazing up at her while Raiden was in her arms. “I'm truly sorry for everything I said and did in anger. I ain't a monster to you, my darling. You're my wife and I am your husband. Raiden is my baby boy.”

Tears have blinded Elodre completely, coupled with goosebumps on her skin. She never expected this.

“I love you, baby,” He said. “Do you forgive me?”

“Yes!” She cried, her legs twitching hard. He stretched his hand up to her and she placed hers in his, pulling him up with a soft groan.

Smiling heartily at each other, they kissed passionately, hugging each other with Raiden between them.

As they stepped into the spacious luxurious living room, Cayden's employees organized a surprise welcome party for their master and mistress and this melted their hearts. They've adorned the living room with flowers and magnificent designs all over the wall; saying Welcome home Mr and Mrs. Brooks. We love you and are delighted to be a part of the Brooks family.

That melted Cayden's heart and the memory of Jasmine flickered in his head. Regardless, he appreciated and promised to reward every one of them and they all had ants in their pants as they rejoiced.

In an isolated building, Cayden walked through the hallway to a locked room. He opened the door and found Jasmine crying her eyes out while lying on the floor. She had bruises all over her body and face. Her eyes were puffy as well. Gasping, he ran to her and knelt by her side. “Oh, Jasmine…Jasmine?” He gently lifted her by her arms.

She looked up at him with her lifeless eyes and he was struck by her bleak face.

“Oh, Jasmine,” He cuddled her warmly. “I'm so sorry, okay? I'm sorry, my love.” He felt so sad for her and couldn't help it. Stroking her back, he made her rest her head on his chest.

“I…I'm innocent, M…Mr. Brooks,” She whimpered. “S…Sam stabbed herself…just to implicate me.”

Sadness was gleaming in his eyes, and for some reason, tears rolled down his cheeks. He could imagine her crying like this all the while…and there was no one to hear her out. She was trembling in his arms. “I'm truly sorry for not trusting you, Lady J. Sorry for being rash on you, okay?” He was rubbing her back. “I love you so much and care about you. I'm so sorry for what you've been through. I promise that Samantha will pay for what she did to you and my wife.”

“What about my mistress?” She asked shakily.

“She's around, Jasmine,” He said, taking away the hair strands from her face. “Damn, you look so sick.”

“I haven't eaten for days now,” She said.

“No no no, comm'n,” He lifted her in his arms and left the room.

Reaching the living room, he instructed Mia to bring dinner up the stairs for Jasmine. He carried her straight to her room and gently laid her on the bed. “My wife will come see you when you are a bit better, okay?”

In a split second, Mia brought food for Jasmine and Cayden watched her eat. At some point, he had to feed her due to how frail she was.

“You're a kind boss, Mr. Brooks,” She said after eating. “This means the world to me. I…I can't thank you enough. I thought I was gonna die in that room someday.”

“Oh,” He wrapped his arms around her and cuddled her. “I'm so sorry, Jasmine. Don't worry, I'll take you for a check-up tomorrow, okay?”

A broad smile lit up her face and he smiled back.

He smiled down at her. Damn! He can't imagine losing Jasmine either. She's been faithful and loyal since the day she started working for him. “So your husband divorced you?”

She was surprised to hear him ask that. “Y…yes,” She didn't look too bright.

“Oh,” He rubbed her back. “What's his name?”

“D…Davis McCollins,” She said.

“Know where he stays?” He asked.

She nodded. “Yes.”

“Do not worry, I'll take care of that, okay?”

A joyful cry escaped from her lips. “Th…thank you, Mr. Brooks!”

He nodded. “Anything for you, Lady J. So, does your arm hurt that bad?”

“The guys have been hitting me…so it's not healed yet.”

“Oh,” He said, examining her right arm. “I'm so sorry, okay? You'll go to the hospital first thing in the morning tomorrow and you'll be fine, okay?”

“Yes,” She blushed, smiling. “I appreciate your kindness, sir.”

“I owe you, Jasmine,” He said. “Lemme leave you to rest. See ya tomorrow!”

“Good night, Mr. Brooks!”

“And hey,” He said to her. “I don't want you to be afraid of me for any reason, do you get me?”

“Yes, sir,” She smiled.

“Feel free to come to me whenever you need anything or if something bothers you, okay?”

“Thank you, Mr. Brooks!” She just couldn't help the joy in her.

“You're welcome, dearie!” After another warm hug, he left the room and Jasmine burst out in tears of joy.

Cayden's heart leaped to his throat when he got into his room and saw his wife on the floor whimpering and this reminded him of how she used to cry each time he returned from work. Shutting the door, he ran to her in alarm. “My God! Baby?! Darling, what's wrong? What's going on?”

“My stomach…” She cried.

“Your stomach?” He was curious. “What happened to your stomach? Are you hungry or something?”

“N…no,” She whimpered.

Damn! He was confused. What's wrong?! He wondered in terror. Gently, he lifted her from the floor and laid her on the bed. He dashed to a drawer, brought out some pain relief tablets, and gave it to her with some water. “I'm sorry, baby.”

On his lap, he fondled her, watching her. He was so scared and curious.
