Chapter 77 Feel my wrath.
Chapter 77 Feel my wrath.
Isla’s POV.
“Mum, mum where are you? Please don’t go,” My voice was broken as I struggled to keep my breath.
Where am I? There was a blurry image of someone in white standing close to me.
As I tried to reach for the clothes, “Dum Dum dum,” the sound of my phone rippled me out of my sleep.
I sat up frightened, gasping as if I had just run a marathon.
A hand clutched to my shirt, while the other clutched to the bedsheet.
Dante followed, eyes wide and sharp. “Are you okay?”
He asked, pulling me closer to himself.
Sweat pooled down my thighs, my foregead flared hot.
“You’re burning, nightmare?” He asked.
I nodded once. “It’s just a dream. It’s part of me, no need for panic.”
“We’re getting you to the hospital, you don’t look okay to me.” He insisted.
“I’m fine, a cup of tea will do just fine,” I resisted.
He pulled me into his arms like I weighed nothing.
“You don’t get to decide for yourself.”
I’ve always had nightmares about my mother. But tonight?
It felt entirely different. Like she was really leaving, and I got so scared.
She never appeared blurry, the image of her in my dream had always been brighter than a light could ever shine.
Was she really leaving?
My heart sank. “Mum, I haven’t avenged you yet, you shouldn’t leave, not now, not when I need you the most.”
The ride to the hospital was a quiet one. Dante steered on the car as fast as he could.
I sat on the passenger’s seat, lost in my thoughts.
His hand reached for my forehead. “Your temperature could literally boil water.”
I placed a hand in my mouth as I coughed. Cold hit my body in one go.
“I’m fine, you don’t need to make a fuss about it.”
We arrived at the hospital in less than an hour.
He carried me inside in a hurry.
I was placed in a ward.
“Doctor,” Dante said, voice low. “What is wrong with my wife? Is she going to be okay?”
“It’s nothing serious. She’ll be given a drip and a good rest.”
A deep sigh left his throat. “Thank goodness.”
He turned to me, face fuming. “Seriously? Don’t you ever care about your health?”
My back lifted as I tried to sit up. “I’ve always been like this since I was a child. A cup of warm water and pain relief was all it takes.”
His eyes glued on me.
Nobody had ever cared for me this way. My father didn’t care this much.
He was never there during my sick moments, and I’ve never relied on him, and the same goes to my siblings.
“You should get some rest, you have an important meeting tomorrow morning.”
“You still think about work on your sick bed? The meeting can be extended to next week, your health is far more important than it.”
My jaw dropped, my throat went dry.
“Get some rest,” he said to me.
Morning came slowly.
I opened my eyes to Dante sitting beside me, head down, hands slipped into mine.
He’s been here all night.
The drip already stopped. Only the faint sound of the heart monitor was beeping.
My eyes were fixed on him, like this was the first time I had seen him asleep.
“Why do I find him more attractive than he used to be? Maybe I hadn’t looked this close.”
My hand slides to his hair, and then to his nose.
His eyes opened before I could stop myself.
“You’re awake,” he said, lifting his head.
“How do you feel?” His hand reached for my forehead. “Thank goodness, my heart can finally be at peace.”
“You… stayed up all night. Sorry I didn’t mean to bother you…”
A smile tugged at his face. “I never said you were bothering me honey.”
My phone vibrated.
His hands moved faster than mine ever could.
“Josie,” he said.
He handed it over to me.
“Hey, Jo. What’s up?” I asked, voice cracking.
There was a sound on the phone, I could barely hear her voice.
My body trembled. “Hey, sis…” the voice came clear, and then faded again.
I could hear faint voices of my father yelling.
“Sis, he knows.” That was the last thing I heard before the phone went dead.
I tried calling, but it wasn’t connecting.
My hands pulled the drip needle and in one go, I shot out of bed.
Dante followed. “Easy, I’m sure she’s fine, she just.”
He reached for his assistant in one go. “Check out the Bennettie house for me. I want information on everything that is happening there.”
We arrived home in less than thirty minutes.
Dante’s men already surrounded the whole building before we arrived.
We heard faint voices of struggles as we ran inside.
“How dare you?” I heard my father’s voice. It sounded furious.
“Don’t hurt him,” Josie said, voice cracking.
“You know what happens to those who dare to defile me?” He fired back.
“Let me go!” Iris cried out.
Dante pulled the door open in a go.
I froze. “Don’t you dare!” Dante said. His voice sounded like thunder.
Josie was held to the ground, blood stained her lips. Iris was already beaten to a pulp.
“Charles!” My mouth opened before I could control it.
“Guards,” Dante said, running over to Iris. “Hold him down.”
I ran toward Josie. “Sis, you’re finally here. Iris… he…” she passed out.
“Somebody call an ambulance, now!”
My father stood, smiling. “I told you not to cross me.”
Anger tightened in my chest, tears stung my eyes.
“If anything happens to them, I’ll make you pay.”
