Chapter 42 Not Refuting Equals Acquiescence

Chapter 42 Not Refuting Equals Acquiescence

Ava kept calling Hayden over and over, completely ignoring Mia.

"Ava, I really don't know what you're still struggling for. Making a fool of yourself?"

"Bad woman!" Cleo in front of the screen was so angry her little face turned completely red, and she couldn't help slapping the table.

Finn was also furious. The Thomas family were all bad people after all. Ava went to help them with good intentions, yet they blocked her outside the door. And that Mia, showing off in front of Ava just to upset her - how hateful.

"Finn, we need to find a way to help Ava."

"Okay." Finn nodded firmly. His fingers were about to work the keyboard when his eyes caught something. "Wait, Cleo, look - what's Ava doing?"

Ava's expression turned cold. Mia gave the security guards a look, and they understood, stepping forward to rudely drive Ava away.

The temples on both sides of Ava's forehead throbbed sharply. Her icy gaze swept over the guards, then turned directly to the car behind her. Ava turned and got in the car.

Mia sneered coldly, watching Ava's defeated retreat with unstoppable satisfaction. "Fight with me? You're still..."

A piercing horn suddenly blared.

What?

What was this Ava trying to do?

Mia's eyes suddenly widened, her whole face twisted with panic. "Ava, are you crazy?!"

The only response was the accelerating engine.

Ava charged toward the gate without hesitation, the sharp, prolonged sound echoing through the entire space.

The car windows were wide open, and the wild wind with raindrops rushed into the car. Ava's phoenix eyes narrowed slightly, her long hair draped over her shoulders blown by the wind. Her whole body radiated a cold and wild arrogance. Even when the guards anxiously pointed guns at her, her starry eyes remained determined, the engine sound only growing louder.

The iron gate was knocked crooked.

The car rushed into the Thomas Villa at high speed, unstoppable.

She had to get through this gate today. She had to save him.

Mia was so scared she clutched her chest, watching in horror as the car broke through the iron gate and sped in, her face full of disbelief.

Where did Ava get the nerve to force her way into the Thomas Villa?

She bit her teeth hard. No.

She couldn't let Ava see Victor. If she treated Victor on the spot, all her lies would be exposed.

She absolutely wouldn't allow that to happen. Mia hurried after her.

At the main house entrance, Mia saw Hayden personally coming down to receive Ava.

"Ava, sorry, my phone died! Come in quickly."

Ava nodded with a frown, grabbed her medicine box, and started running.

"Hayden?" Mia, following close behind, frowned tightly.

"Mia?" Hayden scoffed without hiding it. "What are you doing here?"

"I came to treat Grandpa." Mia said anxiously, but with that pitiful look, her eyes full of drama.

A cold smile flashed in Hayden's eyes. His tall figure blocked Mia's way. He leaned casually against the doorframe, lips curled, looking like a complete playboy. He mocked, "Mia, stop pretending! I can't stand women like you. Stop causing trouble for Ava, or I won't let you off."

"I..." Mia wanted to say something, but Hayden didn't give her another chance to speak.

A strong hatred surged in Mia's eyes.

She just couldn't understand why Hayden, this arrogant playboy who was so frivolous and looked down on everyone, would protect Ava at every turn. And she discovered something terrifying - Hayden had always been respectful toward Ava, even in front of Joshua. What was even more frightening was that Joshua had never objected to Hayden's attitude toward Ava.

Not objecting meant accepting it.

A terrible thought jumped into Mia's mind.

Could it be that Joshua still considered Ava his wife in his heart?

Mia was startled by this thought that popped into her head. She staggered back a couple of steps, involuntarily looking at the magnificent Thomas Villa - this was the place she had always dreamed of.

No, she absolutely wouldn't allow Ava to get there first. She would never give in.

In the room, Victor had just been examined by Barry.

Barry put Victor's hand back under the covers, his brow furrowed tightly.

Seeing Barry's expression, Joshua's brow also furrowed, cold air spreading around him. He said in a deep voice, "How is Grandpa?"

"Compared to before, not good. Did you give Victor any other medicine?"

"No, the medicine we prepared for Grandpa was all according to Mia's prescription." Ursa clutched her chest, supported by someone, crying so hard she could barely breathe.

"What's Grandpa's condition now?" Ava rushed in, not giving anyone a chance to stop her. She immediately knelt by Victor's bed, not even having time to catch her breath before forcing herself to calm down and placing her fingers on Victor's pulse.

Ava's brow furrowed deeply.

How could this be!

It was even worse than she expected.

Without hesitation, Ava took out a small bottle of pills from her prepared medicine box, poured out one pill, and put it in Victor's mouth.

Her movements were extremely fast. Just as she was about to prepare the next step, a sharp voice rang out behind her.

"Ava!" Ursa glared at Ava coldly as if seeing an enemy. "Someone, pull her away from me."

Ava was dragged away from Victor's bedside by several servants.

Joshua's eyes flashed, then turned cold again.

Ava was soaked from head to toe, like she'd just been pulled out of a river. Even her hair was dripping water, drops falling on her thin shoulders. She looked as miserable as could be.

Didn't she know to use an umbrella in the rain?

Stupid woman!

His cold gaze turned away.

Whether she was wet or not - what did it have to do with him?
