Chapter 153 We Play Slowly

Chapter 153 We Play Slowly

Timothy glanced at Ava apologetically.

If Timothy could see through Ava's thoughts, how could Ava not see through his?

Just then, a sudden chill rose behind her.

Ava turned around to see a tall figure standing behind her, his tense handsome face radiating an icy coldness.

"Joshua, you're here? I just happened to see it by accident, Ava and Timothy..."

Joshua's gaze slowly moved from Ava to Timothy.

His hands clenched into fists, anger burning in his eyes. It looked like Joshua was about to throw a punch.

Ava stepped forward and grabbed his hand.

Joshua turned his head to look at her.

Ava's bright eyes blinked at him.

The next moment, Ava stood on her tiptoes, wrapped her arms around his neck, and planted a kiss on his cool lips.

Joshua's body trembled, his pupils contracted, flashing with disbelief. By the time he came to his senses, Ava's soft lips had already left his.

A hint of shyness flashed in Ava's eyes. She grabbed his clothes and looked up at him, "Calmed down now?"

"Calmed down."

"What brought you here?"

Joshua handed Ava his phone, showing a message Thea had sent him about ten minutes ago - a photo of Timothy holding her hand.

Ava frowned, her cold gaze sweeping over Thea with a hint of mockery in her eyes.

Just as she thought.

She looked up at Joshua, her delicate face wearing a calm smile, "I can explain."

"You don't need to explain." Joshua took Ava's hand and pulled her into his arms, his anger completely gone without a trace. "I trust you."

Ava smiled, her expression carrying the sweetness and shyness of a woman in front of her man.

The onlookers finally snapped back to reality.

This woman they thought was a homewrecker actually had such a handsome husband.

And they looked quite sweet together. They were stunned by that bold yet shy kiss, and even more charmed by the man's words, "You don't need to explain, I trust you."

So was this woman really a homewrecker or not?

"Haven't eaten dinner yet?" Joshua gently ruffled Ava's hair.

Ava nodded slightly, "Just about to eat."

"Should I join you?"

"Sure, aren't you busy? Did you finish with work at the company?"

"I'm busy, but compared to work, you're more important." Joshua said as he sat down with Ava, completely naturally.

Ava smiled calmly, but her gaze shifted to Thea, "Ms. Ellis, what were you saying about seeing me and Mr. King?"

Thea gritted her teeth hard, the anger inside her almost drowning her.

How could this woman be so shameless, seducing men right in front of everyone?

This was too much.

Thea took a deep breath, looking utterly helpless, "Joshua, maybe I misunderstood Ava and Timothy. Perhaps they really are just ordinary friends having dinner together. Timothy holding Ava's hand might just be a friendly gesture between friends."

Her words made something ordinary sound completely inappropriate.

Ava sneered.

"So it was a misunderstanding?" Ava raised an eyebrow at Thea.

Thea bit her lip, "I suppose I misunderstood."

"Suppose?"

Thea wouldn't give up this opportunity. She pressed on, "Yes, after all, you two just now... so I'm not sure if there's really something between you."

As Thea spoke, she couldn't help but look at Joshua, hoping to see some doubt in his eyes.

But Joshua's expression remained cold, all his attention on Ava, without a hint of suspicion.

Thea felt unwilling to give up.

She turned around and grabbed Quiana's hand with a grieved look, saying helplessly, "Quiana, forget it, let's go."

"Forget what?" Quiana refused, thinking Thea was too easy to bully. The facts were right in front of them - how could she just swallow her pride?

And this woman was so disgusting.

First seducing Timothy, then Joshua - why were all the good men in the world revolving around her? What gave her the right?

Quiana's gaze fixed on Joshua. He sat there quietly, doing nothing, his handsome features and noble bearing making women's hearts flutter.

How could such a good man be wasted on this kind of woman?

"Joshua, don't be fooled by this woman. She was just blatantly seducing Timothy. How can such a loose woman deserve to be by your side?" Quiana's voice was already shrill, and her shouting made it even louder.

"Quiana, stop talking." Thea came over to pull Quiana's hand, acting as if she would just swallow her grievances.

"Thea, you're just too nice. How can you let this woman off so easily?" Quiana said angrily, then turned to Joshua again, ignoring Thea's attempts to stop her, "Joshua, really, I saw it with my own eyes. This woman was seducing Timothy, smiling at him so seductively."

Joshua's expression grew colder and colder, "Seducing?"

Quiana seemed to see Joshua's expression change, and immediately continued, "That's right, seducing. In broad daylight, it was shameless. And Timothy has a fiancée - what she did was so shameless. So Joshua, this woman is dirty beyond belief. Are you sure you want to keep such a woman by your side?"

"If not her, should I keep you?" His dark eyes held no warmth as he looked coldly at Quiana.

Quiana saw Joshua looking at her, and wild joy surged in her eyes. She bit her lower lip, looking at Ava with contempt and disdain.

"Joshua, you're wise and powerful, incredibly handsome. If you're willing to keep me by your side, it would be my honor." Quiana hadn't expected such a pleasant surprise from coming out with Thea today.

A man like Joshua was hard to meet even for someone from a prominent family like her, let alone get this close to.

Thinking of Mia, the woman who used to be by Joshua's side, and how glorious that was - her whole family had connections to the Thomas family and enjoyed unlimited prestige.

She prided herself on her figure and looks being among the best, believing she would be even more favored by his side. She was just waiting for the day she could latch onto Joshua and bring glory to her family.

She never expected this opportunity would actually come and be right in front of her. She had to seize it firmly.

A heavy slap rang out. Before Quiana could react, the pain on her left cheek was all too real.

This slap seemed to wake her from her dream. Quiana was furious.

"Quiana." Thea gasped.

"You bitch, how dare you hit me?" Quiana immediately shook off Thea's hand and was about to rush forward.

"I was wondering why there was a dog barking in such a high-end restaurant - turns out it's coming from you." Isabella shook her hand, looking at her coldly.

"You - who are you? What gives you the right to hit me?" Quiana was confused by this slap and fuming with anger.

"What gives me the right to hit you? What gives you the right to slander my good friend?"

"Good friend? Great, so that shameless bitch has such an unreasonable friend too. Birds of a feather really do flock together."

"You idiot, let me teach you a lesson." Isabella raised her hand to go after Quiana's mouth.

Seeing this, Quiana's eyes darted around, and she fell toward Joshua.

"Joshua, save me! This woman is trying to kill me."
