Chapter 176 Rescue

Chapter 176 Rescue

In the center of the cell was a pool of murky water.

Astrid refused to go in, no matter what.

The person behind her gave her a hard shove. She lost her footing and fell straight into the water.

She couldn't swim, but fortunately, the water wasn't deep. After swallowing a mouthful of water, she managed to stand up straight, soaking wet and looking completely miserable.

Seeing her like this, Oliver's legs felt weak.

"Astrid, I'll find a way to get you out of here!"

After saying that, Oliver walked toward Michelle, dropped to his knees before her, "Let her go!"

Just then, the door was smashed open from outside, and a car crashed into the room with several people jumping out.

Dust flew everywhere. All they could see was the car breaking through the wall and charging in, but couldn't make out who had arrived.

Michelle asked in panicked alarm, "What's happening?"

Oliver also looked around anxiously.

People from both sides started fighting.

The scene filled with sounds of collision.

Among them was a tall, upright figure who stepped out of the car with long strides, his face cold as he passed by them, searching everywhere for something.

The cell door hadn't been closed yet.

The people who had taken Astrid down were trying to chain her up.

When Michelle saw who it was, surprise flashed across her face, and she slapped Oliver hard across the face.

"Why did you bring him here!"

"It wasn't me!" Oliver's body went limp as he slumped to the ground, covering his face with one hand, watching helplessly as Silas walked toward the basement.

Seeing the intruder, one of the two men holding Astrid pulled out a gun and aimed it at Silas.

"Take one more step, and I'll blow your head off!" the man threatened loudly.

Silas's deep, cold eyes swept over Astrid, who was too weak to resist, and his expression grew darker.

He didn't stop walking.

He completely ignored the man's warning.

The gunman was intimidated by Silas's powerful presence, and the hand holding the gun trembled slightly.

A gunshot rang out.

The bullet flew past Silas's ear and punched a narrow hole in the wall behind him.

Astrid's cold body froze in the distance.

Silas, approaching, looked like a demon from hell—anyone who got close to him would meet their end at his hands.

The man who had missed his shot watched Silas keep advancing and aimed the gun at him again.

Before he could pull the trigger, Silas swiftly reached out and snatched the gun from him, grabbed the man's wrist, and threw him onto the steps. The man passed out on the spot.

The remaining person was intimidated by Silas's presence. His gun had gotten wet, so he angrily threw it into the water and tried to slip past Silas to escape.

Silas suddenly reached out, his movements quick and fierce, knocking the man to the ground.

Astrid coughed continuously, shaking the chains on her hands, trying to break free from the water.

Silas waded into the dirty water, walking toward her step by step. He bent down to unlock her chains, his voice hoarse beyond recognition.

"I came too late."

Just this one sentence hit Astrid's heart like a heavy hammer. It made no sound, but left her feeling even more conflicted.

Her eyes were bloodshot, her lips trembling as she looked at him in confusion.

Silas reached out and slowly brushed her wet hair behind her ear, then scooped her up in his arms and slowly walked up the stairs.

The people Michelle had brought were all taken care of by Silas's men, lying scattered on the ground, groaning in pain.

Michelle and Oliver were also being watched by Silas's people.

"Silas, I'm your sister-in-law. Tell your people to let me and Oliver go!" The two of them were being held down in chairs by Silas's men.

"Take them to The Montgomery Manor. I'll be back soon." Silas gave orders to his people without changing expression, then headed toward the car outside.

"Silas, put me down." Astrid was soaking wet and wanted to get down from his arms, but he held her tighter.

Silas was also wet now. The water from the cell smelled terrible.

He didn't need to do all this.

"You need to change clothes. Come with me to The Montgomery Manor." Silas's voice was dark and low, carrying a force that wouldn't accept refusal.

Astrid was stunned by his words.

Wasn't he blaming her for leaving with Oliver?

Just now, the gun had been aimed at him, and in that moment, he hadn't dodged or shown any fear. Astrid couldn't quite describe what she was feeling toward Silas right now.

Silas placed her in the passenger seat and fastened her seatbelt. Just as he was about to close the car door, he said something.

"No matter where you go, I can find you and bring you back."

Astrid's fingers moved slightly. In the end, she pressed her lips into a thin line and said nothing.

Silas drove fast.

The air in the car was cold.

When they arrived at The Montgomery Manor, he took her through a shortcut, avoiding people, and brought her straight to his room, tossing several women's outfits in front of her.

Astrid took the clothes and silently walked into the bathroom.

When she came out after showering, Silas had also changed clothes and dried his hair.

Silas expressionlessly grabbed her hand and pulled her outside, heading downstairs.

In the spacious living room were quite a few people. Michelle now looked like a defeated prisoner, completely stripped of her earlier arrogance.

"From today on, you are permanently expelled from the Montgomery Group and banned from entering any industry. If you violate this, I will hunt you down."

Silas stood at the railing on the second floor, looking down at the people below, his voice cold as he made the announcement.

Those Montgomery family members being watched by Silas's people showed varying degrees of regret and resentment on their faces.

They had long been in league with Michelle, planning to wait for the right moment to pull Silas down from his position as family head.

They never expected that Silas had discovered their plan all along and crushed it before they could act.

"Michelle, look what you've done." Someone quietly blamed Michelle. "We can never do business again. How are we supposed to survive!"

Everyone complained, but only dared to take it out on Michelle.

Oliver looked up at the figure standing beside Silas, his eyes full of desolation.

Michelle had used him as a pawn to achieve cooperation with others; Astrid had never truly loved him either. He had gone through so much trouble to get her out, yet she still returned to Silas's side, looking at him with admiration.

For her sake, Silas would even risk his life.

Thinking of this, Oliver's expression alternated between laughter and tears.

"Oliver, if you want to come back to work, you must agree to my conditions." Silas's unfathomable eyes looked down at him.

Oliver was too obsessed with possessing Astrid, but hadn't done anything to betray the company. Silas could give him a way out.

"Say yes quickly." Michelle quietly urged him.

As long as Oliver could go back, she would still have a chance to turn things around.

She couldn't count on Ivan, so now she could only rely on Oliver.

"No thanks. I have my own plans." Oliver replied with a cold expression.
