Chapter 175 I Need Your Help
Chapter 175 I Need Your Help
Astrid didn't answer his question. Instead, she changed the subject.
"I need your help."
Her most urgent matter right now was to leave the villa.
She didn't have the energy to think carefully about how Oliver had come to suspect her. Those forces were far away overseas - even if he knew about them, they wouldn't pose any immediate danger.
"What kind of help?" Oliver asked, looking at the bodyguards outside.
Astrid told him to find a way to get her out of here. She had discovered the gemstone matter and wanted to leave Silas, but Silas had gone crazy and locked her in the villa.
Oliver was secretly delighted and agreed immediately.
After Astrid changed her clothes, their eyes met in the air. They both nodded at the same time and walked toward the door.
Oliver walked in front with Astrid behind him. A bodyguard reached out and stopped her.
"Astrid needs to go out for something. I'll bring her back later," Oliver said expressionlessly to the bodyguard after walking a few steps and noticing Astrid hadn't followed.
"No," the bodyguard answered firmly.
Oliver reached out and took Astrid's hand, trying to force their way out. The bodyguards nearby were already making moves to intervene.
"I'll leave that matter to you," Astrid said to Oliver with meaning.
Oliver instantly understood what she meant, nodded, and left.
After that, Oliver came to the villa several more times. Each time he just chatted and left, appearing to simply be killing time.
The bodyguards got used to it and became less vigilant.
One day, Oliver's car suddenly stalled a few yards from the villa.
He tried multiple times, then got out angrily, kicked a tire, and irritably came to the bodyguards, asking them to help.
The two bodyguards looked at the closed door. Eventually, under Oliver's insistence, they walked toward the car.
They didn't notice a figure quickly slipping into the trunk while they weren't paying attention.
Oliver in the driver's seat suddenly started the car.
"Thank you! Thank you!" Oliver waved to the two bodyguards. "I need to go to the repair shop now to get it checked."
The car left the villa and reached the street. Only then did Astrid slowly climb from the back to the rear seat.
The car headed toward the busy downtown area.
"Astrid, you should hide out at my place first. Once things blow over, I'll take you out of the country," Oliver said while driving, making arrangements.
"Silas's people react quickly. Going to the airport now would be walking into a trap."
Astrid didn't answer, leaning against the back seat, her heart dead as water.
Oliver knew she was in a bad mood and changed the subject. No matter what he said, Astrid had no reaction.
The car entered an underground garage, took the elevator upstairs - everything went smoothly.
"Only my mom knows about this villa," Oliver said confidently. "No one will disturb us."
"Take a look around. Whatever you need, I'll go out and buy it later."
Oliver placed his hand on the fingerprint lock. The door opened.
Astrid lifted her leg to walk in. A gun pointed at Astrid's head.
"Who are you! Put the gun down!" Oliver tried to block Astrid, but someone pulled him aside.
A figure slowly walked out from inside the room.
"Mom!" Oliver shouted in shock. "What are you doing here? Are these all your people?"
A chill ran through Astrid's entire body.
Although she and Michelle never became mother and daughter-in-law, there had been no conflict between them. She couldn't understand why Michelle would do this to her.
While thinking, the man holding her moved the gun pointed at her, signaling her to move to the other side.
"I told you my heart only has room for her. Why are you doing this!" Oliver shouted in pain and helplessness, seeing Astrid's powerless state.
"You promised me that as long as I could bring Astrid out, you'd let us be together!"
Michelle looked at Oliver, whom she had raised to be completely obedient, then at Astrid's face full of hatred. Not only was she not angry, but a smile appeared - one that sent chills down the spine.
"Shut up!" Michelle scolded Oliver.
This was the first time she had used such a harsh tone with Oliver.
She walked toward Astrid step by step, staring at her viciously, saying through gritted teeth, "I should have seen it earlier - you and your mother would both ruin my grand plans!"
Astrid's pupils widened slightly.
Was there something else she didn't know about?
Michelle was involved too?
What kind of joke was fate playing on her!
"I should have eliminated the problem completely back then!" Michelle's eyes revealed a murderous look.
"Mom!" Oliver's voice trembled. "What are you doing? Don't hurt her."
He blocked Michelle's path.
His mind was in chaos. Although he had many questions, he knew now wasn't the time to ask. Ensuring Astrid's safety was most important.
Michelle turned a deaf ear.
Oliver pulled Michelle aside and tried to rescue Astrid from those people.
"Let her go!"
The two men restraining Astrid used even more force.
Oliver, who didn't usually exercise, was no match for them at all.
"You useless fools! Can't even watch one person properly!" Michelle angrily looked at the people who let Oliver break free.
Oliver grabbed a nearby chair and kept swinging it, not letting anyone get close.
"Oliver, if you ruin my plan again, I'll have someone kill her right now!" Michelle threatened.
Oliver had already lost his mind over Astrid! He had never been this rebellious before!
"Look at you - for her, you've gone so crazy you're not even human anymore! You dare challenge me now!"
"For that reason alone, Astrid must die!"
Michelle glanced at the two people holding Astrid.
"I was wrong!" Oliver immediately threw down the chair, his face pale, and stepped aside.
"Have them let her go," Oliver tried to negotiate.
"Lock her in the cell!" Michelle ordered viciously.
Both Astrid and Oliver looked at Michelle in shock.
"Cell?" they asked in unison. This house has a cell?
"Oliver, I don't want to go to a cell, no! Please no!" Astrid's mind went blank as she struggled desperately, to no avail.
"I'll listen to you, I won't talk back anymore. Please let her go!" Oliver begged anxiously.
Michelle glanced at the people she brought. They dragged Astrid toward the basement. Before long, they could smell dampness and stench in the air.
"Mom," Oliver called out hoarsely, watching helplessly as Astrid was taken away.
He understood Michelle - once she decided on something, you absolutely couldn't go against her, or it would only make her angrier.
Astrid was in her hands. He couldn't act rashly.
