Chapter 177 Silas is avoiding her

Astrid looked at him as if she were seeing a king who ruled over everything in the world.

When she left Diamond Ridge Estates, Silas must have received the information, which was why he could rush over so quickly to save her.

Not only did he save her, but he also cleared out all the enemies of the Montgomery Group.

Astrid's gaze moved from his chiseled profile downward, sliding to his shoulder, then she slowly turned her head to look at Oliver sitting below, completely flustered.

He was just a coward used by Michelle, watching helplessly as Michelle tried to kill her, unable to do anything except beg.

As Astrid was thinking, Silas took her hand and led her downstairs, got back in the car, and returned to the villa where they both lived.

Astrid sat quietly on the sofa, watching him take off his coat and sit down beside her, his long legs crossed, looking noble and aloof.

The clock on the wall ticked second by second.

Warm sunlight streamed in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, falling on her, giving her a sense of relief from surviving a disaster.

Astrid sat on the sofa, waiting for him to explain on his own. As long as he spoke, she would believe him.

She believed that a man who risked his life to save her wouldn't harm her over a gemstone.

Silas pressed his thin lips together lightly, showing no intention of speaking.

She didn't know how much time had passed when Astrid, leaning against the sofa, fell asleep without realizing it.

When she woke up, she found herself lying in bed, with the space beside her empty.

Silas wasn't home. The servants said he had gone to work.

Astrid remembered that before Rolf died, he had handed over all company matters to her. Too much had happened recently, and she hadn't had a chance to go back to the company to take a look.

After walking quite far from the villa, she suddenly realized that those bodyguards had been withdrawn by Silas.

A surge of joy rose in her heart.

Although the gemstone was in Silas's hands, he hadn't used it for anything.

With Silas's capabilities, he could easily buy the gemstone. He probably just didn't know what had happened with it.

Astrid thought this as she arrived at Prescott Jewelers.

Everything at the company was running smoothly.

Seeing her appear, employees warmly greeted her, "Ms. Prescott."

It seemed that during her absence, the company had been operating well.

In the CEO's office, an extra desk had been added, and Calista was talking with the secretary.

"Put these documents aside for now. After Astrid comes back and reviews them, we'll make decisions."

"But she's not answering calls or replying to messages. When will she be back? The company matters are all urgent," the secretary asked anxiously.

Hearing this, Astrid pushed the door open and entered.

"Astrid!" Calista's face lit up with a smile when she saw her, and she gestured for the secretary to leave first.

"I've been doing my best to manage things," Calista said, pouring her some water and placing it in front of her.

Astrid looked around the office, satisfaction showing in her eyes.

When Silas had locked her up, she had messaged Calista, hoping she could step up and manage things to put the company's people at ease.

Prescott Jewelers couldn't withstand any more turmoil.

Calista had majored in business management during her studies abroad. She hadn't been back in the country long, but she had her own unique insights about business and hadn't been influenced by the Prescott family.

Moreover, when she was studying abroad, she often kept in touch with Astrid. Their relationship was good, and Astrid believed she would put her knowledge to use and lead Prescott Jewelers well.

This way, she could be a hands-off manager, and when Dean saw that Calista had gained influence in the company, he wouldn't cause trouble.

"Calista, I came up from downstairs, floor by floor, and found that everyone's work attitude hasn't slacked off because of what happened to the family."

"This shows that during this time, you've maintained the company's stability."

"And my previous experience at Starlight Gems isn't very useful here. I need to start learning from scratch, so why don't you continue helping me manage the company."

"After all, this company is partly yours too." Astrid put her hand on Calista's shoulder and spoke to her seriously.

"What?" Calista was somewhat surprised.

Dean and Arthur had been fighting and competing in the company, constantly creating trouble for each other behind the scenes. Were the two of them doing this?

"That's settled then." Astrid knew what Calista was worried about, but she didn't say it out loud.

Calista was moved to receive Astrid's trust and support.

After all, at Prescott Jewelers now, Astrid had veto power. Using an excuse to kick Calista out would just be a matter of words.

Calista and Astrid happily reached an agreement. After chatting in the office for a while about recent events, Astrid left the company.

When she got home, Silas hadn't returned yet. Astrid waited and waited, her eyelids growing heavy, but still didn't see any sign of him.

The next morning, when she woke up, Silas had already gone to work. Only the changed clothes and the messy bed beside her proved he had been back.

As it was getting dark, Astrid sent him a message asking when he would be back.

Silas: [Still busy with work, you should rest first.]

He replied quickly, and the content seemed normal.

Over the next few days, she didn't see him at all.

Astrid felt something wasn't right and deliberately let the servants know she had been waiting for him, wanting them to pass the message to Silas.

That day.

Calista came to her with some business. After they finished discussing work, she asked what Astrid had been doing lately, and Astrid mentioned not having seen Silas for a long time.

"He's not having an affair, is he?" Calista blurted out her guess.

"Impossible," Astrid answered quickly.

"Right, he just risked his life to save you. He wouldn't cheat so soon." Calista thought it must be work exhaustion that made her say such a thing without thinking.

"Yeah," Astrid replied softly.

"When he's not paying attention, secretly check his phone." Calista slowed her speech and suggested thoughtfully, "He's so outstanding. Even if he can stay faithful, who knows if those women out there are seducing him, clinging to him."

"I'll think about it." Astrid gave a noncommittal answer.

After hanging up, Astrid lay in bed, flipping through TV channels one after another. She had wanted to wait for Silas to come back, but somehow fell asleep again.

When she asked the servants, they said they had tactfully mentioned what she asked them to in front of Silas, but they didn't know what happened after that.

After hearing the servants' answer, Astrid increasingly felt that Silas was deliberately avoiding her.

And she had no chance at all to get Silas's phone.

Astrid also noticed that she had been extremely sleepy lately, so she went to the hospital for a checkup. Based on her description, the doctor had her get a blood test.

Half an hour later, Astrid looked at the content on the blood test report and froze in place.
