Chapter 877 Chapter 877

Chapter 877 Chapter 877
Gia hung up the phone and went back to the stove.

Foster wanted to know what was said, but his stomach was too busy reminding him how hungry he was. Eating at the diner so many days had spoiled him, and right now, the bacon she was cooking was making him drool.

Deacon was sitting at the table doing something to his scope. “What did your brother say?”

She smiled over her shoulder. “Walker is now the liaison of all rogue and lost clans in the US.”

Foster leaned over her shoulder and checked if the bacon was cooked enough to take a piece. “So, what does he do?”

She set the tongs down and turned around, gave him a warning look so he’d back up and then she leaned against the counter. “Any clans found or rogue factions he will work with to bring them into the Alliance.”

Deacon put his scope down and looked at her. “If he ever comes across anyone from Maxton’s bunch, tell him to proceed with caution.”

Gia nodded. “He will. He might seem like a politician, but he can handle himself.”

Foster saw how she was guarding the pan and sat back down. “Maybe he should have an armed partner.”

Gia sighed. “I should tell him that.”

“Tell Zain,” Foster suggested. “He’ll make sure he has a guard or bodyguard or whatever he wants to call them.”

“I don’t want him to be unprepared and think every clan will come in without incident.”

“I don’t think he’s that naive.” Gia turned back to the stove.

Foster was so hungry. “I guess he’ll work with Ena’s clan?”

She glanced at him. “Yes.”

“Work with my clan?”

He turned to see Ena standing in the doorway, her hair was still wet from the shower, but she looked more relaxed now. Even over the smell of the bacon, he could smell the shampoo she used, and that other scent was there too. “Gia’s brother, Walker, will work with your clan.”

“Do you have an alpha?” Deacon picked up his scope again.

“No.” She shook her head. “He passed away about five years ago.”

“No one took over as alpha?” Gia opened the fridge and got the tray of eggs out.

Ena wrapped her arms around her waist. “No. Orson just sort of looked after everyone.” She

shrugged. “As much as he could.”

Gia smiled at her. “There’s time before anything is discussed.” She nodded. “First, they’ll concentrate on getting your homes all fixed up.”

She shook her head. “I don’t even know if I remember what they look like, not falling apart.”

The sound of a door closing had Deacon jump up, a handgun in his hand. Foster didn’t even know where it came from.

Foster lurched and pulled Ena away from the doorway as Deacon aimed the gun in that direction.

“Do you all leave the door unlock…” Cy stopped outside the kitchen and held his hands up. “Hey, Deacon.” He gave him a lopsided grin.

Deacon exhaled and tucked the gun into the back of his jeans. “You should knock.”

“It’s the team safe house. I’m one of the team.” Cy shrugged and nodded to Foster. “I did a quick look at the location on the way here.” He blew out a breath. “Once I shower and refuel, I’ll head back that way and work on getting some surveillance set up.”

“We looked too.” Deacon sat back down, picked up his scope, and looked through it. “It’s going to be a tough one.”

“Morley from cleanup will be here in the morning. He’s good on a rifle.” Cy pulled out a chair and sat down and then nodded to Ena. “I’m Cy.”

“Ena.” She said quietly and then turned around and went over and opened a cupboard and took out some plates.

Foster’s heart slowed, and he grabbed the chair, turned it so he could see the doorway, and then sat back down. “Luka, Kash, and Leyton will be here tomorrow too.”

Cy smiled. “That’s a good start.”

“Madison from medical won’t be here until tomorrow night.” Gia said and cracked some eggs into a pan. “Andi from tech, and Creed are coming in, I’m not sure when. Both are fliers.”

“Fliers are good.” Cy nodded. “Raymond texted me that a couple from a Nebraska bear clan were coming to help.” He pulled out his phone and looked at it. “Kellen and Templeton.”

“Bear clan is good.” Kevan came in and set a case on the floor beside Deacon. “Is long gun from Foster’s car.” He nodded.

“Thanks.” Deacon leaned over and popped it open.

Foster didn’t even know he had a rifle.

Deacon looked at him and smiled. “Just checking it’s in good working order.”

Foster shrugged. He could use a gun, just never had a lot of opportunity to do that.

“Fourteen is a good number to get this done.” Cy glanced at what Gia was doing.

“Fifteen,” Ena said as she set some cutlery on the counter. “I’m helping.”

“Fifteen it is.” Cy got up. “I’m going to go grab my bag, eat, and then I’ll shower.” He walked out.

Gia looked over at Deacon. “You don’t need that look. There will be enough of us.”

Foster turned to see Deacon eyeing her.

“It’s a lot of open space to travel,” he said quietly.

“We off the powers.” Kevan sat down where Cy had been. “Is good plan. No lights. No alarm.”

Deacon aimed the rifle from Foster’s van at the wall and looked down the barrel. “It is. We just have to be as close as possible when that happens. If they have a generator, we’re only going to have seconds.”

“What do the fliers do?” Ena was putting bread into the toaster.

Foster’s stomach was growling like he hadn’t eaten in days.

“They’re overwatch. Keep an eye out for others we didn’t count on.” Deacon set the rifle back in the case.

“Can they fly close and do something that would help?” She glanced at him. “They wouldn’t be on the ground where anyone would be looking.”

Deacon and Kevan exchanged a look. “I’ll talk to Creed once he’s here and see what he says.”

Foster got up and opened the fridge. Gia had brought all the groceries, and if he didn’t put something in his stomach soon, he was going to start whining like a toddler. “Create a distraction.” He shrugged and pulled out the jug of orange juice.

“Like what?” Deacon took off his baseball cap, ran his hand over this head, and then put it back on backward.

Foster set the jug on the table and started opening cupboards, looking for glasses. “I don’t know. Have Creed drop something that explodes in the direction we want them to look.”

Kevan and Deacon exchanged another look.

“It could be good.” Kevan nodded. “A boom somewhere for eyes to see and power off. Pow.” He shrugged. “And we runs fast.”

Deacon almost smiled, but it was like it didn’t make it to both lips. “Luka and Leyton might have some ideas.” He nodded and looked at Foster. “How fast does a coyote run?”

Foster’s brows shot up.

“Fast,” Ena answered.

Foster shook his head. “I drive.”

Deacon chuckled.

Cy walked back in. Foster pointed to him. “Jag’s move pretty fast.”

Cy looked from Foster at a few of the others. “I am not Calum, and I don’t eat bears either.”
