Chapter 878 Chapter 878

Chapter 878 Chapter 878
Ena had kept to herself, just observing everyone. Two more had arrived, Creed and Andi. she was surprised Andi was a woman. When she’d pictured someone from the Alliance coming, she hadn’t considered some might be female.

Andi immediately brought in cases and started setting up communication. Orson would be prancing around like a peacock if he saw all of them and how prepared they were. More often than not, he’d talked about contacting the Alliance, but the others believed it was a waste of time.

She watched Gia talking to Creed. They were on two different teams, but it seemed like they were friends. It was strange to be with so many different shifters all working together. Had she ever met any from other clans? As far back as she could remember, she didn’t think so.

Kevan came into the house. He had been gone for a while.

“Everything all right?” Gia glanced at her mate, who was doing his twentieth check out all of the windows.

Kevan nodded. “Is good. Nik is good. No more worry.”

She didn’t know who Nik was, but still felt relief that he was all right.

“Storm coming in. Day after tomorrow.” Creed held up his phone. “Early morning.”

Gia looked at Deacon. “Do you think we can be ready by then?”

Off went Deacon’s hat. Ena noticed he did that a lot. “I’ll call Raymond and see if he can speed Luka, Kash, and Leyton getting here.”

Ena glanced from one to the other. “How much time do you need once they’re here?”

Andi scoffed. “With those three? Ten minutes.”

Gia picked up her phone and looked at it. “Jesse will be at your clan’s lands by morning.”

“Can I go there when he arrives?” She wanted to meet the one who was coming to help her clan.

Gia glanced around. “I don’t see why not.” She looked at her phone again. “Foster and Cy should be back soon. We’ll be able to figure some things out once Cy gets some information.”

Ena watched Andi check her phone. Everyone was so dependant on them, she had to wonder if her clan had been more into technology and communication, would it have changed things? She was trying very hard not to think about the possibility that some of her clan who had left, may not have done so voluntarily. She didn’t want to get her hopes up that she might see people from her childhood again. Was her mother’s name on one of the lists that people like Waylon kept? If it was, that would mean there was a reason she’d never returned or reached out to her. She honestly wasn’t sure how she felt about that.

Deacon came back into the room. “The others will be here in the morning. He wasn’t sure about Kellen and his mate.”

There were a lot of mates that worked together. Ena honestly couldn’t remember any of her clan being actual mates. Obviously, there were some because children had been born. Aunt Heidi explained all that to her. It was definitely one of the most embarrassing conversations she’d had. She couldn’t remember any mated couples. The memories of her parents were so faded now that she barely remembered their faces.

Gia sat down beside her. “How are you doing with all of this?”

Ena exhaled. “It’s a lot to take in.”

Gia nodded. “The best decision I’ve made was joining an Alliance team.”

“Orson believed with all of his heart that you would come and help.” She gave her an apologetic look. “I wanted to have the same conviction he did, but things are so far gone, I didn’t think it was possible.”

“But you still waited and called the Alliance.”

“I did it for Orson.”

Gia gave her an understanding look. “We’ll get him back.”

Ena hoped she wasn’t just saying it to make her feel better. “What do you do—” she motioned to the others. “—with all of this?”

Gia sighed. “I used to just transport others, coordinate between clans, like Foster, but now—” she looked at her mate. “—I’ll do whatever is necessary.” She smiled. “Even if it means watching through a rifle scope to make sure Deacon comes back without injury.”

Ena looked to see he was checking out the windows again. “He’s very cautious.”

Gia sighed. “He’s like a caged animal during this part of the op.” She patted the cushion beside her. “I’m going to go see if I can distract him and settle him down.”

Someone knocked on the front door, and she saw Deacon reach behind him.

“Hold on,” Andi said and then tapped a few keys on her laptop. “There’s a reason I put a peep camera at the door.”

Creed went over and looked at it. “A woman and a man’s chest.” He grinned. “I guess he’s a tall one.”

Gia went over toward the door. “I’ll get it.”

Ena watched Deacon position himself so he could see out the door. “Go.” He said in a low voice as he aimed his handgun at the door.

Ena stayed right where she was. She had a view of the door and had enough space around her to move if it was required.

Gia opened the door.

“You must be Gia.” The woman smiled. “Raymond gave us descriptions.” She smiled. “I’m Templeton, and this is my mate Kellen.”

The man nodded and looked over Gia’s head “Big lumberjack type.” He grinned. “You would be Deacon.”

Gia moved aside, and they came in.
