Chapter 55

Elise POV:

After what seemed like a long journey we made it to the seer. Her cabin is surrounded by woods. It seems like a calm, peaceful area.

“Back so soon,” she jokes. “You brought her with you this time.”

She comes up to me. She walks around me, taking a good look.

“Child, you are just as beautiful in person as in my vision. If not more,” she says. I blush.

“I’m Elise,” I try to introduce myself.

“I know who you are. You don’t need to introduce yourself. I know all of you,” she says. “I also know why you are here. Should we get settled for the night or would you like to talk?”

I look around at the others. I know they are tired from the journey.

“Go on and talk. We’ll get settled,” says Kyros.

“Come, sweet child. We have lots to talk about,” she says, holding out her hand to me. I take her hand and let her lead me to the back of the cabin. There is a small porch with a couple of rocking chairs. “Take a seat. I know you have loads of questions for me.”

I sit down and nervously rub my hands together. I want answers but now that I’m about to get them, I feel anxious.

“I don’t know where to begin,” I say quietly. She chuckles as she gets herself settled into the other chair.

“That’s understandable. It’s been so long,” she says gazing at me. I give her a confused look. “The last time I saw you was the day before you disappeared. You were so little but so powerful already. Magyck flowed through you even as a newborn baby.”

“Are you saying I’m this lost princess,” I ask her. That was the thing I feared.

“I am. You are her. I know you have seen the signs. Whoever those people are that are after you, they couldn’t mask the fact of who you really are. I know you are going through a difficult time right now. But it’ll only stop once you are true to yourself. Are you ready for that, child,” she asks me.

“Are you sure? Like there isn’t a mistake about this,” I say. I shake my head trying to reel it all in. She says I’m this princess.

“How about I just explain everything to you,” she suggests. I nod my head and stay quiet. “I worked in the castle with your parents. We all anticipated your arrival. But both me and your mother knew there were two possible futures. One where you lived a happy peaceful life in Mythren. And the other where you were taken and disappeared for 21 years. Unfortunately the second one came to be. Everyone was devastated when you were gone. It caused a lot of chaos. Ravenloft blamed the werewolves since rogues were found in the area where your presence was last felt. But for me, I knew it wasn’t the werewolves but they didn’t want to listen. Your parents were so distraught that they shut the whole kingdom off to the rest of Faer Elven. I knew you would return one day. 21 years to the day you disappeared. With you not being here, Ezra turned into a prince everyone fears. I’m hoping with you being back it’ll turn him into the person he was supposed to be.”

I listen to everything she is saying. I take it all in. She gives me a couple minutes to process it. This is a lot to take in. I compose myself and gesture for her to continue.

“With your arrival, that means there are people in full force who don’t want you here. You will be put on trial a lot. You must be careful. I know you desire to go back to the other realm. That is a comfort for you. You know basically nothing about this place. It's different from what you grew up with. But know that if you choose to stay here then you will unite the kingdoms together. You can choose to be the strongest, most powerful faerie in the lands. But only you can choose to be true to yourself. I know things have been painful. Your wings are trying to come out, child. You can stop the pain but you will be in your true form,” she says. She pauses again to give me time to process again.

“So, this is my fate,” I ask her.

“Yes. But you can choose to either follow it or not. You can change how things are. The only thing you can’t change is being destined to Ezra. That is one thing the Moon Goddess will not allow. You two are meant to be together,” she explains.

“But what about Kyros? You told him not to push me away. To not ignore the pull. We both feel it,” I say.

“Answers for that will come soon enough, child. I can’t give you the answers to that because it involves something big. Something that I must let happen,” she says.

“What should I do,” I asked her. This is all new to me. But it’s not what I want.

“I can’t give you the answer to that. It must be your choice. You must choose it. Follow your heart, not your head. That is all the advice I can give you,” she says.

I sit here and think about my options. I can still go back home. But that means having to suffer the rest of the time I’m here.

“I’ll leave you to think about it,” she says standing up. She walks around the cabin, most likely heading inside. I lean against the railing of the porch.

I look up at the sky. Some stars shine through the trees.

“I thought she’d never leave,” his voice suddenly sounded through the darkness.
