Chapter 56!
Elise POV:
Not again, I think to myself. I set off the porch and went to walk around the cabin. I don’t make it more than ten steps when I feel something touch me from behind.
“You're not hallucinating,” his voice says so close to my ear. The same voice that pierces my nightmares. “I’ve come to collect you.”
My body is frozen. I can’t move and I can’t scream. Two men appear in front of me. Men I don’t recognize. I want to scream. I need Kyros.
Tears line my eyes as I realize what is about to happen. The men step closer to me with menacing smiles on their faces.
“Grab her. She’s coming with us,” his voice rings out so close. But before the men grab me, I feel a stinging pain run across my back. I can feel blood seeping through my skin. I open my mouth but nothing comes out.
The men grab me. I want to thrash around. I want to fight them. But I simply can’t.
“I put a spell on you. They won’t know you are gone for about 15 minutes. That gives us plenty of time,” he says chuckling darkly. “Now, it’s time for you to be a good girl and sleep.”
My eyes start to close. No, I have to fight it. I can’t let them take me. But I’m not strong enough. Soon darkness takes over.
…..
My body aches all over. Whatever I am laying on is so stiff and hard. I shiver as a breeze hits my body. I groan trying to roll over. This is absolute torture.
“Finally, you’re awake,” that voice that haunts me says from somewhere in the room. That’s when I recall the last events that I remember happening. “Elise, it’s time I introduced myself.”
I squeeze my eyes shut tighter. This can’t be happening. Where am I? What is he going to do to me?
“I’m Kage. And I will be the last thing you see. The last voice you hear before you die,” his menacing voice fills the room.
I hear steps coming my way. I try to move away but as I turn there is a shooting pain all over my back.
“The more you move, the more pain you will feel. Your back is cut open at the moment. I had to make sure your wings didn’t pop out,” he chuckles darkly again.
“Let me go,” I managed to get out. My throat hurts, I need some water.
“How about I torture you instead? I’ve been waiting to get you into my hands. There is no way in hell that I am letting you go,” he says. His voice sounds closer. “Open your eyes, darling.”
I shake my head. No, I can’t let this happen. My body begins to shake when I feel his hands touching me. I feel them grip my ankles.
I let out a screech as I am flipped over. My forehead knocks on the ground. Pain fills my head, radiating behind my eyes. I feel something cold and sharp trailing up my legs.
“Hmm, what to do first,” he says to himself. “I want to hear your screams. The more you scream the more I enjoy this. Don’t stay quiet or I’ll make it hurt more.”
I whimper. How is this possible? How were they able to get there unnoticed? Kyros, Ezekiel, Hunter and Cassian wouldn’t have just let me go so easily. Where are they now? Do they know I’m missing?
“Your little boyfriend is going crazy trying to look for you. Too bad he lost your scent five miles away from that stupid cabin,” Kage says. I groan as he presses his fingers into my calf. “Ezra is also going crazy. I wish I was there to witness him blowing up at Kyros. He’s sick with worry over you and going on a rampage.”
It’s like he knew I was thinking about Kyros. They are both worried about me?
“He’ll find me,” I croak out. Kage laughs once again.
“It’s funny if you really think they’ll find you. I made sure that wasn’t possible. By the time they actually find you, you’ll be dead,” he says, then stabs something into my thigh.
I scream, pain spreading around. I feel wetness spreading on my leg and back.
“Please stop,” I cry. Tears stream down my face.
“No, I don’t think I will,” he says, pressing what I assume is a knife into my other leg. “You have no idea how long I have waited for this. I knew you would be showing up. But that idiot Kyros got to you before I could. We didn’t know where the stupid portal would be. I let you enjoy a few months of freedom. I had to make it seem like you weren’t in any danger. Put you always knew I was there, in the back of your mind. Just like I had planned it. Now it’s time for me to get what I want. First I get to torture you, then I take your powers. Ezra will be nothing compared to me once I’m done with you.”
I try to fight through the pain as I use my arms to pull away from him. I finally let myself open my eyes. I’m on a dirty concrete floor. Red smeared in different spots all around me. My blood joined in with the stains.
“They will find me. I know they will,” I try to reassure myself. But my hope dims as he screams out at me.
“They won’t fucking find you. Your scent is gone. Any traces of you are gone. It would be a fucking miracle if they actually did find you. I’m using dark magyck and can mask anything I want. And that includes you,” he screams.
He plunges the knife into my leg. I scream out as he continues to do it over and over again, until he is satisfied. My screams die down in my throat as blackness surrounds me again.
