Chapter 54!

Kyros POV:

My body freezes as Elise lets out a scream. I immediately rushed over to her. She tripped it seems.

Beneath her is what looks like a bloody body of someone. I get her up off of it. I wrap my arms around her. Her body trembles and I turn her away from it.

From the looks of it, a werewolf got a hold of someone. Could have been a possible fight or something else.

“Let’s get you away from here. I’m sorry you’re having to see that. Sometimes wolves can go crazy,” I try to explain to her.

Instead of letting her walk I picked her up. I hold her close as she tries to calm down from what she saw. We walked like this for a while. Her body eventually stops shaking. But her hands have a tight grip on my shirt.

“Elise,” Ezekiel says her name softly. He’s walking alongside us now.

She reluctantly lifts her head. She peers over at him. He holds up a little vile full of herbs. He hands it over to her. She reaches for it.

“It’ll help with any nerves you might be feeling right now,” he says, offering her a smile.

She takes the vile and takes the top off. She brings it up to her nose and begins to smell it. She lays her head back down on my chest. I hope I’m giving her enough comfort. She’s not used to seeing bodies like this. Whereas most of us have seen much worse.

We walked with her in my arms for about another hour. We come to a clearing that would be perfect to stop for the night. It’s beginning to get dark.

I set her down on a tree root. I assure her that she is okay and that I’m only going to help the guys get our stuff set up for the night.

When we get everything situated, I help Hunter start a fire. We all end up sitting together around the fire. I pulled Elise close to me.

“How are you feeling,” I whisper in her ear. She looks up at me and gives me a small smile.

“I’m okay. That was definitely something I didn’t expect to see but I’ll be okay,” she says. We both turn when we hear Hunter laughing his ass off.

“What’s so funny,” I asked him.

“We were just talking about the old times when we all first met,” says Juliangelly. “He was reminding us about how he made a fool of himself in front of all those girls.”

I crack a smile remembering that.

“You all must have a lot of memories together,” says Elise.

“We do. And we like making new ones with you,” says Ezekiel. He’s really changed how he sees her. He’s not an asshole to her anymore. They have formed quite a close bond. I’m grateful that she has him as a friend.

“I’m sure your memories with me are nothing compared to your memories with each other. I feel like it's been chaos since I’ve been here,” she says.

“It may be chaotic but we like having you around. It’s a good change,” says Cassian, surprising us all.

“What is the most embarrassing thing you have done, Elise,” Juliangelly asks her. I look over to see her expression. Her cheeks turn pink.

“Oh, umm. When I was seventeen I snuck out and went to a party with some friends. I got really drunk and stripped down to just my bra and underwear. Only to turn around to see my older brother standing behind me. He was so red and glaring at me. I got in a lot of trouble for that,” she says laughing.

“You were a wild one, weren’t you,” asked Hunter.

“I was the worst. My parents always had a hard time with me. But then after a while I kind of gave up on a lot of things. I dropped a lot of my friends. I liked being alone,” she says.

“I want to hear more about your life,” says Cassian.

“Really? You, out of everyone else, want to hear about my life,” she says, questioning him. We are all looking at Cassian.

“Yeah,” he says, shrugging his shoulders. “I know you said that you were very mean to your parents once you found out you were adopted. But I want to hear about how you felt.”

“I was hurt. I always felt different and looked different from everyone. None of them ever excluded me or made me feel unwelcome. But I felt like I didn’t belong. The self doubt was the hardest. At one point in my teenage years I made a huge mistake. I don’t like talking about it but I know it really hurts my family to think about to this day. I was upset that they never told me. I went 21 years thinking that I was really their daughter. They always told me so but then it turned out to be a lie,” she says. She’s gazing into the fire.

“I bet it really put things into perspective,” I say.

“It did. I had finally realized that I wasn’t wrong for feeling the way I had my whole life. I said some really awful stuff. I regret the way I treated them. Which is why I want to go home. I miss my family. They are all I have. But that also means leaving you guys and that bums me out too,” she says.

“I don’t even want to think about that day. I love having you here but I understand you wanting to go home,” say Juliangelly. The others agree.

“We’ll just live one day at a time,” I say. “Give you all the best memories.”

“We should take her to Crown Diamond. I bet you would love seeing the king's beautiful castle,” says Ezekiel.

“I wanna see the castle,” she says excitedly but then ends up yawning.

“Let’s get some rest for our early morning,” says Hunter.
