Chapter 63: Found
Louis pov
I hurried out of the pack house, my heart racing in my chest. Ethan and a few other men were with me, ready to search for my children. We ran into the woods, our feet pounding against the ground. The trees whipped past us as we ran, our eyes searching for any sign of the children. The forest was dense and dark, and it was easy to lose track of where we were. But we kept running, calling out the children's names. We shouted, our voices hoarse. But there was no answer.
My desperation grew with each passing minute. I knew I couldn't go back to the pack house without finding my children. It would be unbearable to return without them. Suddenly, I felt my wolf clawing at the surface, begging to be let out. I gave in, allowing my body to shift into my wolf form. My packmates followed suit, and soon we were all in our wolf forms, racing through the woods. Our enhanced sense of smell led us on, and we tracked the children's scent through the underbrush.
We ran deeper and deeper into the forest, following the children's scent. But as we continued, the scent grew fainter, and we began to lose it. I felt my heart sink, but I refused to give up. I pushed on, my determination stronger than ever. I could hear the men behind me, panting and exhausted, but they refused to give up either. We pressed on, ignoring the fatigue and pain in our bodies. Suddenly, I caught a glimpse of something in the distance, and I stopped in my tracks. Was it a trick of the light, or was it something more?
I crept forward, my hackles raised. The voices were getting louder, and I could now make out the words being spoken. The elder was demanding something from my child, and the child was pleading with him. I could feel my anger rising, and I wanted nothing more than to pounce on the men who were hurting my child. But I knew I had to be smart, and I held myself back. I listened to the men, trying to figure out what they wanted. And then, it hit me like a punch to the gut
My blood ran cold as I realized what the men were planning. They were going to kill my them, and then demand a threaten from me. I felt a surge of rage and fear, but I forced myself to stay calm. I needed to figure out a way to save my child, and I knew I had to be strategic. I looked around, trying to assess my options. The forest was dense and dark, and I knew I would have the advantage of surprise. But I also knew that the men were armed, and I didn't want to put my child in further danger.
I looked down at my children, who was huddled on the ground, their eyes wide with fear. I knew I had to do something, and I had to do it quickly. The men were getting impatient, and I could tell they were getting ready to make their move. I took a deep breath and prepared to act. With one swift movement, I lunged forward, my jaws snapping at the nearest man. He screamed and fell to the ground, dropping his weapon. I looked at my Beck, who was staring at me in shock.
The fight was long and brutal, but we finally overpowered the men and captured the elder. I held him down, my claws digging into his skin.
"Who else is behind this" I asked
"I'm not going to tell you" he replied
My patience was wearing thin, and I could feel my fury rising. I knew I couldn't let my anger get the best of me, but I also knew I had to get answers. "If you don't tell me what I want to know, I'll make you suffer," I snarled, my claws digging deeper into his skin. "You wouldn't dare," he said, but I could see the fear in his eyes. "Try me," I said, my voice cold and hard. "I have nothing to lose, and everything to gain." He looked at me, his eyes full of hatred and defiance.
Finally, he spoke, his voice shaking. "I was hired by someone who wants your children, they want the crown. They told me they would pay me a lot of money if I could capture them." My anger was boiling over, and I felt like I was going to explode. "Who else is involved?" I asked, my voice barely a whisper. He hesitated, and I knew he was deciding whether or not to tell me the truth. "I can't tell you that," he said. "I'm sorry. I don't know the other person" My heart sank, and I felt like I was going to break.
I was about to lose my patience, when I heard a soft voice from behind me. "Daddy, let's go home," the voice said. I turned, and my heart leaped into my throat. It was my Beck, standing there, unharmed, they were looking tired and weak. I was overcome with relief, but my anger was still simmering beneath the surface. "You're okay," I said, my voice choked with emotion. "I'm so glad you're safe." I turned to the elder, my eyes blazing. "As for you, you'll come along with me." He nodded, his eyes wide with fear.
We brought the elder back to the pack house, and I took him to the dungeon. I locked him up, making sure he couldn't escape. I knew I couldn't let him out, no matter what. As I walked back up to the main floor, I saw my child standing there, looking small and scared. I walked over to them and pulled them into a hug. "I'm so sorry you guys had to see that," I said, my voice full of regret. "But you're safe now. And I'm never going to let anything like that happen again." They nodded, their eyes wide and innocent.
