Still missing

Chapter 62: Still Missing

Kayla's pov

I paced back and forth in the sitting room, feeling increasingly worried. I can't find my children anywhere in the house, and I've already checked their bedrooms, the kitchen, the dining room, and everywhere else you can think of. I'm starting to feel panicked, and I'm not sure what to do next. I ask Louis and the other servants if they've seen the children, but they all say they haven't

As I stood there in the sitting room, feeling more and more worried, I knew I had to do something. I couldn't just stand there and do nothing. I needed to find my children, and I needed to find them now. I started pacing the room, my heart pounding in my chest. I felt like I was going to explode with worry. Where could they be?

I turned to Louis, tears streaming down my face. His expression changed as he saw my tears, his eyes softening with compassion. "Kayla, don't worry, we'll find the children" he said, his voice gentle. "Please don't cry. We'll find the children. We'll do everything we can to find them." I tried to speak, but I couldn't find the words. I felt like I was going to crumble under the weight of my worry and fear.

"Can't you use your ability to smell them?" I asked, my voice pleading. I knew that Louis had the ability to smell things from far away, and I was hoping that he could use this ability to find my children. But to my dismay, Louis shook his head. "That's the problem, Kayla," he said, his voice solemn. "I can't smell them anywhere. It's like they've vanished into thin air." My heart sank as I realized the enormity of the situation. My children were missing, and we had no way of finding them.

As I stood there, feeling more and more hopeless, I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned to see his mother, Lily also stood there with a worried look on her face and she walked up to me and placed her hand on my shoulder. "Kayla," she said, her voice calm and reassuring. "Let us think this through. We'll find your children. I know it's easy to panic, but let's try to remain calm." Her words did little to comfort me, but I forced myself to take a deep breath and focus on her words. She was right - panicking wouldn't help the situation.

As I took a deep breath and tried to calm my racing heart, a memory from earlier that day flashed into my mind. I had been reading in the library, when a maid had come in to bring me some tea. But something about the situation had seemed odd. The maid had given me the tea in Lily's name and when I asked Lily she said that it wasn't her, I began to say it out loud

As I turned to look at Louis, I could see the realization dawning on his face. He looked from me to Lily, and then back again. "Wait," he said, his voice low. "You're saying that the maid brought you tea and said that Lily sent it, but that's not true?" I nodded, my heart pounding in my chest. "That's exactly what I'm saying," I said, my voice shaking. "And that's not the only thing that's strange."

As I stood there, my mind racing, I knew I had to find the children. I turned to Louis and said, "I'm going to look for them. I need to make sure they're okay." He nodded, his eyes wide with worry. "I'll help you," he said, his voice firm. "We'll find them." I felt a surge of determination as I headed for the door, with Louis right behind me. I had to find my children, no matter what.

But as I reached for the door handle, Louis placed a hand on my arm, stopping me. "Please, Kayla, you need to stay inside," he said, his voice insistent. "It's not safe for you out there." I shook my head, my eyes flashing with anger. "I'm not going to sit here and do nothing," I said, my voice rising. "My children are missing, and I have to find them." But Louis wouldn't budge. "Please, you can't go out there," he said, his voice pleading.

"I promise I'll bring them back home safely," he said, his eyes meeting mine. "I'll bring them back to you." He turned to his beta, who was standing nearby, and said, "Ethan, go with me. And bring some of the others." The beta nodded and hurried off to gather a group of men, while I stood there, my heart pounding in my chest. I knew I should trust Louis, but I couldn't help but feel a twinge of fear. What if something happened to him, or to my children?

I stood there for what felt like an eternity, watching the door and hoping that Louis would return home with the kids. But after a while, the anxiety and worry started to take a toll on me. I felt my energy draining away, and I knew I needed to rest. I walked back into the house and sank down onto a chair next to Lily, resting my head on her shoulder. She put her arm around me, offering me what comfort she could. But I couldn't shake the feeling of dread that was rising within me.

I stayed there with Lily for a while, but after a few minutes, I knew I had to get up and do something. I got up from the chair and went to my room, trying to think of what I could do to help. I decided to grab some food from the kitchen and bring it back downstairs. I figured that if I was going to be waiting around for news, I might as well have something to eat. I knew that it wouldn't solve anything, but at least it would give me something to do.
