CHAPTER 74

She soon found herself coming to a stop in front of the kitchens. She was nervous as she felt herself begin to shuffle her weight on her feet. She thought that she would be able to do this. But each time that she had met a new pack member she knew that Alex had been right there with her by her side.

He was always the one to help her out but now she had to do it alone. She reached out a shaky hand as she cleared her throat and she knocked her palm shakily on the door. She could hear several movements coming from the other end before she watched as the door was pulled open to rwcwal ah older woman. She was several inches taller than her and she had a slight frown on her face.

“What do You want?” She asked her and she could tell the gravel in her voice. It was deep and it was coarse and for a moment it left her taken back slightly. She gulped as she found herself suddenly hnable yo come up with the words that she needed to say to her.

“Well I was having a picnic with the orphans and we were wondering if there was any food that was available so that you could give some to us?” She asked her hesitantly. She didn't entirely know the reason why she was so nervous but the way that the women before her seemed to stare into her soul seemed to be the answer that she was looking for.

She watched as the woman seemed to eye her from top to bottom before she let out a disgruntled sight from her lips. She stepped back after a moment as he pulled the door open further and she allowed for her to step inside the room. She knew that the woman wasn't a fan of her being there but she was at least a bit concerned to her to some extent that she had even allowed her into the room.

It was small and dark and she took notice of a few wooden benches that were pressed in the middle of the foom. She took the sight in as she couldn't help but look at it with a slightly saddened loom on her face.

She was pulled out of her thoughts when she watched the women cross her arms over her chest and look towards her with a raised eyebrow. “Alright then how about we skip the chit chat and you just tell me what it is you want little girl.” The lady said to her.

She looked towards her in confusion as she had thought that She had already explained to her. “Like I said , we are having a picnic with the kids and I was wondering if you could help us out by putting something together.” She mumbled.

She watched as the woman let out a low score from her lips as she blew hot air frpm herouth. I know that is what you said but i don't believe a peep of your words.`` She said to her and she couldn't help but feel slightly taken aback by her words.

The truth was that she hadn't expected her to say that. “I know that you probably find it weird that i am here and it may seem as though i am trying to intrude in your lives but i promise you that i don't mean you any harm. I just want to try and connect with the pack. I don't want to force myself to

Be the Alpha i want to earn it and if by chance you guys think that I am not good enough For you then at any time you can send me away. This is a democracy". Hse said to her. She don't know why she felt And though she wanted her approval so

Desperately. She wanted everyone to be happy witg gee smd in s sense she wanted all of their approvals. In fact she needed it more than anything.

She felt a shiver run down her spine at the thought of it . "well i still don't trust you but i think that i should have to give you a bit of respect and i should thank you for at least trying, that is better than you doing nothing so i guess that's good.” She said to her in mutter under Her breath.

She was grateful for that and although it didn't mean that she entirely approved of her she knew that it was at least a step in the right direction. She knew that it meant that she was at least willing to give her a try and there she would consider the idea of her being the next Alpha.

"So what do we have for the kids .I was thinking of just some snacks``. She said to her and she watched as the woman pressed her hands on her hips. “Okay. You know that I am not your maid I am a cook here as well and just as I stated I cook for everyone doesn't mean that I will available for you all any site that you call and as for food and snacks. We are a bit busy on them at the moment, we haven't had many supplies coming in and the ground as you probably know is terribly infertile and because of that I have been forced to improvise in most of the situations. I don't like it but at this point it seems the only way.” She said to her and she watched as she gave her a shrug of her shoulders as though it was no big deal.

She looked towards her in confusion as she didn't say anything at first before she bummed lowly. “What do you mean that food isn't coming in? What is the reason for that.”

She only shrugged her shoulders at her in response as she didn't say anything to her at first. “Well, what is the reason for anything that happens around here? It is the darkness. It had always been and it seems as though it will always be. In the end it is clear that in some twisted way all roads seem to inevitably lead back to him.” She said in dismay.
