Chapter128
After all these days on the run, he settled his parents down and started to move around the mountains, but this was not a solution after all. Later, he worked temporarily in a bar.
At night, when the music broke the stillness of the night air, the sky shone with the light from the fireworks. Jeremiah watched the beautiful sky as he thought, "How wonderful it would be if Stella could see such beautiful fireworks." When he finished thinking, he walked into the bar like a ghost. He received a call from the manager to bring drinks to the guests in room 3012. Jeremiah had kind of enjoyed it when he first came here. Because it was just a simple job and he did not have to think about escaping. But he hated it as the days went by. The openness of the girls in the bar and the lustful eyes of the boys made Jeremiah feel completely uncomfortable. He wanted to change his job, but the manager would not allow him to do so.
Suddenly, a pair of blood-red eyes appeared and rested on a girl. An unnoticeable smile came up on Jeremiah's face. He didn't expect to see these annoying guys here. Watching the man come a little closer and the girl was aware at all, Jeremiah looked at the man with interest. Then he dropped the glass on purpose when he put the drink on the table and the blood-red eyes looked towards Jeremiah and showed a ferocious look.
The manager came over in a hurry and broke out in a cold sweat from fear. The manager had always been paying attention to this unusual regular customer. This girl, who came to this bar often, had a special relationship with the territory. Because of the word "territory", the manager knew that he could not mess with this girl. However, the newcomer brought him trouble.
"What's wrong with you?" There was a fit of clear and audible anger hidden in the manager's cold tone.
"Don't make it too hard on him. He didn't do it on purpose." It was Bella, who had given Jeremiah a good impression that night. He didn't know why, but a warm current was churning endlessly in his heart.
"What's the matter with you? You are fired and you can leave now!" The manager sneaked a glance at Bella after he finished saying that. He did not want to lose his job because of the newcomer. The manager knew from the bottom of his heart that only if Bella was not angry and did not call to account would his bar not be in trouble or close down.
Jeremiah looked at the girl in front of him, knowing that this girl must have a special status. When he apologized to Bella, he didn't forget to threaten those bloodshot eyes, and only looked at the bar manager after seeing him slowly retreat.
Bella was surprised that the man in front of her had an air of familiarity and a bit of strangeness to her. She let the manager leave and then looked at Jeremiah.
Jeremiah had been completely disguised by now and no one would notice that he was a werewolf except for a faint breath on him. After living in human society for so long, he had already integrated the human scent into his body.
Jeremiah politely said goodbye to Bella, because there were more important things he had to do next. The filthy creature was a natural enemy to them and was always a hazard if it stayed here, so it was better to get rid of it.
The guy with those bloodshot eyes didn't leave but kept hovering around the bar. It was clear he was very much concerned about the girl. Jeremiah knew there must be a dirty secret.
"You keep such an attentive eye on a girl who is going to participate in a mating ceremony. It seems that your Alpha is very fond of her."
There was not the least bit of emotion in those bloodshot eyes, which belonged to a very handsome man, but his face was pale and bloodless.
"It is indeed you ugly and dirty guys." Jeremiah saw through him all at once.
The man instantly showed his fangs and Jeremiah changed into his own form. Within a few moments, Jeremiah came out of the alley, just as Bella was also drunk. He silently followed behind her until he watched her enter a small house. Soon, a fierce argument came from inside the house. Jeremiah shook his head and quickly left the place.
The fight just now had already exposed his whereabouts. If everything went right, that corpse would be found by the territory here tomorrow. Jeremiah looked up at the moon in the sky. It was about to be a night with a full moon again. He couldn't help but glance back when he thought that the girl was actually going to be present at the mating ceremony. He wondered if she would have her own luck. And the Alpha. It seemed that the Alpha of this young pack was young and had quite a bit of conflict with foreign enemies and had even drawn the European guys over. But none of these was Jeremiah's concern right now. He was going to pick up his parents and run off in the direction of California.
Fate had always been unpredictable. Many years later, he met Bella again, when Jeremiah had already come out of the trauma caused by Stella's death and his pack had gradually forgotten to pursue him as if he had disappeared without a trace in this world.
When he met Bella, she was having an affectional conflict with Aiden. Even after all they had been through, Bella was on the verge of giving up on their love. Jeremiah came along and decided to take the chance. However, Aiden's reappearance caught him off guard, but instead of anger, he only had his faithful blessing to give. He could see that Aiden was very much in love with Bella, so he decided to quit the battle of love.
As San Francisco gradually became ablaze with lights, Jeremiah walked towards Bella's cake shop, where he bought a cake that was carefully packed by the shop assistant. Jeremiah looked around and found that Bella was not in the shop. It was apparent that she had gone home to take care of her daughter. Jeremiah walked along the streets in San Francisco carelessly, unaware that he had come to Bella's current house again. He was going to walk up to the door and ring the doorbell, but he hesitated.
The door opened and Aiden came out with a bag of garbage in his hand. He kept a strict vigilance over Jeremiah when he saw him.
"It's you. What the hell do you come to my house for?" Aiden yelled at Jeremiah in a very unfriendly tone.
The noise startled Bella, who was cooking in the kitchen. She went out to see Jeremiah, who was blocked by Aiden in the doorway and was very happy.
"You have not left here, Jeremiah. It's great! I thought that I would never see you again." Bella went up and gave her best friend a hug with flour still on her hands but Jeremiah didn't care about it at all. This made Aiden very envious.
"Honey, let's go inside and entertain our guest." Aiden looked at his wife and said in a very helpless tone because he knew that Jeremiah was a very good friend of Bella and she cherished this friendship a lot.
In the house, Jeremiah was teasing Bella's little daughter. The little girl was so happy that she kept badgering Jeremiah. Seeing this scene, Aiden couldn't help but worry about the blood relationship between the child and him. But in fact, when the child was born, he already knew that the child belonged to him. But he still felt very aggrieved when he saw that the most important two women in his life were both attached to the man in front of him.
Jeremiah fed the cupcake from the cake shop to this little one, who ate it quite happily. After having dinner at Bella's home, Jeremiah said goodbye to her and her family and gave Bella an affectionate hug before he left. As if sensing something, Bella looked at Jeremiah as she said, "Hey, Jeremiah, where are you planning to go next? Do you need me to recommend you a job?"
"I'm going to open a bar in San Francisco, so you can come over anytime then." Jeremiah lied to Bella, knowing how sad she would be if she knew he was leaving San Francisco.
Bella was happy that Jeremiah was staying in San Francisco, and when she heard he was opening a bar, she told him that she would be there to support him. Jeremiah laughed, thinking that she would probably forget about it sooner or later.
When he left Bella's house, it was already late in the day. He was planning to leave the city today, but the sound of footsteps followed him closely behind. Jeremiah looked back, only to see that it was a girl who was very good-looking. Jeremiah felt that she looked very familiar but could not remember her at once.
"Long time no see, warrior Jeremiah," the girl said to Jeremiah with a smile.
