Chapter 114

Bella

Jeremiah and I have gotten pretty close, he comes by when my shift is almost over so he can give me a lift home. Sometimes he stays over dinner and play time with the pups then he is gone.

Days have passed on like this, with him picking me up and then having dinner. The pups had gotten attached to him too, they loved him or was it the treats he would bring for them? Whatever it was they were still getting spoilt.

Ever since that day he had asked about the moon, he had not brought up the subject again. I don't even think that I had replied to it. It was absurd and kept me thinking. Combined with the incident he called my babies pups? It sent me making all kinds of conclusions.

I am just glad that he did not make any of those times hard for me by pressing me for answers. How was I even supposed to answer that if anyone decided to actually be serious and press me.

I only hoped that such situations never found their way to me. it could risk the safety of my pups and nobody wanted that. At least I didn't.

Today was no different, when the time was almost Jeremiah appeared for a cup of coffee. It was the only thing he would have while he waited for my shift to end. I noticed that he also took note of the side I worked, since Moira and I shared sides to serve, and took the liberty of sitting that side.

He would smile his big smile and hand in his greetings, he would tell me how his father sent his regards and his brother too. Yeah, it was a thing now. I would get invited to dinner on Saturday night after the weekly check up they heavily insisted on.

I shouldn't lie that this all didn't seem strange, in fact it did. How could a whole family welcome in a stranger like myself who they clearly don't? that didn't sound right at all.

I head over to his table with a note and pen even when I know what the order is.

"Hi, good afternoon Jeremiah. Want are you having today."

He smiles up at me flashing me those perfect pearly whites, "I have a coffee please" he says. "Gotcha" I reply back at the same time turning to go place the order in the kitchen.

As I am walking by the counter, Moira signals in the direction of Jeremiah and raises her eyebrows in an attempt to mock me. I had told Moira about my divorce sometime back when she was sharing me a part of her too. Ever since that time, she and I have gotten close and I was glad to have a friend.

Not long ago did she ask me if the ‘coffee hunk', as she put it, and I were seeing each other. I had declined but she went on to say that the man was interested and to give him a chance. I told her she was crazy and delusional, there was no way he was interested, he just had a good heart that's all.

She thought I was the one who was delusional. Either way, I didn't want to see him in that way. I still had a tender beaten up heart, it was no use trying to make it feel unnecessary things that weren't going to happen.

Ignoring her sheepish behavior, I go straight to the kitchen to place the order and in no time I am coming out with a steaming cup on a saucer in a tray.

When I get back to the table, he has papers all over the top. On some days he would bring in his paper work to do while he waited for me. I didn't know what he did professionally but he sure wasn't a doctor like his father and brother. Excuse me, one of his brothers.

The Gregory family was a big family. With lots of brothers and sisters, uncles and aunts and their children. Of course these people didn't all stay in one house but they did show up for dinner at one house. Their family was just in coordinate with each other I liked that.

As Jeremiah spots me with the coffee, he quickly makes room on the table for the coffee. I place the saucer down and make my way back to the kitchen. I had thirty minutes left for my shift to end. It shouldn't be too long.

When the time finally came, I was ready for home and Jeremiah had already packed his papers and was ready to go.

In the car, as conversation went on I asked him about his work and what he does. He told me that he was an entrepreneur and that he invested in new ideas. Yeah, it did not make any sense to me but it looked like it was working for him. No wonder he had nice posh cars similar to those Aiden would like.

You see that was my problem, I could never control myself to not think of Aiden. Even the slightest of reference would always be about Aiden no matter the topic. But he left me to be with his long time lover.

I was starting to resent him for making me fall in love with him. On extreme days I was blaming myself for ever running away from Sebastian. At least that way I would not have met Aiden and I would have never fallen in love with Sebastian. Heart intact.

But no, I just had to run and bump into the person who was responsible of ruining my whole life by making me love him. I was grateful that he gave me offspring to love and nurture, I was going to give them my best and hoped they made it in life. I wished happiness for my pups, even the coming one.
