Chapter 113
Aiden
The operation was a success so the child told us. We had nothing to do with the body, so it remained where it was, wherever they executed her.
The day it happened, it was brighter and sunnier. The earth had been exorcised of it devil and now it lay a pure land. So much for trying to be poetic but one simply had to celebrate their victory.
Now that that was done with, it was time I focused on finding my wife. But how? How was I going to find her when I have torn down this place piece by piece.
It could only mean one thing. Bella was out of the state. She did a good job trying to hide from me but I swear I am going to find her and I am going to bring her back. She was my wife and she was meant to be by my side.
This time we were visiting all ports to try and secure a security footage from that day. Maybe then we could find a lead.
I didn't send out people immediately because wherever Bella went she went there to stay. She thought that we could not find her but she was wrong. We could do this tomorrow when everyone was prepared.
My people desperately want to find their Luna because of the black moods I am constantly having. They are afraid I will go back to the nasty self I was, ruthless and all. I trusted that we are going to be able to find her if we just know what direction she took.
Going back to an empty house was not an option for me. I was afraid of the dream that was going to come to me. lately my dreams have been the source of my torture than the abandonment that Bella bestowed on me. Maybe a drink or two would be appropriate.
With the decision made to where I was heading I make direction in that way. The pack club wasn't a flashy place, its why I liked it. It had a cool environment and most of the patrons here were men advanced in their age.
I walk up to the counter top and take a seat on the long stool by the counter. When the bar tender gives me his attention "The usual please" I say to him.
He pours me two fingers of whisky with some crushed ice. I chuckle under my breath, I just remembered how people get shocked when I have crushed ice floating in my whisky. I just liked the ice like that.
I found some made who engaged me in a conversation on how the olden days were the days. In my opinion, it was the day because they had spent them young. Everyone's youthful days were the best days they could have. It was just a pity that some chose to waste their youth referring to better days. But didn't better days come and go regardless of age?
Look at me for example, I had the best life living with my wife but because a bad day appeared, I was temporarily separated from her. I still believed that a better day will show its face soon.
I had lost track of time, by the time I was getting up from my stool, the club was closing. I didn't notice that most of the patrons had left.
Taking a step, I sway losing my balance. I try for another step and end up staggering forward. I must have had more than enough to drink.
I stop and focus myself, ironic because focus is the one thing I lack right now. But getting home shouldn't be much of a hustle when I do.
Finally, I am home.
~~~
I feel a tap on my shoulder. "Aiden" was that my name? it was too faint to actually hear. Another tap "Aiden wake up" who was that? And why were they commanding me?
I groan and change positions, my arm was feeling uncomfortable wherever it was. "Aiden" that voice again. "Mmm what do you want" I say in my sleepy haze
"Aiden, we found a lead"
I jolt up awake like I have just been shocked awake. "You found a lead? Where?" I say as I got up. I got up against my better judgement, it was like my head was being pounded by a sledge hammer continuously.
"Why did I drink" I say under my breath. I rub my eyes and focus on who was in my room.
It was Patrick, "How did you get in" I say while I put on a t-shirt. "The door was open" he replies.
I don't feel too well. This is why I never took up drinking as something to pass the time. the hangover. It was not my cup of tea. Great, you got yourself a hangover on the day you are supposed to find your wife. Trust me to ruin everything for myself.
I had a quick shower and my beta was graceful enough to make me breakfast because I was hanging. What a good man. Ethan would have just let me suffer for his amusement.
Sigh. To miss a friend who had turned into a brother was a lot of pain. I am doing this for you Ethan, I cannot let you die for my wife just to lose her in the end. Her and me promised each other that we are for life and that's exactly what is going to happen.
Apparently, she was at the train station when last she was in Oregon. That's what the footage found had shown. She was alone with the pups and got into a California train.
But where in California was she, with a vast state like that she could be anywhere. And what if she didn't stop in California? I guess there was only one way to find out.
