Chapter 28 Vexhood's Challenge
Chapter 28
Lyra's POV
I yanked up from my bed but this time, my legs were not touching the ground, they were levitating in the air. My skin had changed this time to an emerald mixed with sparkles of diamond.
The rays from the light that had refused to go down and had found its way in between the curtains that covered my window blind.
Everywhere in the palace was quiet as usual. It seems everyone had gone to bed.
I have two goals, mainly to check on two wolves. Alpha Jax and his beloved Luna , Rosa. I have only one agenda with them to torment them in their sleep. Make their dream nightmarish.
I wish to start with alpha Jax. Then when I am done I will move to Rosa's room too.
I didn't need to open the door. My spirit form was strong enough to turn into air and permeate every room, every corner of the palace, even everywhere I wish to go.
In a blink of an eye, I found myself in Alpha Jax's room . Ready to distort his sleep. Then a beam of light came through the room , through the window.
It was a very bright reddish cloud. It spread through the room but couldn't spread towards me.
Initially I thought it was the visit of the gods, but I had to think it through can two spirits from the same realm visit a physical being at the same time.
Since this body was not mine but belongs to Asheteroth, the moon goddess, I should have known prior to now. I should have visited. I should have been signaled. Spirits from the same realm don't work against one another except when something goes wrong.
But who am I to counter it?
But I had paused a bit to see what was about to happen when I saw the bodily form of Alpha Vexhood, working out of the clouds.
I was shocked.
Like he was backing me and I could see him from where he stood. He looked everywhere in the room for a moment to see if there was anyone besides Alpha Jax who had laid helplessly in bed. Snoring heavily in the dream.
Alpha Vexhood? What the hell does he want with alpha Jax?
He jammed his totem on the floor which brought his usually green spark. The whole room as if a giant had stepped inside the palace.
Poor alpha Jax, he didn't wake up. Even his snoring became much louder than the first time, rolling to one side on the bird. Even he was almost drooling.
I shook my head in sympathy. Is this stormfang pack king? Is this how vulnerable he could be when he sleeps ? Even when we were together then I have never seen him sleep in this disorganized manner.
I floated quietly near the ceiling hiding in my spirit form. My skin still glowed like the emerald fire mixed diamond dust.
I had to stay calm. I knew Alpha Vexhood was dangerous but he is not a match of my metaphysical power. My heart thumping in my chest, fast and loud like drums calling for war.
“What does he want here?” I whispered to myself, even though no one could hear.
The reddish cloud behind Alpha Vexhood swirled and twisted like smoke around him. A strange humming emanated from it. This wasn't from Asheteroth. It was deeper and heavier, almost like a growl trapped inside.
Alpha Vexhood stood tall with his red robe, his long, twinning hair, and floated a little. It looks like the cloud behind him was trying to pull him back.
He lifted his totem and jammed it on the floor.
Once. Twice. Three times.
The room transformed to a greenish glow. Which permeated every corner of the room. Even a new pup born today in Stormfang packs what that means. It means nothing but danger.
Instantly, the air in the stood still like it had been waiting for this.
Not cold. Not warm. Just frozen.
Everything in the room stopped moving, the curtain, the fan attached to the ceiling, even the lamp at the bed side of Alpha Jax was put off. It was like time itself held its breath.
Then alpha Vexhood spoke.
Jax,” his voice was thick and loud laced with demonic venom. You have walked into the path you should not walk into. You have the guts to challenge the gods which your ancestors dared not look in the face. This moment marked your end, joining your ancestors the way your father did.
I squeezed my brow,
He wasn't speaking as a chief priest. But someone who had a score to settle with Jax just because Alpha Jax challenged him two days earlier that he should go do his worst.
So is this how to prove yourself?
Then I heard speaking with some kind of strange voice. Not the type I have heard anywhere on the earth's surface.
It is like there was a connection between his strange language and the totem held firmly in his right hand.
The totem obeyed, glowing brighter. Its green sparkle stretched and wrapped around poor alpha Jax’s sleeping body, like a chain made up of green light.
Alpha Jax's breath changed immediately. He groaned in his sleep, his face twisted. Alpha Vexhood magic was pulling his spirit out of his b
ody little by little.
“Come forth Jax!” He roared. Shaking tremendously with his totem.
