Chapter 29 Narrow Escape

Chapter 29 Narrow Escape
Chapter 29

Lyra's POV.

“Come forth!” Alpha Vexhood roared louder, backing it up with his chanting. His voice spreads across the room.

Regardless of how loud his voice was, it couldn't wake anyone up. Even if a pin were to fall, it wouldn't get noticed.

If the spirit completely leaves Jax’s body fully, he will surely die.

“No…” I whispered, “not today.”It is preferable for Jax to die in my hand than to allow him to fall dead in the hand of this monster called Alpha Vexhood.

The green chains squeezed tighter. Jax’s body was lifted slowly from the bed. His back bent inward. His mouth slightly opened. The labored breath had increased more, spreading through the room.

His mouth slightly opened up like someone wanted to force him to speak. His legs shook rhythmically.Alpha Vexhood tightened his grip around the totem.

The reddish cloud pulsed behind him like a giant beating heart. Like it had been communicated by Alpha Vexhood to do so. Then I moved my invisible body slowly through the air.

My spirit form didn't make noise. I didn't want to expose myself; if he sensed that, it would be another battle entirely.

I floated closer; I stayed behind him, only a few steps behind. The reddish cloud behind us blew a strange wind into the room.

Then, my emerald glow flickered. I forced it down. I commanded it. “Stay invisible. Stay unnoticed.”Then the totem releases another spark.

Then the totem released another spark, this one stronger, bigger, and scarier than before. It was like a sharp blade of green lightning. Then Jax's body jerked up violently and severely.

If I don't salvage this situation quickly, things will be messy.“Enough.” I commanded.

Suddenly, the green chain around Jax flickered for a moment. Then I took advantage of the tiny moment. I bound my fists together. My spirit energy.

The moon goddess's spirit energy charged into my palm. It felt like holding stars made up of fire and brimstone at the same time. Without wasting time, I directed the energy at Vexhood's back.

Not as a strike. Not as a blow. But as a push of pure spirit form. A push no human could feel or see. My power slammed straight into Alpha Vexhood.

Then he gasped slightly and staggered forward a little towards Alpha Jax's bed. His totem slipped off, but he grabbed it.

The green smoke around Jax snapped into smoke.

The reddish cloud behind him roared like a beast. It then tightened around Alpha Vexhood's body and pulled him back.

“What…” he tried to speak, spinning towards the cloud as if the cloud had pushed him back. He didn't sense me. Then I saw the cloud, growing into strange smoky claws.

It wrapped around his arms. Alpha Vexhood's robe fluttered wildly. Then the air in the room went hot, cold for a bit, and then got hot again. “I am not done!” He roared in fury,
commanding the gods.

His voice echoed in the room, bouncing against the walls, ground, and even the ceiling of the room.

But the cloud refused him. The gods rejected his voice. They dragged him backward. Then he struggled, kicking, "Let me finish with the idiot; he must be judged." The cloud refused him.

It sucked his feet, legs, and arms. Alpha Vexhood struggled by jamming out one of his arms from the cloud for his totem. Before his fingers could touch it.

I blew out a whisper of air. A whisper of air huge enough to move mountains in spirit form. The totem finally slid out of his reach.

Vexhood's eyes widened, and he bellowed, “No… No…”The cloud swallowed him whole, and he was gone.

I quickly picked the totem up and threw it back into the reddish cloud, which was gradually shrinking and reducing in size.

Then the reddish cloud shrinks into a small ball of glowing mist and then bursts into thin air with a soft pop.

Silence returned back into the room. The bedside lamp flickered back on.

The curtains moved back on, and a fresh breeze ran into the room. Jax dropped back into the bed with a loud thud. His eyes fluttered, but he didn't wake up. The little smoke from Alpha Vexhood
had disappeared into tiny sparks.

I heaved a sigh and muttered.

“That was close.”
