Chapter 116 Burning Truth

Chapter 116 Burning Truth
Chapter 115

.

Lyra's POV

"What do you mean?" Rosa asked.

Her eyes locked onto mine. They searched my face hard, looking for answers. Looking for the truth.

"You are standing here telling me that my Ryder is making sexual advancements toward you?"

Her voice was sharp. Angry. Confused.

Sorry for that,” I said with a little bit of humor. I thought he would have lied against me… saying I was trying to seduce him. I waited a bit, hopefully you would call me up…”

I shrugged, “so I let it slide…If you asked him about it," I continued, "he would just lie anyway. What else would a cheater do? He would only protect himself with lies."

Rosa shook her head fast. Side to side.

"I can't believe this. You must be lying. Or... or what..."

Her words trailed off. I know what he wanted to say. Something like: Ryda would not sleep an omega like me.

"Fine," I said. My voice was cold now. "It is not my job to make you believe me. I was almost raped by this lover of yours. Right in the middle of his big living room."

I crossed my arms tighter across my chest.

"My advice to you is this: do your findings. So that you would not be shocked that Freya is carrying your lover heir.”

I took a step closer to Rosa.

"And maybe Freya is playing games with you too. Taking your money and laughing behind your back."

"I doubt that," Rosa said quickly. She waved her hand in the air like she was pushing my words away.

"Freya is very trusted. She has helped me do so many things.”

Like killings. Like doing this type of dirty job too.

" …I have put my trust in her. You are only one acting like some piece of thin goddess here. Acting fucking saint.

"Acting like a saint?" I roared , my voice echoed through the room, So I should kill someone because you want so you could enjoy your roller coaster with your secret lover? Then what about…"

I didn't finish my utterances before the door opened and Alpha Jax entered the room.

I turned around fast. Rosa too. My heart jumped into my throat.

I was shocked Rosa too wasn't left out.

Oh no, I thought. The last part of what I said. Please, please let him not have heard that.

Alpha Jax walked into the middle of the room. His flat shoes made soft sounds on the floor. So soft. Too soft.

That's when I realized something strange. Why was he wearing flat slippers ? Why didn't I hear him coming? Usually, his shoes made noise. But these slippers were so quiet.

How long had he been outside the door? How much had he heard?

I quickly looked at Rosa's face. Her expression changed instantly. She started acting. Pretending.

She quickly made up a strange gesture like a pup whose hand had been stuck to a glass jar containing cookies.

"Good afternoon, your honor," I said quickly.

I put on a smile and bowing to pay homage. I was trying to make things feel normal in the room.

But it didn't work. The air in the room felt thick. Heavy. Like it was hard to breathe. The walls felt like they were closing in on us.

Rosa what was at stake. Her dignity. Her everything, quickly darted towards alpha Jax, she threw her arms in the air for a fake embrace.

"My king," she said sweetly. "I didn't know they were still in the palace vicinity. I came to check you in your quarters last night but you were not around…"

Her word didn't move alpha Jax, like she was speaking to a tree. He quickly turned her embrace away from his body.

Fast. Hard.

Like she was carrying some kind of disease. Like he didn't want her touching him.

The fake smile on Rosa's face disappeared. It just melted away. Her whole body went stiff. She stood there like a wooden pole. Frozen.

I looked down at the ground. I stared at the floor like it was the most interesting thing in the world. Like maybe the earth would just open up and swallow me whole.

This was bad. Really bad.

It was a big sign. A clear sign that Alpha Jax had heard everything I said. He heard me talking about Alpha Ryder. About Rosa's plans. About everything.

But you know what? At this point, I didn't care anymore. I shouldn't be the one protecting Rosa. Not after all the evil things she had done. Not after she asked me to kill someone.

Rosa cleared her throat. The sound was loud in the quiet room.

"Do you need anything?" she asked Alpha Jax.

Jax didn't respond. His face looked hard. Like it was made of stone.

Rosa tried again. She turned to look at me, then back at Jax.

"Or do you want Lyra to prepare your favorite meal?"
