Chapter 104 Sentence To Death
Chapter 104
Alpha Thomas' POV
Alpha Vexhood's entire body went rigid.
Every muscle from his back snapped tight. His shoulder drew back.
His spinal cords, forcing him to straighten up regardless of the pain that should have kept him to be calm.
Almost every part of his body was wrapped up from head to toe.
Without exaggerating, he was looking half-dead the moment I stepped into the room but what changed immediately he saw me with his totem.
It was like watching a famished lion, woken up from his sleep when a prey walked past.
His eyes locked into mine like there was nothing else to prove in this world except the rod-like object held tight in my hand like a weapon. The totem.
Everyone knows how important this singular item is to Alpha Vexhood. It was his symbol. A Hallmark of respect, power and communication with the ones above.
His eyes locked at me like a predator ready to pounce on his evening food. My body grew good bumps.
Then, I don't know where the energy came from, he moved.
His lips parted slowly. His throat worked, muscles moving beneath the bandages wrapped around his neck. And when he spoke, his voice didn't shake anymore.
It didn't crack or tremble.
It came out strong. Powerful. Clear as a bell ringing across an empty field.
Like the gods themselves had reached down from the sky and put strength back into his mouth.
"So you are the idiot who invaded my room two nights ago!"
The words hit me like a punch to the stomach.
Wait.
What? I squeezed my brow. I folded .
"W...what do you mean, Alpha Vexhood?"
My hand trembled. The totem suddenly felt heavier in my palm, like it had turned from wood to stone. My fingers struggled to keep holding it.
Alpha Vexhood pushed himself up slightly. His face twisted with pain, lines deepening around his eyes and mouth. But he didn't stop moving. He didn't lie back down.
His eyes, dark and sharp even through the gaps in the bandages, burned into me like hot coals.
"So…" he paused a bit , gathering energy to spit out that which remains in his throat."you disguised yourself behind the face of the gods and put me in this state!"
His hand gestured weakly to his broken, bandaged body. His arm vibrated, a sign that he is sustaining it with the energy left. But still manage to point to his injured chest, bandaged legs and body .
"I don't understand what you're saying!" I said, my voice rising.
I took a step backward. My heel hit the floor with a soft thud.
My mind spun like a leaf caught in a whirlwind. Nothing made sense anymore. The world had turned upside down.
Alpha Vexhood was the guilty one. The one who found his way into my bedroom and sent my mate to life beyond even when I was right beside her. Even when I had shut my eyes to sleep.
Nothing to hide here, he was the monster who took everything from me.
But now he was saying... what? That I attacked him?
No! That's impossible !
"Quiet, Alpha Thomas!"
Alpha Vexhood's deep voice resonated through the room like a raging storm on the sea.
The intensity was so much that I flinched. My whole body retorted backward like my soul had been slapped out of me.
My heart hammered against my ribs.
"Who gave you such power?" he demanded. His voice filled every corner of the room, pressing down on me like a heavy weight.
"... strong enough to attack me? And not only that, you took my totem along with you! My symbol of power and respect!"
He struggled to breathe between words. His chest rose and fell rapidly beneath the bandages, like he'd just run a great distance. Each breath seemed to hurt him, but he kept talking.
"I don't understand you, Alpha Vexhood!" I said again, louder this time.
My voice came out desperate. Confused. Almost pleading.
But even as I spoke, I felt something change inside me.
Doubt. His twisted and manipulative plot
It crept into my voice like water seeping through cracks in a rock. It slipped into my heart, cold and uncomfortable.
No. No, that couldn't be right.
"I shut up your mouth there, you rebel!"
The command hit me like a physical blow. Not with hands or fists, but with pure authority. Pure power.
My lips sealed together before I could stop them. My teeth clenched together until my teeth clicked, the sound loud in my ears.
I wanted to say something, but I couldn't.
Alpha Vexhoods narrowed, the expression carved thin lines into his face. Beneath the bondages, his muscle pulled tight. Though, he was severely injured and barely able to pull a muscle. But still posed a lot of threat.
I couldn't speak even if I wanted to.
Alpha Vexhood's eyes narrowed into thin slits. His jaw tightened, muscles working beneath the bandages on his face. Even broken and bandaged and barely able to move, he looked dangerous.
More than dangerous.
Deadly.
His actions , just like a wounded lion, were more frightening than his healthy peers.
"Today marks your end." Alpha Vexhood spat.
The words fell into the silence like stones dropping into deep water. My eyes widened. I stepped back a bit.
Sweat broke out of my skin. Cold air diffused like harmattan through my skin.
I dare not move or breathe.
"No one should possess the kind of power you used against me two days ago," Alpha Vexhood continued, his voice dropping lower, becoming darker, "and still be running in the same pack as me."
Each word was deliberate. Careful. Final.
Like a judge reading out a death sentence.
He lifted his hand, slowly, painfully, into the air between us.
His arm shook with effort. The bandages around his fingers were stained with something dark. Blood, maybe. Or something worse.
His fingers stretched out toward me. Reaching across the space that separated us.
Reaching for the totem.
Before I could blink…
Before I could move…
The totem vanished from my hand.
One second it was right here in my palm. Solid.
The next second, nothing.
Just empty air where it had been.
I looked down at my hand, stunned. My fingers were still curved like they were holding something, but there was nothing there. Just empty space.
My mouth fell open.
Then I looked up.
The totem sat in Alpha Vexhood's bandaged hand.
Right there. Across the room. In his grip.
He hadn't moved from where he lay. He hadn't walked over to take it. He hadn't even stood up.
But somehow, impossibly, the totem had traveled from my hand to his.
Like it had always belonged there.
Alpha Vexhood didn't smile. Didn't gloat or laugh or celebrate his victory.
He just held it.
He took the totem up as if it was priceless, something special to him. As if letting go was no longer an option.
My heart dropped.
It didn't fall, rather, it fell into something fast, merciless and bottomless.
I knew what that meant.
So why should I be afraid of eventuality? Afterall, I had bade goodbye to everyone back home.
From the deepest corner of my heart, I knew this moment was inevitable. I knew it would surely come.
Since I had taken that bold move to challenge him? To confront his wrong doing to think he had amassed so much power that he could eradicate anyone he felt like.
I shut my eyes tight.
So tight that my eyeballs almost popped out of its socket.
My hands balled into fists at my sides. My whole body tensed, every muscle going rigid.
I waited for whatever was coming next.
Pain. Death.
The end of everything.
Something was about to hit me.
I knew it.
I could feel it coming like you can feel a storm approaching before the first drop of rain falls.
So I stood there, eyes squeezed shut, waiting for my end.
